Teenage_Kicks, welcome to the Band of the Red Hand, one of the best Social Groups at DM! You have made a very good choice in enrolling into the ranks of the greatest fighting machine in Randland...and DM! As you have probably noticed (or about to), the Band is DM's music, travel and eating out Social Group. So have a good browse and jump right into our activities on offer. We are currently in a Classical Music month, and starting to enter a Eurovision Song Contest phase. If you don't know what Eurovision is, don't worry as it will be explained! I have been very efficient and asked that you be added to the Band's usergroup, so very shortly you should be able to see a …

As mentioned previously, The Band of the Red Hand is taking a short break in its search for our Dream Band after Freddie Mercury of Queen won the Male Vocalist part of the search, joining Carlos Santana on Guitar, Geddy Lee as the bass player, and Within Temptation's Sharon den Adel as the female vocalist. April saw the Band focus on Soundtrack music and composers. For May, we switch to Classical Music, and in this thread, specific pieces of Classical Music. You managed to nominate eight (8 ) pieces of classical music to go with four (4) seeded tracks from the 2009 version and four (4) added by me to challenge for the honour of being the Band's and DM's Favourite Classica…

For those unaware, the Recruit Training Program is changing. A lot. I have posted a thread explaining the changes in the Recruits board. FYI, this was approved unanimously upon in the Staff Board, however if any non-staff members have any concerns, you are welcome to express your concerns in a PM to myself, Jea, or Corki, and all three of us will take a look at them and get back to you. EDIT: Fixed your link

Just posting this in public, but you have noticed I have been quite inactive for about a week or more. This is because I am studying like mad for my two forthcoming accountancy exams. As a result, I am postponing all Band related activities I run until I return, which is 10th June 2010. Jea and Horn are in charge until 10th June.

Now, with just under 20 minutes to go until we head back of to Oslo for the 55th European Song Contest. I hope everyone is getting settled in, whether it is front of the TV or using the live streaming from the official Eurovision Website (you need to install something called OctoShape to get the streaming working, which is linked from the website). Now is the time to get your supply of beers, wine, spirits and snacks. I'm pretty much set up and waiting for the show to begin. Tuesday and Thursday saw the 2 semi-finals to find the 20 other qualifiers to go with Norway (the hosts and champions), the UK, Spain, Germany and France, who all qualify automatically. Some…

And here we go again! After Europe shocked us with its poor taste on Tuesday, we have another semi-final. And I will be your host for this evening's entertainment, passing my glorious comments on tonight's proceedings via Twitter (http://twitter.com/DM_BotRH) and posting them on here as well. Please note that I am watching something else at the same time as a series I have been following finishes tonight, and I don't want to miss it, so I might miss the odd song. And just a quick rundown on how tonight is to work. 5 countries (Norway as last year's winners, UK, France, Germany and Spain) are all guarenteed a place in the final. However, the remaining 34 countries ha…

And we are just about to start the big start - Eurovision 2010 will officially be underway. The 55th Eurovision ever! And I will be your host for this evening's entertainment, passing my glorious comments on tonight's proceedings. I haven't had a big look into the songs tonight, so I have no idea what will be in our mixed bag of goodies tonight! And just a quick rundown on how tonight is to work. 5 countries (Norway as last year's winners, UK, France, Germany and Spain) are all guarenteed a place in the final. However, the remaining 37 countries (I think) have to battle it out for the remaining 20 places. So tonight is the first of the semi-finals. 17 countries are …

With summer on its way here in the Northern Hemisphere (well, the glorious sunshine in the UK makes me think summer is here), most of us will be planning or undertaking our summer holiday or vacations (just to keep you Americans happy! :P). So, what are your plans? Where do you plan to travel? What do you plan to do there? Post anything that relates to your travel plans so we can discuss them and maybe post helpful comments!

Well, here is a thread for general discussion about the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest, which this year is being held in Oslo, Norway after Alexander Rybak's victory last year, with what I felt was an awful song - Iceland should have won! Feel free to chat about previous competitions, previous winners, views for the forthcoming competition this year, why you love or hate the ESC - basically anything and everything about the contest. I really haven't been following much this year with regards to Eurovision, but all I know is that the UK have no chance of winning! We picked an awful singer with a terrible song. After our attempts to repair the damage over the last few ye…

With the beautiful weather outside (and me being stuck indoors revising...rephrase that, thinking about studying for my forthcoming accountancy exams), it is time to think about what summer festival and gigs we shall all be off to see in the coming months. I currently have only one on my list, which is seeing Blondie at Kenwood House, London, UK at the end of June. It is an outside concert, and last year, my mum and I saw Ray Davies of The Kinks there. This time, my mum and dad are both coming up (my dad is a big Blondie fan and has a massive crush on Debbie Harry) to see the concert, along with myself and Northie. It should be a great evening out, and hopefully ther…
