because today was WACKO! You would not believe it! My day started at 4:15 this morning, when a coughing fit drug me out of bed in search of cough drops and water. At 4:30, Tadpole woke up screaming and only a cuddle with soft music got her back to sleep. I crawled back into bed at 5:00. My alarm went off at 5:30. My brain didn't want to hear it, though, and I kept hitting the snooze until 6 (read: I am now 15 minutes late). Get everyone (except Tadpole) up and eating breakfast, get Peanut's clothes together and laid out for her by 6:15. Then I get started on getting myself ready. My husband leaves at 6:45 (read: he's 15 minutes late, too) after fighting Peanut t…

So, I'm addicted to Pinterest, and I know I'm not alone. And if you're not, you should be. ;) There's a thousand things on that site that people post and I love it as a resource for free stuff online for just about every corner of my life. This month, however, we're going to focus on Arts & Crafts DIY projects. I will be posting a new one every day (unless something funky comes up). You're welcome to post things of your own, too! Let's have some fun and learn how to do new stuff this month!

This weekend, I was horrible to my thumb (the one I over extended at the zoo a few weeks ago) and it's paying me back by doing its best tool name me want to scream 24/7. I've been trying to poke my nose in as much as my phone will let me because Swype is easier than typing right now. :( So, I apologize if I've been a bit scarce these last few days. Please forgive me? I promise I'm heading for am x-ray if it's not feeling better in the next few days.

Yes, I'm of Irish Hertiage. Yes, I live in a city HEAVILY populated by Irishmen and their descendants. Yes, St. Patrick's Day is a public holiday here in Savannah. No city government running, no school (it's on Sunday this year, but... *sighs* Not next year!)... nothing that the city has control of. So, for this awesome week, we're going to GO GREEN here at the Kin! Here's a list of things we have going: Recipes Party Ideas Crafts!

March is finally here and, with it, the turning of the seasons from winter into spring. But do you really want to be outside, experiencing the world as it blossoms into beauty and new life? NO! You want to spend it here, at the Kin, with time wasting browser games! Post a link to addictive web browser games here and let everyone know just how awful your habit really is (keep it DM-friendly, please! AND DON'T POST A LINK TO MAFIA. srsly.) I'll start with Z-Type, a scrolling space shooter game with a horrible, soul-eating twist. http://phoboslab.org/ztype/

I'm taking an "American naturalist writing" course this semester and part of the goal I've set for myself is to write for at least ten minutes a day. In chat tonight with Ryrin, we talked about turning this into a Kin project where Kinsters write something and post it for feedback and commentary. So, here's how this thread works - sit yourself down, find a happy place (Happy Places here) and write for ten minutes or however long you want to. When you feel like you've accomplished all you can for that session, post it here and hopeful someone will come along and offer support, feedback and encouragement. Leave your Pretentious Scarves and Catty Berets at the door, plea…

March is National Arts & Crafts month here in the states and the Kin celebrates it in a lot of different ways! My favorite of which is this exchange. It's pretty simple. You sign up, you get matched up with someone. You make them something this month and put it in the mail to make their day brighter! It can be anything you do normally or something you learn how to do this month! Whatever makes you happy! The key is to keep it small enough that you don't get killed in postage! Things I've received in the last 7 years include: -small paintings (they're framed and on my desk!) -book marks -embroidered patches - beaded items - art work Seriously, the…

I'm starting this thread a little early to give the folks overseas a chance to participate! It takes a bit to get a letter over an ocean these days, so in order for them to get theirs out, we have to get them in the mail pretty soon! So, here's the deal with this exchange. You sign up in this thread, which means you agree to send and receive Valentine Cards from the others in this thread. You must send them to everyone who signs up! Which means, if all 17 people who signed into the January sign in thread post in here, you mail out 16 cards (17, if you want to mail one to yourself!). These don't have to be anything eccentric, just those cute little Valentines that we …

I thought this might be fun. Instead of one person getting asked 100 questions, though, how about we just collectively ask each other 100 questions? The rules: 1- no repeat questions. 2- you must answer a question in order to ask one. 3- you must ask a question in order to post an answer to one. 4- you can only ask one question per post. 5- Number your question so we can keep up with how far we've come! 6- They can be WoT questions or non-WoT questions. It's totally up to you! 7- Try not to answer in single-word responses and when posing a question, try to make it impossible for someone to answer in just a word or phrase. The goal here is to have fun…
