First let me say... I am shocked.... SHOCKED that Bridesmaids is considered a best picture nominee. How did this get nominated over Drive? Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role DEMIÁN BICHIR / Carlos Galindo - “A BETTER LIFE” (Summit Entertainment) GEORGE CLOONEY / Matt King - "THE DESCENDANTS” (Fox Searchlight Pictures) LEONARDO DiCAPRIO / J. Edgar Hoover - "J. EDGAR" (Warner Bros. Every year about this time I start a post where we can rank the movies we have seen that came out in that year. Best known as Colonel Sherman T. Potter on the TV series M*A*S*H. As my favorite TV show of all time, I am a big Harry Morgan fan. RIP Sherm.

We currently have a Wii which is several years old (though recently serviced because the drive reader died). My boys are really getting into the Call of Duty (ie, fps) games and are talking about PS3 and X-Box. Being the frugal kids they are (they take after their mom) they don't like that you have to pay to play multiplayer online with the X-Box (I think I saw recently it was $99.99 for Live Gold). OTOH, I'm concerned about security with the PS3 due to the hacking incident that took place where they were down for awhile and customer info was compromised. My boys both like Halo (which they've played elsewhere since we don't have M-rated games in our home ATM) but i…

Anyone play Global Resistance through Myresistance.net? If so, does anyone know when it is supposed to be back online? It was a cool little free strategy game. That and it is the ONLY way to unlock some of extras in Resistance 3.... I kinda would like to get 100% completion. Ugghhh! So frustrating. Evidently some hackers put malicious code into the site. However, Insomniac games and Sony have been very tight lipped about anything regarding the hacking or a planned timeframe for it to come back online.

As the title suggests, just looking to see if we can get some predictions/debates going on who we think will be playing for the Crystal Ball this year. Me? I wouldn't be surprised to see LSU and Bama go at it again. With Stanford and Boise losing this past weekend, it's looking like Okie State has control of it's own destiny as to whether or not it makes it to the BCS title game. Anyone smell a spoiler in the Bedlam game vs. OU? I do. I guess we'll just have to see how it all plays out. Post away :)

As you may have noticed, I've recently merged the tv shows and sports forum. This forum and the movies forum both have the same issue as those did, namely not enough activity to warrant an entire forum on their own, but combined they can manage. Sometime in roughly two weeks from now, give or take, I will be merging them.

I have a question that I hope will lead to a nice debate I realize this could go in probably any subforum on this board but I chose since I feel movies are most commonly what we think of when we hear a work is being adapted my question is this I've seen a lot of outrage from people concerning adaptions (most recently The Last Airbender and Akira) I realize with each work comes different complaints (in TLA there were complaints of whitewashing while the Akira adaption is slated to drastically change the setting) but it seems too common that fans of a work will be extremely unhappy with the adaption I want to know, where does this anger come from? TL;DR adaption…

cFor those unfamiliar with the series, you should really check it out, since the Persona series enjoys a well desrved cult following. Here are a few of the major recurring components of the game: Persona(s) - a sort of representation of the soul or personality of the entity from which it came, in some of the titles there have only been one persona allowed (though it may evolve) for anyone other than the protagonist who may change their persona. Each persona is part of one of the major arcana (tarot), they also have specific properties and capabilities. Velvet Room - this is a special place which performs a number of different services focusing mainly on the persona. …

My favorite show on television (although Californication is a close 2nd), Archer is easily in the top 3 funniest shows I've ever seen. The good news is, Archer has been renewed for a third season:

Okay, I am faced with a dilemma people.... I have currently ordered a rather impressive little beast for my gaming needs, with one major problem.... I don't have a good sound system to go with it, nor do I know much about speaker systems... but I cannot have my smexy gaming unit running on some shiatty $10 stereo speakers (which was previously my sound-uberness) so please, oh please DM gaming folk, lend me your insight!! I am willing to spend a few hundred if needed depending on the quality, but I am no audiophile, I almost only ever use my speakers for gaming.

I picked up a copy yesterday and played a couple levels I am very very pleased that the physics are the same in the single player I cannot stress this enough being very unhappy with the physics in later games (and other non halo games as well) this game IS the game you played 10 years ago on Xbox and if that's what you're looking for you'll be very happy with it there are also some new easter eggs like skulls and terminals I found one skull already and I'm looking forward to finding the rest it gives me a reason to reexplore the maps I used to know so well speaking of the maps let's talk about the graphics I'm torn on them most of the time I think the new g…

HBO has added to its already impressive fantasy resume (GAME OF THRONES, TRUE BLOOD and the forthcoming AMERICAN GODS) by picking up the TV leg of the massive, multimedia DARK TOWER adaptation being masterminded by Ron Howard. The project is set to encompass several theatrial movies and a TV series lasting for three or more seasons. Universal were developing the project but ditched it three months ago due to concerns over mounting costs. Ron Howard and fellow producer Brian Grazer have downgraded the budget of the movie project (the first movie's budget has been dropped by $45 million) but potentially upgraded that of the TV series by teaming up with HBO. Javier B…

So, I decided to post this here because I use the Movie board the most. I've decided to take a Leave of Absence that will likely be for quite a while. I've been doing this for 4 years now and am getting to the point where real life just won't let me continue to devote time to this site. So long guys. Adios

James will be staying at MGM and they've made long term plans for the saga. It's looking like good news. I really, really hope that Craig stays as Bond. Connery will always be the best bond, but Craig is easily my second favorite. I loved Casino Royale and while Quantum of Solace was semi-disappointing, it had nothing to do with Craig's acting or on-screen presence.

“Whitney” has been getting horrid ratings in NBC’s cushiest timeslot; how will it fare in one of the toughest? "30 Rock" is getting "Community's" timeslot; "The Firm" is getting the "Prime Suspect" slot. No mention of "Community" and “Prime Suspect” in NBC's plans for the rest of the season though... UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – November 14, 2011 – NBC today announced its new mid-season 2012 schedule which features the premieres of four new series in “Smash” (February 6), “The Firm” (two-hour premiere January 8, time slot premiere January 12), “Fashion Star” (March 13) and “Are You There, Chelsea?” (January 11). The new lineup also includes the return of “Th…

Has anyone else been paying attention to this? I'm an Ireland fan (the Republic, that is, not the North), being of Irish descent, and they've been doing well. Currently, they're in a three-way tie for first in their group with Slovakia and Russia. Slovakia doesn't impress me much, but Russia is tough to beat. Russia already beat Ireland once in qualifying. There's still a few games to go, hopefully the logjam will be settles in a good way.

anyone heard about this or inteding to get it? it's 39.99 and though the website lists it for all consoles i can only find it for the 360 right now. graphics wise, i want this for the PS3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwpKSvWO6y0&feature=related so from what i've seen of it, this isn't te typical JP game where you shoot dinos, instead seem more of a survival game where the object is to escape the island. the game picks up directly from where the 1st movie leaves off, so imo the only logical storyline would be for you to be a worker who didn't get on the ship in time before the storm. i'd love some first hand reveiws of this game, as far as how …
