  8. Dragonmount's WoT TV Show Forum Spoiler policy Users should use their best judgement in using "spoilers code" when talking about book spoilers. Major end novel plot spoilers, should be put in spoilers. Each topic should make use of "Tags", to give users the ability to determine what level of spoilers they should expect when reading a topic. The Tag "TV Show Spoilers" means you should expect to read spoilers from the TV Show. The Tag "Book X Spoilers" means you should expect to read spoilers up to the specified book. The Tag "Full Book Spoilers" means you should expect to read spoilers from every book. The tag "N…

Let's sit down and have a small chat. Instead of sending off a thousand different PM's or even taking a Heronmark to every new thread, we're going to have a small little conversation about what Forum Etiquette is. And I don't mean spoilers, wokeness, and using the right acronyms. I'm talking about community conversation that isn't facebook, twitter, or reddit where threads taper off into multiple threads without interacting with each other. And I may toss in some random gif's to keep your attention, but sadly this is far more important then just a good laugh or a casual glance. Believe me, I am VERY well aware of how many of you have actually read our CoC so …

  10. The he thing that made me really enjoy Peter Jackson’s LOTR was that despite the departures from the books the story was told in the same tone as the novels and so it still felt like LOTR Same went for Game of Thrones, the books had a darker tone and thus so did the show so it felt like the same world and the same story. WOT by contrast just does not have the same tone as the books. It feels like they are trying to tell the story of WOT in the tone of GOT and it just feels off, despite some familiar characters and scenes it just doesn’t feel like the same story.

  11. Yes, I understand that it is difficult to translate something from novel format to television and movies. That being said, if the adaptation is going to deviate significantly from the source material, then it should not be made at all. If you want to tell your own story fine, tell your own story. Don't chop a story into a bunch of pieces and then paste them together while using the name to entice an already dedicated fanbase.

  12. So, who is getting stabbed next week? It is the Battle of Emond’s Field, so there is bound to be some martial violence. Loial has already been stabbed by the Shadar Logoth dagger. Perrin has already taken an axe to the chest and been stabbed in the side, just this season. Alanna just took a dozen or so bolts. If I had to guess, my money would be on Faile “dying” as a motivation to set Perrin off. I suppose Bain and Chiad are lesser possibilities. Maksim is another possibility if they want to beat the warder/aes sedai relationship angst to death.

So we have 5 confirmed Ishamael Lanfear Moghedien Sammael Graendal Spoiler 6 with the casting of Lord Gaebril ??? ??? I think we all agree the figurine with the musical instrument is Asmo leaving only one more. I don't think we're getting Demandred, I think they're merging him with Sammy especially after the info in spoiler above. I also don't think we're getting Semirhage as I think she has already been merged with Lanfear. Lanfear in the show is far more cruel. kills indiscriminately and even enjoys it. This is far more in line with Semirhage. Lanfear in the books rarely killed except…

If I recall correctly, they greenlit seasons 2 and 3 before the preceding season dropped.

  15. Are there any changes that would make you stop watching the show? Just putting this out as a question because I think it's safe to say almost everyone is here because they are fans of the books but we know the show isn't necessarily geared towards book fans. I think its fair to say some books fans have been able to accept the changes made in the show so far, some have not and some are conflicted. I imagine this is will mean that some book fans might not wish to continue watching the show in future if they are unhappy with it. With this in mind this question is to the book readers who will be coming back for season 2. Would anything be a hard …

  16. Started by WhiteVeils,

Many many interviews and news articles came out today, so this thread is maybe for some of those, but I thought that this video with Rafe was the one this forum needed the most first.

  17. Started by TamSwordsman,

I'm halfway through S2Ep3...and I'm disgusted... This Rafe bloke is destroying books I deeply love. There is simply no purpose to so many of his/the producers changes. This is truly "inspired by" or "based on"...in the most loosely applicable sense. They are literally taking themes from the books and creating their own story...a story that doesn't even remotely follow details and plot lines accurately. I get that at times Jordan was verbose and that there must be some changes in any adaptation...but the things that are true to the books are occasional homage and by far in the minority. What do others…

  18. I want to see more Forsaken: I think we’ll get Moggy and Lanfear for sure, but I also think we’ll get Slayer and maybe even a little bit of Sammael and Rahvin? I want to see Matt go through the Red Stone Doorframe. I want to see a Rand, Couladin throw down. I want to see Nyn surprise Moggy with her outburst of power. I want to see Perrin go full wolf-mode in the 2 Rivers battle. And, I’m impressed by and want to see more of this WT Black Ajah throw down. Smart of them to realize a sneak preview - if the whole season is at the quality of the 10 min we got - it’s gonna be a good season (even if us book fans are insufferab…

  19. I am just re reading the Shadow Rising and it reminded me of the first time of reading and that moment of clarity about the 2nd age, how it was a high age of technology and civilisation and not a medieval age like the world painted in the books. That, combined with the reveal of the truth of the Aiel was the moment when everything clicked. In fact the Shadow Rises is when Robert Jordan truly defines his world, we see the Finn worlds, getting a sense that there are alien creatures existing in different planes or maybe far away planets. In some respects it hit me the same way that the end of the original planet of the apes hits, seeing that he is on a future earth. Wi…

  20. I suppose this topic can have some spoilers for both the show and the book, though I'll try not to spoil specific events, but just discuss abilities. I am a bit concerned with the level of power the Aes Sedai exhibit thus far and am wondering if it is problematic. I do acknowledge that the use of powers creates spectacle, which is great for a visual medium; there is no denying that the fight to start season 3 was visually cool. Yet it seems to me that the Aes Sedai are far to powerful than they ought to be at the moment. Consider that in the books, one of the defining charateristics of the Aes Sedai is how little they know of the power, having fo…

Amazon has released a 12 minute snippet of episode 1 on Prime, go to extras and look for "Sneak Peek".. Don't want to spoil but leane is my favorite for this scene.

  24. Started by Ralph,

Now we have a date for S3, I thought perhaps it is a good time to rewatch S1&2. This time I am trying to see it as a standalone story - obviously aware of changes from the books, but not trying to analyse or understand them - just to see the TV show as its own story. Things I picked up in first half of S1E1 that stood out more than previous times... 1. Moiraine saying "the arrogance," and that women have to pick up the pieces left by men causing the Breaking is clearly deliberately juxtaposed with the way Liandrin and the Reds treat the Channeler, and how Liandrin described men channeling. Whether what Moiraine said is true or not, and the hu…

  26. Started by Guire,

After sneak peek I have been thinking about Two Rivers and how that arc will play out. First, show's goals for arc. Female empowerment, defeat dark forces in 2R, advance Perrin to Lord Goldeneyes. Players on the board. From sneak peek and casting notes. Perrin, Faile, Alanna, Maksim, Marin, Jac AlSeen, Bain, Chiad, Loial, Dain Bornhold, White Cloak soldiers and 2R villagers. Tinkers likely in mix. Possibly Taren Ferry villagers. Missing or unknown on light side. Tam, Abel, Bran, Verin, Tomas, Gaul, Devin Ride village, Watch Hill village, and Perrins companion guard. Dark Forces mix of trollocs, fades, and dark friends p…

  27. There is a lot of information about Episode 1 from the promos. We know that all of the main characters are in Tar Valon at the start of the season. Major events in Episode 1: The Black Ajah's escape (confirmed by Rafe). Moiraine and Siuan reconnecting (unconfirmed but certain). Egwene’s Accepted Test (confirmed by metadata). These are the events that need to happen in Tar Valon and may be the key reason for starting the season there. Other likely events in Episode 1: Bubble of Evil (It happens in Tar Valon, but could be in Episode 2). Lanfear visiting Rand (speculation). The season starts with Siuan confronting Liand…

  28. Mine is, has has been for a while, well few years now : Shohreh Aghdashloo Someone else used to be my fan cast back in early 2000, but honestly it's been so long i forget the actor 🤔 Although I heard a rumor recently, she is being cast as Elida, and I hate it 🤕 *runs and cries in a dark corner* 😨😭

  29. People on here are upset it seems that Rand in season 2 is not as powerful with the power as Rand in books 2 and 3. They seem to want him to be super syan, killing trollocs with a thought, annihilating armies at tarwins gap and being all powerful. The thing is, Robert jordan made a mistake in books 1-3, a mistake he spent a long time rectifying in the following books. his mistake was not of his own doing, it was forced on him by the writing process. It is a mistake that many writers have discovered if they don't have a full story mapped out start to end. I call it the Matrix effect. When he started out he hoped he had a trilogy. A story to tell o…
