Sarah is on Twitter trying to justify the shows many changes and Rafe's decision to basically try and tell his own version of WoT and largely ignore Robert Jordans books. I feel sorry for her really - she says herself she had to be 'talked off the ledge' many times.

I wanted to start a thread for the Origins animated shorts. Thoughts? Opinions? How do they represent the books compared to the show itself? Does it make you enjoy the show more?

I'm having a hard time reconciling this moment with him being described as a stone... Thoughts? I know Rafe said that he wants to better convey the bond... but... to me, to remain true to Lan's character... if Moraine is crying, Lan should be the one with a single tear rolling down his face, not the other way around.

The actors keep referring to the DR as he or she but the DR cannot possibly be a she sine Saidar was never tainted by the Dark one. Why is this in the show? Its extremely confusing when you're trying to explain the entire background and lore of the world to someone and you're having to argue with the show...

Even if you like the new sensitive Lan, you have to admit they have just done Lan dirty. Every episode seems to add something to lessen Lan. This episode we start with Egwene somehow sensing a trolloc before Lan? Wasnt he on watch in the ways? Apparently he was sleeping soundly, had to take a few minutes to gather his wits, ask Moiraine to spare a weave to warm up his clothes, find where he left his sword and then join the action... Then we get to Fal Dara and other than a slight little nod of the head and a chest bump, Lan is basically unrecognized. Seriously? We couldnt get the book greeting? Not like they needed to throw a parade just everyone they pa…

Oh boy there is some stuff to unpack here. Firstly what is going on with Perrin!?! Seems we will be getting the first manifestations of his wolf brother powers. First appearance of Min! Blood snow! The Black Wind whispering madness? Actually, is it Perrins wolf powers or Min's viewings?

The hope is we are 5% of the total audience, but I would guess right now we are well over 50%, and the balance have been dragged into this by the 50%.

Ok so here's what I think we're going to get next episode: *Warning Full Spoilers* #1. The Ways (obviously) : but to be consistent with their world and make it interesting we also want to get some Trollocs chasing them in the Ways (but now they'll need a DF channeler) ... So maybe in this next episode we find out that Liandrin is a DF. #2. We'll get a little more of what Fain was doing and he'll steal the dagger. Oh wait. Snap. I bet it's Fain that Liandrin is meeting & why she knows so much about what Moiraine was doing. #3. We'll get to the Borderlands and learn a little about the dire straights they're in & Bord…

I just watched the first 6 episodes of Wheel of Time, and I want to say that you are giving us an incredible performance. Your gravitas, poise, manner and bearing perfectly capture Moiraine for me. And I wonder if you and the cast realize just how epic your exile scene was with Siuan. I cannot remember watching a more moving interaction on film in years. I wept watching you. Both you and Siuan were just stunningly perfect. The script was ingenious; spare but powerful. And your recitation of Siuan's father's words was an arrow of compassion. Honestly, I don't know how you gave that speech without having to retreat to a more formal stance. I believe that your pe…

So I recently watched a YT video by Daniel Greene and his tier rankings of 24 of his favorite WOT characters. Thought maybe it would be a fun exercise to do for first impressions of the characters we've seen so far. Feel free to add a character if you felt they deserved to be included Here is a list - but no one is required to tier all of them. All I ask is an honest & fair appraisal - and if you're just going to tier them all as awful - well probably not the right thread for you. ? Alanna Aram Illa Eamon Valda Egwene Lan Liandrin Logain Loial Mat Moiraine Nynaeve Pad…

Personally I cant see all of these antagonists making the cut. There are just too many of them for a screen adaptation. Who will make the cut? Why, how and when? thoughts?

Hi everyone. I am somewhat new to the WOT series, and I am absolutely in love with the show. However, I just bought the first three books, and I'm wondering which chapter the newest episode (episode six) is closest to in EOTW so I can avoid having to reread most of what I already know. Thank you!

We should have met her by now. Has Judkins or anyone else mentioned it? Did they cut her? Because if so, im done with the show. So many problems that are driving me crazy right now, but this is a major one. I've wanted a WoT series forever, but its starting to seem like a major disappointment for me.

I think everyone is pretty aware by now that there are a lot of people who have some problems with how Rafe Judkins has changed the story. One of the major changes, that the Dragon Reborn could be female, seems to be motivated by our modern understanding of gender. Judkins, if I'm understanding him correctly, has a problem with the idea that men and women are fundamentally different in some very key ways. Only women can access saidar and only men can access saidin. Although the show has not tinkered with that concept, they have changed the idea of the Dragon that makes it seem like they wish they could. But here's the thing. Jordan created a character, Baltham…

Has their already been a consensus that Natasha O'Keeffe is playing the role of Lanfear? No role announced . . . seems like a natural casting choice to me.

One of my favorite moments that didn’t make the show was when Matt tossed the dice against Galad and Gawyn with a quarterstaff in the Warders training grounds.

Yes!! I have finally found something I am dismayed by ... I cannot remember or hum the theme tune! How can they not have come up with something memorable to accompany the intro? Now I am left with having to fit the words 'wheel of time' to the GoT music in my head. And that is bad! (I am joking, a bit, but yes: the music could have been a bit more memorable for me. I am kinda meh about it. But I am interested in hearing people's thoughs, so tell me, maybe I am just overreacting...)

I’ve watched Episode 1 three times so far… introducing new people to it and whatnot… and I keep catching new things I’ve missed in previous watchings. For instance, the dragon fang with the sheep, missed that the first time around. Was that the Trollocs (most likely, but I don’t remember Trollocs being THAT intelligent) or someone doing that to scare someone off? And Perrin’s wife, Laila. I’m questioning if she may or may not be a dark friend like people have suggested. I watched the 2nd time specifically looking for clues…. When Perrin says “I love you” she responds “I know”. Not a typical response of a married couple. (Unless you’re in the cloud city o…

I have a theory on what we are seeing in the books and the current tv show. The book give us the live view of the events of the ending of an age and the true story of the times of the Dragon Reborn. The tv show is fast forward as the wheel has turned for about 1500 years we enter a tavern and Rafe the Gleeman is trying to tell the tale of the Dragon in common chant. Many things have been lost as the wheel has turned but you can still get the basics of the story like Lenn and his trip to the Moon.

I have seen a lot of debate on here about why they suggested that the Dragon Reborn could be female. I think the larger question is, why do we know that one of the five Emond Fielders could be the Dragon Reborn in the first place? In The Eye of the World, Moiraine plays it close to the vest. She tells the three boys that the Dark One wants them, but she doesn't tell them why. Egwene and Nynaeve leave Emond's Field for other reasons entirely. There's a strong argument to be made that setting them up as potential Dragon Reborns actually robs them of their agency, which is pretty anti-feminist. And then there's the fact that the Dragon Re…

While many new actors are on the scene in this production, How do you feel about the physical portrayals? Lan? Moiraine? Perrin? Etc? To get the ball rolling, always felt the dynamic of Moiraine and Lan was the very large Warder next to the diminutive, elegant Aes Sedai. Yet, the power was still obvious between the two (Moiraine). Lan not big enough Moiraine not small enough (appearance)

Need some help as I didn't see episode 6 and am a bit confused by the conversation. See if I have this correct: Siuan says to Moiraine - On your knees. This is in context to Moiraine's 'banishment' Is that correct? People seem upset about it, but it is not clear why for me. If I have the above correct, I would be upset because Siuan is stealing Rand's line from after Dumai's Wells. But it is very possible I'm missing something or have the context wrong. Thanks.

Hi everyone! Tomorrow, Friday, December 10, our podcast team may get the chance to interview actor Taylor Napier from The Wheel of Time. I say "may" because the interview isn't confirmed yet. As with many things in this production, we never know until the last second whether it will play out as expected. But for now, assuming we have the opportunity to speak with him, we would love to hear your questions. Please help us out! Reply to this thread with questions you'd like us to ask. We'll only have a short time, but we'll do our best to ask him the best questions. As a reminder, Taylor plays the role of Maksim, who is one of Alanna's warde…

Episode 6 Predictions 1A) Moiraine x Siuan cold opening; establishing their frisky history with each other. 1B) Egwene x Perrin cold opening; rush to the Tower, We see that clip from the promos where Moiraine informs Nynaeve that Egwene is back and they rush to hug. 2a) The Amyrlin returns, and promptly convenes a meeting in the hall, makes a shit load of fish references and where the red ajah and Moiraine should stuff them. 2b) The Amyrlin returns with the Daughter Heir, then 2a happens. 2b.1) Rand spies Elayne in the Tar Valon garden. The Persimmon aren't ripe yet. 3) Mat gets partially healed 4) Perrin explores Tar Va…

As I’ve had more time to mull over the show so far, I’ve realized in some ways the start of the whole show for me was pretty mediocre and so feeling good about it has been an uphill battle since (which ep5 did not help). I was going down Reddit rabbit holes and came across someone’s suggestion for an alternative opening to the show that I quite like as an idea. This got me curious, how would folks here change the show’s opening (if at all)? for reference, here’s what that post suggested: Imagine Bel Tine, Thom is in the Winespring Inn telling the Karaethon Cycle. Done in a style that is like Hercules by Disney with story book illustration…

So having pondered many comments of the community on this topic and especially the video review I will just make a point. Namely the current show path of rewriting the series pretty much wholesale is going to make the series much weaker than it should have been. The writing room has only a certain amount of creative energy. Instead of using that energy to adapt existing plot successfully to the small screen and ensure that the details (such as scene details, dialog and accents) speak to Randland, they have to spend it creating brand new storylines. that are not necessarily improving the story. I appreciate the variety of opinions on this topic. However, RJ spent a lo…

Hello! I hope to return to this post later and make it more robust, but I wanted to make some basic suggestions about how to calibrate for watching The Wheel of Time. And really this advice applies to all TV shows. These adjustments won't magically fix every issue there may be, but should provide a better viewing experience. You can find these settings in your TV Menu (Options/Settings). Your TV should have sub menus for Picture, Audio, General, etc... My suggested changes should all be under the Picture menu, and some buried deeper under Advanced/Expert options. Turn "Motion Smoothing" Off Motion Smoothing. Tru Motion. Motion Interpolation. 3…
