It seems that most are in agreement that there will need to be some major changes made to the Forsaken for purposes of the tv show. I'll take a shot at predicting what they'll do with each. Aginor: I believe Aginor will be at the confrontation at the Eye. He is a good character to use to explain the creation of the shadowspawn and since he is in the text, it makes sense to keep him. I would write him as being clearly in service to Ba'alzamon - furthering the idea that Ba'alzamon = the Dark One. Asmodean: I would keep Asmodean's arc basically the same, though he will die in the confrontation with Rahvin. No balefire resurrection. Baltham…

Heroes can only be as epic as the villains they tangle with - Lex Luther and Superman, the Joker and Batman, Thanos in the Marvel movies, Cersei and Littlefinger in GoT, Sauron and Saruman in LoTR. So here's my question: who do you think the Tv adaptation should really focus on and develop as the villains of the WoT and who do you think they should try to get as actors to play them?!

During the guitar reveal Q&A, Rafe alluded that some characters may have been merged. Who do you think they merged? Here's my top bets. Gawyn + Galad = Galawyn Uno + Ingtar = Ungaro Thom + Asmodean = Thomas Rahvin + Bryne = Steve

Looks like Amazon is going to market Prime Day pretty hard. Per Deadline Amazon is releasing exclusive streaming concerts to coincide with Prime Day. These Prime exclusives are going to drop on June 17 and be available for 30 days. It seems more and more likely that the first true "teaser trailer" for WoT will hit sometime between June 17 and the beginning of Prime Day on June 21. With them specifically focused on marketing Prime, the likelihood that they will ignore this opportunity to promote their shiny, new fantasy product seems vanishingly small. At a minimum, they will want WoT included in an "and coming soon, exclusively to Prime Video" type ma…

Has anyone connected to the show production talked about how they plan to represent the dream world activity? Apologies if it has been discussed and I missed it, thanks for any info.

I confess, I haven’t been following the news about Prime WOT, and I’m too lazy to dig through all the showrunner interviews. So I was hoping the regulars here could help me gauge the state of play as we approach Summer 2021. I have a few specific wishes for this show. Like on terms of, these are things that I think could make the show better than the book series if properly executed. For each one, can you please tell me if I should be optimistic, or prepared for disappointment, based on what you’re hearing? 1. Start Ep 1 with the Prologue, just as RJ intended (pretty sure this ain’t happening due to actor continuity….) 2. Keep the first 3…

I looked for a newer casting thread to have replaced the one that got locked for, well, let's just leave it at that. If there already is another thread going I'm sure an admin type will move this there (and thanks on ya for that, mate!). I just have to get these three ideas out of my head before it explodes. I know for two of them it is probably too late (and one of the actors is probably too tied up with another show), but I just have this driving need to get this out of my head. So here goes: For Elaida do Avriny a'Roihan: Ruth Wilson (currently starring in His Dark Materials so is probably not available, I presume, but burn me if she…

YAWN! Another 2 seconds of... These little blips might be more exciting if we knew when the show was coming. Just give us a date - whether it be August 2021 or March 2022 or whatever. The rest of it doesn't matter until then (well, for me anyway). The date will get me going no matter how soon or late it is - I'll put it on my calendar, take a day off work, and stock the liquor cabinet... These mini teasers just frustrate me.

I've been thinking about some scenes that I think would be awesome in the show that were not in the actual books. Alternate first scene: If they must show the beginning scene of dragonmount, they should keep it short, and have Lewis Therin see his dead wife, see blood on his hands and then scream really loud (no forsaken taunting and that crap). Then have a special effects montage that shows the breaking from satelite view in super fast motion along with brief zoom-in teaser scenes of the trolloc wars, hawkwing surrounding tar valon, the fall of Aradohol, and then zooming into a mid battle scene on the slopes of dragonmount where Sharin is dying and giving birt…

This fandom is absolutely rabid for information concerning the upcoming television series. In this essay, I'll explore the history of Amazon's Wheel of Time marketing and what it might tell us about when we might expect a trailer. What follows is very lengthy, so I've broken it down into four sections: pre-COVID (October 2018 - March 2020), the COVID hiatus (March - September 2020), filming resumes (September 2020 - present), and end with my analysis of what it all means. Pre-COVID: Amazon officially announced the production of Wheel of Time on October 2, 2018. The official series Twitter page debuted on November 28, 2018 by announcing the Season One wri…

In the last few months, we got a steady pace of one new release of material every month: 17 march, 19 february, 15 january, 23 december. Tomorrow it will be 4 weeks since last release, so I expect we should get something. Also, according to what somebody else posted here, they hired people to translate the trailer for 22 april. So perhaps tomorrow we get the last teaser, and in one month we get the full trailer?

If the series gets into S3-4 i could see an expanded role for Noal, combine him with Chel Venin the Horse Thief, keep his friendship with Olver(who would have to be introduced a bit later then in the books, due to his age). The revelation of his true identity in TOM and his appearance in AMOL would then have an even greater impact.

Yesterday I started working on trying to figure out what is happening with filming (I still don't buy the notion that production was "shut down" on November 2). One of the things I looked at was Geeky Eri's very helpful videos about the early filming blocks. Something in her block 2 video stuck in my brain as being off, and it set me to speculating... Helena Westerman's casting as "Laila Aybara" was a bit of a bombshell. We've all been assuming that she is a wife or sister and many (myself included) speculated that they will kill her off on Winternight as a means of providing Perrin with additional motivation to leave the Two Rivers. I think that's a solid rea…

In the recent Q&A, Rafe talked about how unfortunately they had to cut some major locations from the first book due to budget restraints. My question is, which locations do you think are not needed or in which relevant events could easily be moved to another place?

We got a pot of St. Patrick's Day gold from WoTOnPrime today. Check out the video here! Rosamund Pike also posted it on her Instagram account and added some interesting commentary: So, what do y'all think of our first look at Moiraine Damodred?

Well, we have our new content from WOTonPrime! The Ruby hilted dagger is released. This is clearly footage lifted directly from the show. My impression is that this is a clip from a bonafide trailer. What do y'all think?

WoT Up! has a new video out. In it, he discloses that foreign language tracks for the trailer will be recorded on April 22. Since these tracks are the last thing added, it is reasonable to assume that the trailer will be released within a couple of weeks of that date. The rest of the video contains some interesting speculation about what the trailer release means for release of the final product. In the video, Jon uses the Witcher and Game of Thrones as reference points before speculating about a December release. I'll note that Amazon tends to have a much shorter interval between trailer and release date - in most cases no longer than 60 days. Reg…

I am really keen to see how this adaption pans out. What is the ONE scene you have always wanted to see visualised? For me it has always been a toss up between The Prologue in TEOTW or Dumai's Wells. What do you want to see?

A long long time ago, before the rain, before the snow ... I had wonderfully intense discussions with the readers back then on who really was the greatest swordsman in the books. Not greatest melee fighter - I think its pretty easy to say that goes to Matrim - but rather, the most skilled at with a sword. Is there answer? I maintain, 20 years after the start of that discussion, that its Galad ... but there are so many great answers that I acknowledge there may not be a true answer. Skilled swordsmanship was a big part of the reads for me - I enjoyed the details. Will the TV show focus on those or will they just be one of the many details a…

Yesterday's dagger reveal got posted by The Refinery Creative - a marketing company based in LA that does work for many large studios and streaming services. On Refinery Creative's vimeo page, the video is titled "Social Teaser". It's fair to conclude that the video was created by that agency. This would mark the first hard evidence that marketing for the show has begun in earnest. This is a developing story...

Well, I was wrong. No Super Bowl trailer will be coming (and nothing for #WoTWednesday today either) per this tweet from the official Twitter account. The last bullet point "...we're working on a new video featuring something [redacted] to hopefully share soon, Light willing" is about as perfect an Aes Sedai statement as one could imagine. It will be interesting to see what they have in store (could be literally anything) and when they drop it. (Just because there's no Super Bowl spot, doesn't mean the content won't be released before Sunday). In my opinion, the nature of whatever is coming next will be revelatory concerning the release plan. If it's another p…

Haven't been around much and always been more of a "lurker" and boy this place has changed! Good stuff. I was never very active but nice to see with the advent of the show things have really picked up. My question or rather my major concern is this: Anyone worried this will turn out to be an MTV pop style prepubescent piece of... well I won't say it. To be honest I've stayed away from looking up too much about it but from what little I have seen I'm a little concerned. The reason for this is my recent watching (or attempt to do so) of the Shannara show that came out a few short years ago. Which has been..well.. look at the MTV com…

Our buddy over at WoT Up recently posted a video in which he reveals some of the actors cast to do the Portuguese language track for the Wheel of Time series. He also talks about the contracts for these actors being 6 to 9 months in length. From that information, he extrapolates a release date late in the year. The video is very interesting, but I think it comes to the wrong conclusion. Rather than being a sign that the release is 6-9 months away, I believe the fact that alternate language actors have been hired is a sign that we are on the cusp of release. Here (in brief) is why: First - it's common for voice projects to be contracted on a monthly…

Rosamund Pike posted this on her Instagram today. She's doing studio work in Prague. It looks like ADR work to me. And Rafe Judkins liked the post. There's also a new Deadline Hollywood article where Pike discusses Wheel of Time Does this mean they are back to work in Czechia?

It's no secret that Amazon studios is trying to find the new GoT with the LotR and WoT shows... So which, if any, characters do you think they'll kill off for the show? I honestly hope they don't kill off any major characters because that's what I disliked about GoT. But I think they might have Tam al'Thor & some Emond's Fielders die. And perhaps some Whitecloaks and Borderlanders, maybe Intar?? In the first season.
