Some astute fans have noticed the last two reveals from the production team relate to Iron (Rand's sword) and Music (Thom's guitar.) Is this a ta'veren-like coincidence or do you think Rafe is trying to disrupt the ancient treaty with the Eelfinn ("Courage to strengthen, fire to blind, music to dazzle, iron to bind.")? Update: Sorry, everyone, I created the poll with the comments disabled. I just fixed it. Hope you will all chime in! (Thanks to the admin for letting me know ?)

As of late I've had fever dreams of The Wheel of Time series movies being done perfectly by Studio Ghibli - if the current series does the books injustice I Suggest studio Ghibli where it is unlikely where politics will mesh into our beloved series or where nudity exists in the books might be taken too far in the tv series untastefully where it was tasteful in the books but where Studio Ghibli would do so masterfully. Among many other types of scenes where studio Ghibli would masterfully build the world of the books and handle the powers that whichever side and or gender draw from would be shown in pleasant sight and pleasant variations to vile variations - it just seems …

First and foremost, let us all take a moment to bid farewell to 2020 like Mat bidding farewell to the Gholam. I can only hope that whatever malevolent spirit that cursed us with this last year suffers the same fate... Moving on... We now know that we won't be getting any new content today. My previous prediction of a definitive release announcement is hanging on by a thread. (I think it only fair to count a hypothetical 1/6 announcement as being close enough to the New Year to count). But there is still hope!! It's really not possible to avoid linking the turning of the calendar with the turning of The Wheel. Plenty of built in symbolism…

I know we are all anticipating the the official news from Amazon today. Personally, I'm expecting it to be a short teaser. Something akin to this first teaser for Game of Thrones. What do y'all think?

None of the characters from Two Rivers were black! Jordan created a varied world, with lots of races and ethnicities. There were people of color in the world, just not in Two Rivers! The fact all shows now have to have politically correct and diverse casts, takes away from the wonderful descriptions and characters traits we have grown to care about. Lan was not Asian...he was a huge blond man, more akin to a Viking. Egwaine had white skin that made her red hair stand out, she was not a black woman. I am sure all these actors and actresses are wonderful, but they fall far short of being adequate representations of the characters in the books, which is what us …

UPDATE: I fell for it. It was not the official Twitter account, but a parody account with a similar name. Womp, womp. The official Twitter account announces that it will answer 10 questions about the series. Questions will be determined by the most liked questions posted in the replies. See the Tweet here: Directly engaging with the fandom in this manner is a significant development from a marketing perspective and supports the idea that we are getting nearer and nearer to a trailer and/or announced release date.

While most (if not all) of us on here would want a word-for-word adaptation of the books for the series, we all understand that to be impossible. This got me thinking of who and what I would be OK with them cutting out, or rather presenting an amalgamation character. This brings us to Galwyn. As I am sure everyone has figured out by now, Galwyn would be a combo of Galad and Gawyn. My suggestion is to take the story arc of Gawyn from EoTW thru LoC, then take the story arc of Galad thru the rest of the series. This way, you have the most interesting stories of both characters, eliminating the lulls of each, and have just 1 character. So, pictur…

Disrespecting Mr.Jordan's vision. He put his heart, soul, ...life into creating that world. The minutest detail... right down to the stubble of Perin's beard. You spit on all of that, and scraped him off the soles of your boots, to jump onboard the Oboma train. You, selling out his vision, is not what he would have wanted, nor is it what I've been waiting, with anticipation, for.

First post so forgive me if this has been brought up. I did a search but haven't had time to read through everything on the board yet. Long time reader of the series. I'm hoping beyond hope that this will do well as a TV series, obviously. So....thinking BIG...they could very easily give certain characters their own spin-offs after the first 5 or 6 years. Matt is on his own for a long time - could have his own series for one or two seasons before re-joining the main series at the end. Same thing for Egwene, Elayne and Nynaeve. Even Perrin ends up with his own cast of characters for a time. The "group" all split off into two or three smaller groups and could c…

Isn't really. Per Daniel Greene, filming was already complete and the only thing remaining to be shot are pickups. This evidently isn't going to throw off the release schedule. See here for the video.

Characters and story lines will be cut from the upcoming Amazon series. We all know this. I've come to terms with the likelihood that the Seafolk and the Kin are done for. In speculating about who will be in and who will be out, Thrasymachus and I have been debating the utility of Egeanin as a character and whether she should be eliminated from the upcoming series. She needs to stay. Egeanin is important to the plot, sure. But her inclusion is required for the symbolic role she plays as a bridge between the Seanchan and, ultimately, the White Tower. Her Role in the Plot: As we know, Egeanin first appears in tGH when she boards the Spray, seizi…

This is more of a theoretical question than a practical one, since it revolves around the events of the later books, but I want to get your guy's opinion on this. Obvious, it will be extremely heartbreaking when we see Madeleine Madden as Egwene collared as Damane, and triumphant when she's freed. It's a horrifying concept. However, in the books, if feels like when the main characters make uneasy alliances with the Seanchan, the Damane get used a lot for the cause of our heroes. Tylee uses them to help free Faile in Malden, and they are all over the last battle, Mat even using one to make a gateway so he can see the battlefield. My question is are…

So I'm diving into AMoL right now in my latest re-read of the series, and found myself thinking that these books were written to be made into a TV series. The impeccably, and at times excruciatingly, detailed descriptions of the people and places of Randland gives such vivid images as I read. I can see it in my mind as if it is being acted out. Just imagine seeing for the first time on TV a Tairen. With his beard oiled to a point, his puffy sleeves and felt cap. An Illianer with his beard leaving his upper lip bare, and 'My aged grandmother! You do be a flaming Tairen!' A woman from Ebou Dar with her marriage knife hanging in her bosom, her puffy skirts pinned up …

As a longtime fan of the books, I am beyond excited for this show. Love the casting; I think Rafe, for the most part, says all the right things; locations look great; budget is encouraging. Knowing it is an *adaptation*, I am prepared for and willing to embrace necessary changes, and even some unnecessary ones. We can't have everything we want! The only thing that tamps down my enthusiasm is this lingering doubt regarding what Brandon Sanderson may have been referring to when he bluntly said that the show contains at least one big change that he, for one, was not too thrilled about. (I forget his exact words, but I think I am interpreting his claim fairly.) I have a lot o…

KiWhere's the Malkeri being officially made Korean, with Lan' casting choice, does this mean the other border Landers are going to start being Asian as well. It would make sense with the Shienarsns, since they are based on Japanese culture anyway, with samurai like armor katana-like longswords, and top Knots, but what about the other borderlander nations? I'm pretty sure they're going to go with either Romani or Indian for Saldeans, given their description as darker-skinned often with largish prominent noses, which is very common among both those people's. But I don't remember much about the other borderlanders descriptions of culture or et…

Noting that tomorrow (9/16) is the anniversary of Robert Jordan's passing. Also noting that tomorrow is #WoTWednesday. I can't imagine that we won't get something from the team tomorrow. Is it too much to hope that it will be a longer teaser?

On the casting page it lists Clare Perkins being cast as Kerene Nagashi, one of The Searchers when Gitara foretold the Dragon Reborn's birth on Dragonmount. Does this mean we will simply see a flashback of the sudden foretelling and Gitara dying, with Kerene in the room along with Suian and Morraine? Or will they go further and show the search and how they tracked down a boy born in a specific time window that narrows his age, back to the Two Rivers and Morraine's eventual arrival there, etc?

Seems like there are a lot of major castings still not revealed. Ishamael (obviously) Aginor/Balthamel (one or both) Borderlanders: Agelmar at a minimum but also likely Ingtar, Uno and Masema Elayne: Just cant believe they cut here from Season 1 Morgase: Possible cut, they could possibly skip the entire Morgase plot but I doubt it since the Whitecloaks are in Byrne: Elaida "Surprise" AIEL: Likely Aviendha but possibly Rhuarc Verin: Can wait until Season 2 (she probably will be a name actress-hugely pivotal role) Green Man: I think it's Steve to be hones…

We've gotten reliable news that Keira Chansa will be portraying a young Siuan, so that would mean Maria Kennedy could not be playing the older version of Siuan. Pretty sure that leaves her as Verin, or maybe Elaida, but Verin is more important in Book 1&2 than Elaida. Also do we know if its been confirmed that little Robyn Betteridge is playing young Moiraine?

Lots of people see season one extending well into tGH. I don't see it - casting decisions, episode titles, and leaked set photos notwithstanding. And more importantly, I think that if the show is going to be the best that it can be, it needs to stick to Book 1 for season 1. I say "the best that it can be" because there is simply no way for a tv series - no matter how well done - to be a scene-for-scene duplication of the books. It's not possible and would also suck. But a truly great show will preserve Jordan's world building, main characters, and plot. It needs to be written to be an engaging, entertaining show for people who have not read the books. That, in…

Took me a long time to convince the office to let me make this video, but was so worth it to know I was getting paid to talk about the best fantasy series coming to TV. Love to know what you guys think. I know I'm just skimming the surface with this video, but hopefully I can make more in depth ones in the future.

When goofing around with my own amateur adaptation, the Trakand clan always seems to present the most difficult problems. From when to introduce Elayne to whether to keep Morgase to how to eliminate Gawyn (kidding!), the Trakands always seem to present problems. Here are a few guesses about how things might play out for our favorite royal Andorans: Maria Doyle Kennedy is Morgase. [UPDATED] This is just a guess based on casting information that we have right now. Most speculation about Kennedy's role has focused on Siuan, Elaida, Verin, and even Cadsuane. I propose another possibility: Morgase Trakand. With Keira Chansa being cast as a young Siuan, Kennedy…

The Mistress of Novices and the Wise Ones sure do a lot of lady spanking! Do you think we'll see as much of it in the show as we do in the books? I think they'll tone it down. Thoughts?
