As much as we'd all love it if no characters were sacrificed, it's clearly impossible. So, just for fun, what are your ideas for characters who could be combined. Here are three ideas: (1) Min + Hurin Hurin is needed only for his ability to track Padan Fain. But Min's viewings are flexible enough where the writers could substitute her. Bonus: the relationship between Min and Rand can develop on screen rather than being based on a single quick interaction. (2) Dena + Aludra Aludra is a low-key critical character, who sort of bounces around on the margins of the story. Giving her a relationship with Thom (maybe making them a performing team…

Imagine if, in Lord of the Rings, Hobbiton started out full of dwarves and elfs and humans and orcs, because we don't want to seem racist with our casting and it's more "woke" to have a diverse starting group. Lets discuss how much that would ruin the story, and compare that to The Wheel of Time series that has countries and societies with different ethnicity and rich cultural differences based on a long history of social isolation and in some cases xenophobia and racism that makes it obvious just by looking at someone what country they are from. Aemon's Field is clearly stated to be genetically homogeneous because they are all descendants of Manetheren and have been isol…

YouTuber and WoTFan extraordinaire Daniel Greene has just made Rafe's television show with Amazon Prime Video moot with this brilliantly funny video recreating the series via Vine videos. Be prepared to laugh. Methinks he needs to do a few more of these.

Someone made a good post on this in one of the bigger threads that was much more thorough, but I thought it would make a good topic on its own. Most of my guesses are going to be short and sweet. We have titles for episodes 1-4 and 6 so far. 101. Leavetaking - I'm hoping this will be a longer episode, at least an hour and a half. Seems like a lot of time should be spent introducing the main characters, but clearly by the end of the episode they must either be fleeing the Two Rivers or, possibly but less likely, fleeing the farm and heading to the Two Rivers. 102. Shadow's Waiting - Seems pretty obvious 103: A Place of Safety…

This is from Kate Franz's Instagram story several days ago. It is Kate with Joe Layton and Bart Edwards (presumably, since she tagged them in it). Bart played Duny in the Witcher and stars in Young Wallander. Another cast member perhaps? Sorry it's so small. I'd make it bigger if I could. I haven't figured out how to post on here from imgur yet.

Most people, including me, love Mins character, but she does sort of spoil the harem theme by being Rand’s steady girlfriend. Also in the books Elayne and Rand have a ridiculously short amount of time together. Then let’s look at Elaynes story. You could probably lose it all and not notice. So what if Mins story became Elayne’s? And min sadly becomes part of cutting that needs to happen to turn these huge books into a tv series?

Overall, I am cautiously optimistic about the series, this is not meant to be a thread of pre-emptive complaining, just checking to see who people feel most unsure about when it comes to cast and crew announced so far or maybe just your overall impressions. Rafe Judkins (Showrunner) - Unfortunately, I do not love Rafe's previous work, though I know a lot of people liked Chuck and Agents of Shield. I really don't like either show and I tried to rewatch some episodes recently that I know Rafe wrote of both, and yeah, just can't do it. I think it's not so much Rafe, though, as just the set-up and method of both shows. The directing is also very pedestrian and it'…

Allot of commentary so far, hints that the show will open with Moiraine's arrival in the Two Rivers. This is a bad move imo. Whatever you thought about the "Winter Dragon" stunt, the fact remains that the death of Lews Therin, the prologue of the entire series, is essential for setting the tone of what is to come, and why it's coming. Remember the Game of Thrones opener? The "Others" and the rangers... It kicked off the whole story and immediately left you wanting to know more, as the books did. If it had started off with Bran learning his archery skills... You get the point. I believe The Wheel of Time has to start the same way. Especially for those who will…

Hi Guys, I'm a long time Wheel of Time fan and I've been getting back into the series, since my girlfriend is now reading it in preparation for the TV Show. I work with computer graphics so I did version of what I imagined the trolloc barging in on Winternight might look like.

So, biggest concern from me? That show will be a subliminal manifestation, from the ideological groups. Meaning what? Meaning that they will try to make it more about "empowerment", then about the story. Cast is solid. I love the fact that they gave main role to bunch of new faces, and gave us experience actors, who can support the young cast and carry the burden of more complicated parts on them. Some things could easily be pushed aside, as the talks about cloth and supporting characters. But, I really don't see a way for Elayne, Aviendha or Min, having different direction or love interest. Because, their love and guidance is what define Rand and his fight. Hope that th…

Hey y'all, what do you make of the casting announcement about Alanna and her warders? Owein is renamed as Maksim (maybe so he's not confused with Thom's nephew Owyn, would be my guess), but it seems so strange to me to cast her now. She doesn't show up till book 2 (I mean, New Spring too, but in the main sequence) and isn't really much of a factor until TSR. Seems reasonable to conclude that she'll be a bigger character in the TV show. Any theories as to what her role in season 1 might be?

Wilf Scolding is best known for playing Rhaegar Targaryen in Game of Thrones. Based on his looks, I believe he could be great as Galad.

Anyone care to make a bet or a prediction on our first tv show trailer? I'm 100 percent convinced it will be a failure. Daniel Henney as Lan is the worst possible casting choice they could have made.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMXsQvPuX6k&t=690s i found this guy on a 3d printing channel where he is talking about how he uses 3d printing in film making. in the beginning of the video he lists of movies that he has worked on. (the place where this company is in, is Prague) At :30 he casually mentions that the reason that he was in Prague is that he is working on a big amazon Tv show there. this is the moment when i audibly gasped. So is this guy working on the t tv show?

DUMAIS WELLS !!!! I’m pumped, we are definitely getting it. Weather it’s 3 seasons or 6, we’re getting it. Plus if they can get the show to dumais Wells, it’ll get green lit for the whole series to the end. There’s just too much awesomeness in that scene to not continue the series. It’s pretty much one of the greatest chapters ever written. IMHO Now I just need to survive for at least 6 more years....

Why is there such ... I guess I'd call it 'radio silence' around WoT where there don't seem to be any fan spy reports, photos of sets, shots of props/weapons/costumes at all? I am also surprised to still not know all of the actors, whose identities are still dribbling out even well into apparent filming! When LOTR was in development, it was the polar opposite; lots of fevered activity reported on almost every day, cast announcements well before they ever set foot in NZ or shot anything, background on WETA Workshop and Digital, lots of concept art, designs, weapon mockups, a couple internet teasers even before and during filming began. Anyone who fr…

Ishamael - Moridin Lanfear - Cyndane Bethamel - Arangar Aginor - Osangar Fain - Mordeth Egeanin - Lylwen And there's probably a few I missed... Should they avoid this and keep the same names throughout the show, or change some characters names at various points like in the books? I think they should stay the same. Thoughts?

I've read all of both series, and to be honest, in the books, A Song of Ice and Fire isn't really that horrifying and brutal, no more so than Dumai's Wells. Sure, Martin actually throws the vulgar language into quote marks (while Jordan only puts his made up vulgarity into quotes, and then punts the actual vulgarity into "Uno voiced some choice words that made so-and-so blush" type stuff). And yes, Martin does include the rape which happens in the real world, and especially during medieval wartime, but he never actually focuses on it, or describes it in detail or anything. The media, and to an extent the television show, have blown all of those issues out of proportion in…
