Hi everyone, Dragonmount is about to undergo some major server infrastructure changes in the very near future. Most notably, I'm moving the ENTIRE WEBSITE to a cloud-hosting service. This means that Dragonmount will “live in the cloud” using virtual servers and will no longer exist on the computers running in my closet. This will be the first time in our 24-year history that we won’t be running on hardware that I (or a friend) owned. Hi everyone, For 15+ years, Dragonmount has offered free "DMail" where you could get YourName@dragonmount.com for free. This was a service provided by Google Workspace. Back when we signed up, this was a free service. Google extended that service to us for free for all these years. But now, alas, the Wheel turns, and Google notified me a while back that it would discontinue their free offering. We had the option to keep it going, but the cost was beyond what our humble website budget could realistically afford. Additionally, it would be overly cumbersome to set up billing for each user that was currently using the service if we chose to continue. …

That’s how it’s been done since we opened in 1998. But usernames are always public-facing, which means that people or groups with ill-intent could easily target s specific account and try to to that account using brute force. For example, they could take the name “Jason Denzel” and try lots of popular password combinations, hoping to break in. Now, we have plenty of ways to detect these brute force attacks and block them.
