Nanna Tarquin tossed and turned in her sleep, mumbling incoherently as she suffered the depredations of some imaginary assailant. One particularly violent toss rolled her out of her bed. She fell to the floor, waking almost immediately. She blinked blearily, trying to understand how she had ended up on the floor in the middle of the night. She looked around. Must have been one of the girls, they loved playing tricks on the Old Novice. Then she remembered, she was an Accepted now. She had her own room, and much nicer things filled it. A decent bed, one she kept to herself, was one such perk. She stood and prepared to get back into it. Suddenly, she felt an inv…

Lir's breath hung white and misty in the still air before him. It was cold, so cold in fact that it felt as though winter were trying to make up for all the lost time of these past months. Snow lay thick on the ground, and Lir was grateful to be riding Seeker. The spirited black gelding was one of the very few possessions left to him. The steady crunch of Seekers' hooves, and sharp clean scent of snow and forest were nearly enough to put him at ease. Nearly. Light, what am I doing out here. He shifted in the saddle with a wince. The wound to his hip was close to being fully healed, but sitting for so long in the saddle would have him limping for hours after dism…

As the title states, I have a Dedicated, and I'm looking for an interdivisional rp for him. Who's looking for fun times with an Asha'man-to-be?

I only got one post in the Saidin 101 thread, though it clocks in just over 1700 words. Do I need more Saidin Learning posts? If so, it appears that the first free RP thread I was in ended before I could get the fourth post in. Can I roll both of those requirements into one thread? For example, some practice with saidin during free time, possibly with others joining in?

Life at the Black Tower was not altogether uncomfortable for Lir Gilbearn. The organization was essentially a freestanding military whose allegiance was to the Dragon Reborn, and Lir had spent his whole youth readying himself for a military career. The biggest difference between the Asha'man and the Queens Guards in Caemyln was one of discipline. The Tower was simultaneously more and less strict than the Guards had been. The soldiers for instance were kept on a strict leash, worked nearly to death and pushed even harder than that when it came to channeling Saidin, while those raised to full Asha'man were given a great deal of freedom to pursue their own interests. The…

The sun dawned as it did every morning. The dark, cloudy sky promised another day of harsh cold winds that had replaced a blazing summer. Hot and cold. Ice and fire. Just perfect for the lesson at hand. But neither heat not cold touched the black coated men of the Farm, if anything, it encouraged the few who had yet to learn this strange skill of ignoring the temperature, to work harder and faster. The Yard thronged with activity now, a constant boom of explosion or flash of steam or sizzle of fire, accompanied by the shouts and screams of trainers and trainees. It was into this chaos that a black coated man stepped, his sleeves embroidered with the twin lightnings t…

Baran Dholwin was irritated. It was the only way he could describe his current mood. Yet another imperfectly cooked piece of meat sat on the stone in front of him. He knew what he wanted, and he tried to keep that in mind when he channeled it warm, but he always seemed to overdo it. Time after time he had been forced to eat charred meat, which wasn't as bad as eating it raw, but was still far from desirable. He was relatively sure there was a way to heat the stone in front of him so he could use it like a stove, but he wasn't sure he wanted to try it. What if he overdid that too? What if he caused the stone to explode, or what if he melted the bloody thing? The si…

Baran stepped out of his barracks, still buckling his sword around his waist. The weapon was fairly nondescript, the slightly curved blade of a simple soldier. The hilt was a solid piece of steel, wrapped in leather to make it easier to grip. It rested at his hip in an equally simple brown leather scabbard. He had been practicing with it almost as soon as he had requisitioned it from the Tower's stores of weapons. It had seemed the thing to do after his first few lessons in using weapons. His growing prowess in both the blade and the One Power had recently been rewarded with the silver sword pin of the Dedicated. He relished the advancement in rank, just as he reli…

It was dark. Good. Baran Dholwin strode northeast, towards the Soldier's Barracks. One of the responisbilities that came with his new rank was to participate in the instruction of new recruits. Most Dedicated held large classes in order to get the most training done with the largest amount of Soldiers. It was a fairly efficient method, but not one Baran had chosen to follow. Instead, he had decided to pick one Soldier at random out of the fairly large pool of new Soldiers and devote all his energy to training that one Soldier. He could train one Soldier more quickly than a large group, which would leave him with more time to pursue his own studies. It also meant h…

I know that in the books, Jordan has all of the Asha'man using swords, but is that the official policy here as well? If so, I can deal, though Gavin's not exactly the swordsman type. Not with structured forms and all that. I've never been the biggest fan with the forms and the way Jordan/Sanderson has done them. If not, do we get any sort of leeway with what weapons we do use? Obviously a gleeman will have some experience with throwing knives, and I've always been a personal fan of a twin shortsword, or twin dagger, fighting style as well. I can always carry the sword as misdirection and use something else if there needs to be some sort of middle ground. Besi…

Baran sighed and looked up at stacks of raw material he had to sift through. It was a task that might have been a bit more intimidating back when he had been a Soldier, back when he was still learning to use the One Power. The wood had been shipped in from the Braem wood, just north of the Black Tower. The stones...well, the stones hadn't needed to be shipped in. Those were easy enough to find, though Baran had to marvel at the amount of boulders the Asha'man managed to unearth. Some of them reminded him of the rocks from back home. He had heard tales of a giant statue being unearthed near Cairhien. Maybe some of the boulders were sold off from that project. He sm…

((OOC: Soldiers! Feel free to step in and just post your own responses in your own time.)) Baran stepped out onto the training field, the night's sleep quickly dispelled by the cold wind blowing across the half-frozen mud. He had come to the field early, hoping for some extra training. A few others apparently had had the same idea. They formed a small, shivering line in the early morning light. The sun was just starting to peak up over the treeline, illuminating the steam coming from their mouths. As he tried to keep himself from shaking, Baran wondered how long it would take for them to learn how to stop feeling the heat and cold so much. It had to be some weav…

I'm also interested to know how updated you are on the WoT series. Have you read all the books, including TOM, yet? I have! I'm currently doing a re-read of TOM though I find it harder to get excited for than I did with TGS. I've gone through the audio book only so far, so need to do the read version to cement it but yeah, it's slow going. Please don't post any spoilers here though!

I was wondering if any of the more literate folks around here would be willing to give Agardo a little bit of schooling. I was thinking maybe a thread that consisted of several snap shots of the poor Tairen working on what is probably his biggest weakness, ignorance.

Touching the source. How was it not possible to do, she knew she could do it. Kate had set a garbage bin on fire for the Great Lords sake. She had done it before she knew she had. But now she couldn't even get near the source. The rose was not forming, the sun was not shining and nothing would work for her. Nothing, Nothing Nothing. Kate mopped after her last Introduction to Saidar. Everyone else was doing so well, but Kate was still trying to grasp the source itself. A month here and Kate was working harder than anyone else and couldn't do anything else anyone else could do. To say she was frustrated was an understatement she was ready to give up. But after …

A cool wind blew out of the west making the tall grass on either side of the dirt road look like a vast rolling sea. The breeze licking his face was refreshing, it was good to be outdoors again. Creaks of leather and the rhythmic clopping of their horses' hooves melded with a handful of other sounds, it was almost like a well orchestrated symphony. Off to the east a dozen or so birds bolted from a copse of trees as if spooked by something or someone. The void was easy to assume, it had become natural to him. It allowed him to see so much more than a person could without it. He felt one with his surroundings. Perivar noticed Kabria staring in the same direction.…

If you think you can make a contribution to the WT in this way, please send your application to dmwhitetowerstaff @ gmail.com with the name of the post as subject matter. Before we begin, I wish to emphasise the following: The PSW is a Portal Stone world based on the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. Any characters and RPs in the PSW are expected to conform to what would be plausible or a logical extrapolation, based on the WoT books. This includes the behaviour of Aes Sedai, to a lesser extent that of Accepted, and also the relationships between Novices, Accepted and Aes Sedai. Obviously, character weaknesses make for more interesting RPs, and t…

Alrighty folks, we're going to try to get this swinging again and i need to know who's all still around to help with that process. This is a formal roll call to establish the roster from this point forward. Please post your name, years of activity, rank and role (if you have one). Maglin josVinn (started in approx 99, active until 2006ish, lurked a little in the meantime) - 7ish years. Commander of the Band (ignore my post count... i had to create a new account and lost many posts in the process :)…

Thinking of making an Aiel character, but I'm not THAT proficient / interested in weapons, and I don't want yet another channelling one, so I thought what about a Roofmistress? Any scope for someone like that here?

Yes sadly its the week before finals, and that means my time on here will be severely limited if not gone altogether. For example this week a lone I have two tests and a presentation to do, as well as what I do for work and then my finals are Monday-Tuesday next week. After that i'll probably be sleeping so if you see me much it will be later next week when i'll be back in full. Elgee has put me on relaxation posting only so possibly I will get to RPs this week. *laughs* Maybe if I find a moment and feel like messing with haveing several windows open in order to see the thread i'm replying too. *laughs* Anyway guys don't break anything and have a great week. If you need m…

Lir, being a well brought up young gentleman of noble lineage, was very fond of the sport of hunting. Now, presuming that soldiers do get at least some downtime, I wonder if he could organize a little hunting trip of soldiers maybe accompanied by a dedicated. Even an Asha'man if one were into the sport. After all what harm could come of a group of men who have to channel to do anything get into on a little hunting trip.

I have had the idea of making a Black Ajah Aes Sedai since last spring, and I've had bio written up since the summer but I'm wondering if I can have a little help with some stuff. Her name is Seheria Mori, she will be Andorian and she will be raised to the Yellow. At first I had been hoping to have her swear her oaths to the BA at the same time (well as close as they could be) as her WT oaths, so she would be a new AS and new to the Black. The more I thought about it the more I had some ideas for having her be a full Yellow sister for years and then have her be introduced to the BA (possibly by walking in on something she wasn't supposed to, and then finding a way t…

My first act as a new Dedicated will be classes! In order to leave more options for other Dedicated when they pop up, I will take one Soldier and run the Seizing Saidin class exclusively for them! One on one classes should allow people to get through their requirements faster. As to the second class, the topic will be up to the Soldier. It just can't be weapons, sorry. I don't think I'll be able to train anyone in weapons until well after I hit Asha'man. Level 10 Weapons Skill, I think. Now, I don't want to seem like I'm showing favoritism, so this'll be on the first come, first serve basis.

Hi, I wanna get back into the RP side of things (dunno if anyone will remember me, I used to RP here aaaages ago as Terren Al'Fnorrll) anyways I wanna start from the very begining, I havn't written a Bio yet, but I'd like to be "found" by an Aes Sedai on a quest of some sort, kinda get thrown into some sort of situation with her and end up on the run, eventually back to the White Tower for training. I'm open to suggestions on the idea, any Aes Sedai out there interested? Once I thrash out a plan with someone I will work up the bio and we can get started.
