Introduce Yourself

If you're new to Dragonmount, stop in and introduce yourself!

  1. Started by magiesue,

OK, you finally got me. I've visited DM before on random occasions but never got around to joining the family, so to speak. On my last visit I read about the social groups and decided to be brave. I began reading tWoT in the late '90s, can't remember which book exactly. I am now eagerly awaiting and yet dreading the last book of the series. Oh well, guess I can always reread ad infinitum... In any case, I've never had any friends who were fans of, or even knew of, Jordan or his creation. It's nice to find a group who can understand (Hello, my name is Rayah and I'm a WoTaholic...). I apologize now for any flubs I may make. I'm new at forums and such, so bear w…

  3. Started by Myriam,

Hello fine folks of Dragonmount. I was an avid member of this community a LOOOOONNNNNGGG time ago (joined in 1999 or 2000) and miss RP and RJ and all that good fun stuff. I doubt any of you remember me (and if you do I apologize ahead of time for being a bit of a young bratty thing). Will be looking into creating a WT character sometime soon. Nice to know this place is still alive and kicking. Cheers, Myriam

  4. Started by Wotain,

Hello everyone. I thought I probably should introduce myself first and how I ended up on these boards so here goes: I finally got around to reading the Wheel of Time and found myself craving a bit more material on the series or discussion about it and found these forums. I actually ended up reading the series after finishing GRRM:s A dance With Dragons and was in need of some more fantasy and a friend of mine recommended WoT. The series had been on my radar for quite some time and I had read the first 4 novels before translated to my native language in the year I-don't-even-remember but dropped it after them for reasons unknown. So I ended up buying the whole seri…

  5. Started by cpcampbell,

Hi fellow Wheel of Timers. I first heard about The Wheel of Time from friends while I was serving in the Navy onboard submarines. I was in the nuclear engineering dept. and many of us were interested in this series. The nature of our watchstations was that we would be in a small room, monitoring the nuclear reactor, for six hours at a time. There would be many times where there would be nothing going on. We would talk about many things, from motorcyles and cars, making beer, and The Wheel of Time. As such, we would all reflect the possibilities off each other, much the same way you do here. I am now out of the navy, and studying physics at the Univ. of Texas in …

Hi guys. I'm Xamol and I've swooped in here from a typical sheepherder county in England; Devon. What to tell you about me? I'm female, I love WoT, I love video games and I love, love, love to write. I'm actually getting close to being published =D I'm also an awesome person but I'll let you discover that for yourselves ;-) Can't wait to settle in here. xxXN

Hi everyone, My names Matrim Hat-rim but you can call me Mat or just Hat (NOT Batty Matty from next door!...please!)*hopeful wink* Things to know about me are as follows, I'm totaly addicted to the WOT series and must have read every book about three times now! And I can't wait for ToM!!!! Then... one more thing... I have a very evil tempered sister *looks around nervously*. When she noticed I joined DM she called me a summer ham and told me to get my nose out of her coat... so... HELP!! I don't want to watch my poor hat being scribbled on!! *sits down and cries, (and takes his hat off!)* right, thats all about me.

I'm Cenn Buie's evil twin, Benn Cuie. NOT a darkfriend, mind. Just opposite. You know, I look like him but with a mustache. And instead of thatch, I use shingles. In stead of complaining about everything, I just don't bother. And instead of smoking good Two Rivers tobac, I get my stuff from a guy in Devon Ride who... Well, perhaps I've said too much. Anyway... greetings!

  9. Started by MamaSita,

Hey everybody! I'm new to the forums. I learned about this site at JordanCon. I'm doing a re-read now and I have found myself wanting to chat about the books as I go through them again. This will only be my 2nd time through the series and I have found the re-read to be fascinating! I was told that the re-read would be better than the first time through and what an understatement. I have found the foreshadowing to be so brilliant and it is really making the books more enjoyable. I find that I understand things with better depth that I couldn't catch on the first read through. Some of the foreshadowing happens SO far in advance that you can't possibly rememb…

  12. Started by Checksy,

I belonged to DM back in college, which was about 10 yrs ago. While Ive made the time to reread the series 5 times, i lost the time to spend rummaging thru this site :) I do have a question, if anyone can help me out. . . Im almost positive that i remember a tab/link for the list of all the characters in the series, plus a short description of each. I cant seem to find it now. Am i losing my mind, or am i losing my 'finding things on the computer' abilities?

Hi there! My name is Maggie, I was dressed as Susan Ivanova from Babylon 5 at Dragon*Con this year. I hung out at the parties and the Sunday panels. Just thought I'd drop in and say hi, especially to Atlanta area fans.

  14. Started by dirtsheep,

Hello folks, Just got to Dragonmount a few days ago. You have quite a lively community here! I have known about The Wheel of Time for a long time now...and steadfastly ignored it. Then, I listened to the first few books on Audible a few years ago. Delightful, but in the end not enough to keep my ADD-addled mind going. Now, I'm actually *reading* The Eye of the World. It's a completely different experience for me than listening was...it feels deeper, more alive. I'm only 250 pages in. Given the above-mentioned ADD, I don't know if I can read 14 huge-ass books or not...but right now, I'm feeling very satisfied. I am not quite sure why I started reading…

  18. Started by Tyzack,

In an effort to stay awake driving across the country (US) I downloaded/started listening to the series that consumed my high school days; I have since re-listened through Winter's Hearth and started reading TGS last night. I must say the listening to it forced me to pay attention to all of the subtleties of the writing that I had missed before, and I can now eagerly await the conclusion of this series that once dominated my life (and is threatening to do so again!) Also, I have decided to re-use one of my hold "names" from the late nineties from various WoT-based internet boards/games/chats etc. -Tyzack

My real name is Jonas. A Swedish metalhead that spends way to much time living in a tent on metalfestivals or at the computer playing games or reading forums. Just signed up as a new member since Im big fan of the books but have only read them in Swedish so far. Planning to get my hands on some original writings so I can see how much faults the translations have. :) Want to know anything else? Just ask.

Hey everyone, I'm a 34-year old fan and webdesigner living in France. I've discovered the Wheel of Time series a few years ago and was so eager to know the full story that I gave away my French translated copies and bought the full series in English :) Now, I wish to present my respects to R. Jordan's family for their loss and thank them for choosing B. Sanderson to finish this amazing work. Being both a fan and a roleplayer, I also bought the RPG published by Wizards of the Coast but was somehow a bit disappointed in the rules they made up. So I made my own game system and so far it goes well. My players are eager to discover more about the world and I starte…

Hi. I started with this series, and I must say....I'm obsessed. I'm busy with book nr 2 and cannot wait to finish it.

  24. Started by Pantsonfire,

Wow.... I've been reading these book since I was about 13-14 (not as impressive considering I'm only 18 lol =P) and have loved them since the word go. I never thought to search the Internet for a site such as this nor imagined that one would exist. No one I know has read the books, scared off by the imposing length, so to find a friendly group of WoT fanatics online is kind of a big thing. Man I'm keen to get involved, I have a copy of all 13 books in the series plus the audiobook of 'New Spring' and have read them through several times over the years. lol and I'm on the edge of ordering some of that amazing jewelry.

Hello. I just started reading the series because I was able to pick up all the books at my local Borders for a good price before it closed down. Although I just started reading it, I've known about it for a while because I had a friend really into the series. I know he was on these forums back when it was WoTmania, as he tried to get me to join even though I hadn't read any of the series yet. I'm not sure if he's still around here. Anyway, I'll probably only be around the off-topic boards until I get through a few books to avoid spoilers. See you around the forums.

I've been in passionate love with WoT since 2006, or 2007...can't remember when I first picked up Eye of the World, but I can remember only putting it down to sleep or shower (I ate while I read.) I've been blessed with two children since then, putting me at a grand total of three, so I don't get to read like I used to. Unfortunately, I haven't picked up Knife of Dteams in 6 months....but it calls my name every time I pass the bookshelf. I feel like I'm about to be left out of a massive, almost spiritual experience. Brandon Sanderson labors diligently on AMoL, and I am far behind. (I may fall victim to spoilers here, I fear.) My hope is that by mingling with lik…

Hello Everyone, I thought it was about time to say hi instead of continually lurking in the shadows of Dragonmount An avid reader my whole life, yet I've never before felt almost compelled to put my heart on my sleeve and offer thanks to all of you who show like passion. I came to WoT shortly before The Creators passing, and although it doesn't seem enough...my heartfelt thanks RJ for many hours of enjoyment losing myself in your vision. It's my 3rd read-through the series to date, and I know WoT is a friend i'll continue to return to until the dream ends. Take care all.

  29. Started by Alex Drougas,

Hi everybody. I may be new in this community but I've been an avid follower and reader of the series for decades. I've lost count of the times I've read and re-read each book (I even had to replace a couple of them as they came apart)and every time I discover something new. Am I an addict, I wonder! Anyway, I must confess that I was disappointed by the fact that the final book won't be published until 2012, so I'll just have to re-read everyting once again. Take care and may the light shine on you all.

i've been lurking on this site for years, and finally made an account. i used to be word on wotmania, i doubt i was ever noticed on there, even though i posted more that once a theory that rand would break down and cry when he saw his father again (i was off but not that far heh) but i decided to make an account due to a post over on the memory non spoiler concerning perrin and fain. i happen to disagree with them that perrin couldn't kill fain outside the unseen world. perrin has the most powerful power wrought weapon that has been created since the breaking of the world, and the fact of being ta'veren working for him. i suppose i should have made an account earlier, i'v…
