Just down from the mountains to say hello. Ever come across a cairn that was a waygate? Oh, the places they go! Hard to find an exact return route though. Longtime SF/Fantasy reader here, from LotR, Covenant, WoT, ASoI&F, First Law, Hyperion Cantos, Dark Materials, Stormlight, Dresden, Ender, Gentlemen Bastard, among others. I've referenced the deep-dive discussions on DM for many years but only joined recently. WoT was a fascinating journey, twice taken over the years. My favorite books in the WoT series are tSR, KoD and aMoL. Looking forward to the Amazon series, but I dread the compare/contrast discussions that will inevitably accompany it. Hope it sta…

I'm new to Dragonmount, a longtime (re)reader of the books and I wanted a community to experience the TV show with. I live in Canada, although I spent my childhood in the US and my teenage years in the UK. I picked up the Wheel of Time on the recommendation of a friend, circa 2002. Back then, Moiraine was a huge role model for me because of her strength and poise (a teenage girl at the time, I felt like I needed to learn both). Now my favourite character is Egwene, because I think she has such a beautiful character arc. She grows so much, while staying utterly true to herself. There's also a special place in my heart for Mat and his quarterstaff. T…

Cleansing of SaidinI have put a lot of thought into this abstract process and after reading and re-reading how Rand and Nyneave accomplished this feat I associated to one of the specialties in which I work. I am a registered nurse and have worked in hemodialysis which the process removes solute (substances) in the blood, water and other solutes in two ways that can be akin to the cleansing of Saidan. First, osmosis a passive phenomenon works is with the movement of water through semi-permeable membrane from a place with lower water content to a place of higher amount in the dialysate bath contains 2 grams of dextrose. Solutes also move by this method solutes move from a p…

I just joined and thought I'd introduce myself! Linnile here, and this past year I finished my first full read-through of the series. I started back in high school and only got to book eight before I graduated/ran out of books in the school library. I forgot about it over the next couple of years and then I met one of my best friends that got me back into them. Now I've finished and oh boy do I feel like I missed out on finishing it all those years ago. Granted, I've finished them now and am super excited to share my love for the series with all of you and get to know some great people! Also, stupid excited and nervous for the tv show.

Hello, WoT Community, My name is Jesús Delgado, and I am a new Wheel of Time reader from Mexico. Currently reading The Dragon Reborn and I am loving it, even though the first half is very slow. I am yet to see if it continues that way, though. Haha I know it's just the third book but The Wheel of Time is so close to become one of my favorite fantasy series. Though I have to be honest, English is my second language, and sometimes I have to get some help from the dictionary/internet when I get stuck. Ah, but that's about it. I'm looking forward to meet you all and interact!

Was introduced to The Wheel of Time several years ago by a friend, and - the occasional issue aside - absolutely loved it. With the show on the horizon I finally decided to dive into the chaos and try and become a part of the fandom. However, my first mistake was joining a Facebook group, which has been so ridiculously negative about every minor element or change (and blood and ashes, so many freaking memes) that I can't envision any decent discussion about the show there. So, I'm hoping that this place will at least provide a balanced platform for conversing on a topic that we all love. So yeah, hi. ?

Hey yall, I'm DeadRabbit23, a first time reader of the Wheel of Time. I have read ASOIAF, LOTR, and the first two Witcher anthologies. I am longtime Transformers fan whose first exposure to fantasy were my father`s beat up paperbacks of the Silmarillion, Lord of the Rings, and the Iron Tower Trilogy, the last of which is my single favorite series to this day. I have already finished The New Spring and seven chapters in to Eye of the World and I am loving what I see. I'll be reading this in between many other books, just to take it slow. I look forward to hanging with you guys and experiencing this world. Deadrabbit23.

G'day all, I'm Satrim, or Daz on the streets, and I have been a fan of WoT for only 4 or 5 years now. I'm about to finish my second re-read, however I can't find my copy of AMoL I'm normally a regular over at Tarvalon.net, where I was the first male aspirant and Aes Sedai of the Red Ajah (We've had a few more blokes snared in our clutches since then). Over the last week though I've been checking out a few more WoT forums to conquer join, and here I am. I'm a forklift driver from Australia with dreams of someday joining the R.A.N. My hobbies include Bushcraft, Blacksmithing, Reading(duh), Fish keeping and sleeping. Favorite WoT character is either Mat or …

I first started reading WOT in 1990, and have finished as books have come out since. It's been a long time since I did a full read, but I'm listening to the audio books now that the show is going to come out. I really loved the books and there are certain moments in it that are just awesome. Certain characterizations that are great too. But I find myself really hoping profoundly that the show /is/ a new turning of the wheel...an opportunity to do a really strong edit, both getting rid of cruft/boring stuff in the middle books, and to remove or retune some of the really problematic stuff that verges on abuse in some areas. I think it can do that and not lose a…

Hi. I just finished my first readthrough of the series and enjoyed it. I was lurking about a few days ago reading some of the discussions and well now I'm wanting to add my 2cents where possible. I came to this series after I kept hearing about it over the net. People on reddit suggested it to me and I put it off for a variety of reasons, but ultimately decided to give it a shot even if it was a trap of some sort. I still don't know what they wanted me to see in this. Maybe they just genuinely thought I'd enjoy it. Well I did. I'm not a huge fantasy guy but I loved ASOIF. Some of those who recommended WOT did so because of my love and interest in…

Hi there thought I'd introduce myself as I used to use this forum a long time ago but life kinda happened and I dropped off. I started doing a reread of Wot in preparation for the new TV show and found and realised I was still getting emails from Dragonmount so I thought I'd say hi. Hope you are all doing well.

Greetings everyone! Lifetime fan of the WoT and, once upon a time, i was an original member of these forums...but that was 20ish years ago and back when I had an AOL account. Its a shame that I dont know how to find my old posts, because i'd love to go back and read them! In any event, all of the anticipation of the upcoming show has gotten me thinking about this series again and what its meant to me. Out of curiosity, i poked around online to see if there's anywhere to find RJ /WoT memorabilia, but other than the usual sites like ebay and amazon, i really didnt know where to start. Can anyone recommend any good sites that might carry some intere…

Hey. I signed up a long time ago but never really got active. With the show coming out, I've found myself getting pumped for it, and started venturing back into the WoT corner of the internet again. Started a reread a few months ago in preparation for S1, am 75% thru TSR right now. And despite it being reread 5 or 6, am still spotting nuances I didn't see in the past. Such is the level of complexity of the turnings of the Wheel! First read EOTW in 1994 as a sophomore in college. Got up to LOC before having to wait for RJ to publish ACOS. Used to surf this site, Theoryland, the really old rec.arts.whatever the rest of it was bulletin boards stuff. …

Hi, my name is Ana. I've been reading WoT since '97, I believe. I've was a part of the community of Wotmania (now closed down) a long time ago and I'm currently also a member of another community. I know some people from there that are here as well and decided I wanted to check it out finally, especially with the show coming out. I go into WoT because, when I was 12, my older theater friends insisted for a year that I would like them. I finally caved after hearing one of them read aloud a scene from The Shadow Rising, when the bubbles of evil were attacking. I do have to say, if you can get a thesbian to read WoT to you, do it. I was hooked after that and pe…

I'm new to Dragonmount so I thought I'd say hello. I am a retired sailor and back in the early to mid 1990's, while floating around on various oceans and seas, I began to read the Wheel of Time series. I made it through book 7. Unfortunately book 8 hadn't been written yet. So I waited. While waiting for the next books I got married and had a child. So life got in the way for a while. We all heard of RJ's illness so we waited more. More deployments came and went. Eventually I forgot about finishing the series. Then in 2020 I heard they're making the series into a TV show and I though HEY! I should really read these books before the TV show comes out. …

Hello! New to this forum but a long, long time fan of the books. Got into it in my late teens and was just a part of my life for so long, reading and re-reading everything each time a new book came out and being part of another community of like-minded people for a couple years (Sadly it kind of went away long before the last book came out) and when it did, when I actually had the holy grail last book on my hands and got about halfway through, I went a bit loopy and figured if I didn’t actually finish the book it wouldn’t have to end right? So, I just closed the book and went on with my life figuring that would be it. Only to hear rumor…

Hi all, call me Dae. First, I must confess. We recently moved and I had to cull my 3000+ book collection. I looked at my WoT series and decided to only keep the first book. Because of sentimental reasons: it has the awesomest cover and I really enjoyed reading it. But the rest of the series was mismatched and looked aweful: I had given the books to someone to read and they had ... cracked the spines! Every time I looked at them my heart broke. So ... I threw all of them away, because I had no time to donate them. *cringes* Now you know me at my worst. The good news is that now I have some space, not a lot, to get the whole series in a matching…

And so I decided to join a forum I have heard much about, in a hopefully attempt at unloading the series and discussing it with some others who are fans like me. I look forward to unwrapping this series as I have heard this sites users have done for years with the utmost love and intrigue. My only disappointment being, not being able to discuss events in the books and future books, as they were being written with others. Though this came with the luxury of being able to do a full read through without breaks which was nice as I waited about a nano second before picking up each next book. Anyway, I loved most every book from start to finish and all I can say is wow, …

Hi all, I'm Doug. I'm a long time reader of the WoT ( I started reading it shortly before A Crown of Swords came out, and reread from the beginning with each new volume), but new to Dragonmount (although I perused the site back in the 2000s I think - hard to remember). Excited to now be getting my children into the best series ever.

Hello everyone, I'm Braedan. I actually created an account on this site many, many years ago and never made a post. I've been a member on other WoT fan sites over the years, but found my way back here and wanted to become an active participant on the forums. I look forward to meeting new people and other WoT fans. ?

WOT is without a doubt the best series I've ever read of any genre. The plot and character development are second to done. I've read the entire series three times now and I am really excited that there is a TV series out now. I am somewhat anxious about the TV series in that I'm sure the characters won't look and act the way I've envisioned them in my head but I'm going to watch it no matter what!

I've recently started rereading the series (just finished TDR) and I gotta say, it's even better the second time around. So much foreshadowing and small details I never picked up on in my first read through. It helps that Its been like 10 years since the last time I read it, even though I know the major story beats most of how we get to those is completely new to me again.
