“Hopper, how are you here? I saw you die. I felt you die!” 'All are here. All brothers and sisters that are, all that were, all that will be.' ALL ARE HERE. ALL BROTHERS AND SISTERS THAT ARE, ALL THAT WERE, ALL THAT WILL BE. THAT is ALL WOLVES EVER! If it means what it seems to mean then the Last Battle in TAR is gonna be a helluva dogfight, er, wolf fight. How many would that be total? No wonder ol' Slayer is trying to kill them but he needs more than a bow. Hmmmm. The chapter/book fits the "checkov's gun" comment by Sanderson on Twitter too but that probably isn't the same thing. I'm an avid Forgotten Realms reader, the books are short and sweet. I have a big collection of Forgotten Realms books that I haven't read yet, but with A Memory of Light approaching, I'm debating whether to reread WoT or start working on the books I haven't read. I recently finished ToM for the first time, and re-read TEotW. But I'm not sure if I have time before AMoL is done to read from TGH to at least TPoD, with a school semester approaching. What would you do?!

I always assumed that Rand's first channeling experience was the lighting bolt that struck the inn in Four Kings. My friend claims that was caused by he and Mat being Ta'varen, but I pointed out that Rand became ill after that, which is known to be a side effect of coming into ones' power. I just find it weird that Rand would fall ill just after a lighting bolt strikes to save him. If the sickness had been caused by cold, there would have been some sign of him being sick beforehand, but there was not.

I've just been rereading TSR again and got up to the bit where Siuan Sanche was overthrown, tortured and stilled and it got me thinking. Surely the torture bit where they got all the info out of her broke the 3rd oath: Never use the One Power as a weapon, except against Shadowspawn (Darkfriends also qualify), to save her own life, or her Warder's, or the life of another sister. Surely when they were torturing her to find out all she knew they were breaking this. I know some of the people doing the torturing were Black Ajah and thus could do what they wanted but the rest including Elaida weren't. Since Min says afterwards that they didn't name Siuan as a darkfriend…

I'm a little over halfway through my first read through of Eye of the World, waiting for AMOL to come out. I didnt catch this on my first read, but I found that RJ's writing style is a bit confusing. At the beginning of Play For Your Supper, it mentions Rand and Mat receiveing scarves from a farmer, but timeline wise, this does not happen until after they had already left Four Kings to get away from Gode. I was very confused, but then I realized that the entirety of Play for your supper, Dark Waits, and Four KIngs in Shadow go go between the present time, with Rand and Mat traveling after Four Kings, and Flashbacks. I still don't fully understand why RJ wrote it …

I'm currently re-reading through Fires of Heaven and a couple of things I just read are kind of bugging me. Nothing groundbreaking or necessarily important, but I'm curious nonetheless. 1. Moghedien calls Liandrin "little sister". For some reason I hadn't noticed that before. The only other time I've seen that is from Rand, I believe after VoG, but perhaps before? Just wondering...at first when I heard Rand say it I thought maybe it was a derogatory statement from the AoL that male channelers said to female. Now I'm thinking maybe it was what full Aes Sedai said to apprentices? Just wondering. 2. Moghedien tells Liandrin and co. that Nynaeve, Elayne, etc. w…

I want to see everyones' theories on the nature of the Creator and Dark One. It does not matter if your theories have been debunked already or not, I would still like to see them. It's already been explained that the Dark One is the antithesis of the Creator. They are equal and opposit in every way. The theory that I had for a long time was that the Dark One and Creator are actually the offspring of the True Source (Or that they are actually two halves of the same being and make up the True Source as a whole). This would explain why they are both able to draw onto it. (I am assuming that the power the creator used to create the universe comes from the True So…

And what about the "murderer now sat openly on the Seanchan throne." Do all Seanchan rulers have to be descended from Hawkwing? Is that murderer Demandred? Is he also black? Will it be his "hand like onyx", "black hand" grasping the hilt of Callandor. Does anyone have any idea? Is Berelain also descended from Hawkwing? Is she black? Caveatar

My friend, with whom I have had many debates over WOT, and I, were discussing the voice of LTT today. He still beleives that it is literally the voice of LTT speaking to Rand. However, I recall reading that Rand realizes the voice is not really him at the end of TGS. I assume that it was a type of split personality. Rand could not deal with the fact that he was LTT, so his mind created the voice, which was perceived, by Rand, as being seperate from himself, and gave Rand access to LTT's memories without the need for him to actually acknowledge, consciously, or subconsciously that they were his own.

The Eye of the World: I've always been kind of drawn to the fantasy genre, but I've had some disappointing experiences with certain books I've tried in the past that have been less than stellar and rather cliche (*cough*Sword of Shannara*cough*). Nevertheless, I was looking for something to read, and I saw TEOTW on my brother's shelf. I'd seen this book and others from the series in the library and in bookstores throughout my life, but had never really given it much more than a glance. I decided to give it a go, and boy, was it one of the best decisions I've made in my life. As I read, I found myself going, "This is pretty good. Wow. There's some really cool stuff in here…

We know it was around in the AoL, the Trolloc Wars and the time of Hawkwing, which would bring it up to about 1,000 pre-series. Is there a known date when it stopped, or did it just fade? If it did just fade, why?

So Rand will fight someone, thats a given. But will the bulk of the fight be between Rand and Moridin, on a human to human level, or will Rand pump up the jam and do the boss fight in style against the DO himself? My prediction is a Moridin v Rand deathmatch at Shayol Ghul, which nearly kills him, only for Moridin to be disposed of with some help from ...someone. Possibly one of the two that assist with Calandor. After Moridin is dealt with, Rand will do something with the power to seal off the DO, without much direct conflict, if any at all. Fain will then come in and kill him at his weakest, and after that I can't predict anything. What are your thoughts on …

Dear Forum, I am new and searched the forum best I could for a similar thread, but here goes: I, like many of you, got the new orbit release of the 1st book. I tried to google for the release schedule for the next in the series. Does anyone know? By now it almost seems as if they only had the first book in mind for this edition? Thanks

For what it's worth, here's my take on the book covers "issue." I can understand why some fans don't like the DKS covers. If you're looking for literal illustration, they are certainly not going to provide that. When I picture the characters, they look nothing like the DKS versions, except for Moiraine, I think he got her face perfect. The eBook covers are perfectly fine. I can see why people like them. They are professional, modern in style, and apparently follow the texts closely. I like some of them a lot - I think "New Spring" is my favorite. However, I'm more a fan of Sweet's WOT covers. Firstly, there's nostalgia: some of my earliest memories of books ar…

Since the white powder/Liquid Light that Nynaeve found in Rand's brain separates/shields/insulates the darkness/taint from his brain it might be used to keep the One Power weaves from touching the D.O. when sealing the Bore. I had a long line of reasoning on how it would be done but it is too long so I will just post the idea. (Or possibly Rand's blood is now saturated with the same stuff and that is how "his blood on the rocks of Shayol Ghul" saves the world.)

Nyn balefires the crap outta them after they kill the Aiel, I thought they would come back, seeing as Matt and co. did so after Rand Balefires the forsaken and he comes back to life... Maybe I'm missing something but I cant see it... thanks, Wayne

Hey all, I have am currently rereading TDR, and just got past the part where Egwene takes her test to be raised to Accepted. During the test several odd things happen, including her learning about the 13x13 way to convert someone to the shadow, and Balefire. Neither of these she could have had any knowledge about before entering. I have seen these discussed in depth in other posts before AMoL. The part I found interesting is in the third stage of her test, when she is Amrilyn Seat. During this section she thinks of several things and she is not able to remember when/how they happened. One oddity was she looks into the Mirror and sees the agelessness of he…

The last on screen appearance of Demandred was an appearance with Grendal, Mesanna, and Moridin where Demandred stated that his rule is secure and he is gathering for war. I am going to ignore the first part of this, and focus on the second. First some background: Elayne has assured her rule of Camelyn, and at the Beginning of TOM, Mat was confused (by Norry) with all the other Mercenary bands. There are lots and lots of Mercenary Bands surrounding Camelyn. Later on, when the letter is presented to Elayne, there is mention that all of the Mercenary groups were allowed to be at closest 1 league away from the walls of Camelyn - An hour walk or so from Camelyn - n…

Verin's letter warns of a huge number of shadowspawn using the Ways to get to Caemlyn. How are they doing it without getting caught by Machin Shin? Verin told Perrin in SR that Isam/Luc could only bring Trollocs to Two Rivers in small groups since a large group of them would attract Machin Shin in minutes. Is this restriction gone for some reason? There was a huge army of Trollocs that attacked Rand and co in KoD but I believe that one was brought there by Fain who has an understanding with Machin Shin. Is he the one in charge of the Caemlyn invasion? Doesn't seem likely to me. Any other ideas?

This is something that I asked the Blue Ajah, but I thought I'd open it up to everyone. What exactty are pillowfriends? I know in the Tower Novice Quarters there are little holes in the wall near the bed-head for you to talk to a friend through, but is there a more intimate connotation? In "New Spring" there are a few hints that Moiraine and Siuan are closer than friends, and I think it's "Knife of Dreams" or thereabouts where Elaida and a Grey sister who dresses revealingly consider "being pillowfriends again" or something. What do you think?

I've looked to see if this has been covered, but couldn't find anything, so apologies if I've missed it. Just thinking that we don't really know a huge amount about the Stedding, and I have a few questions that maybe you guys can answer: 1) Do we know why/how Stedding came to exist? Are they a natural occurance or created somehow? 2) If they were creatable, could this potentially be a way to seal the Dark One away forever? The Power (inc the True Power) doesn't work in a Stedding, and shadowspawn react badly to them. Could a stedding be created around the new prison (if TDO isn't actually 'killed') to prevent any channeller from ever breaking him free again? …

Hey guys, I am working on a number of things, and one thing I was going to do was compile a list of internal timeline contradictions in TGS/TOM, something that I think the Team is largely unaware of. I haven't looked into this since just after TOM came out when we were struggling to make our own timeline (since Steven Cooper had given up), and I was wondering if any of you guys had taken notes on it already. It would save me a lot of work. If not, I'll do the work myself. For the record, I'm looking for stuff that is not dependent on Steve's timeline—in other words, just 'internal' contradictions. Thanks in advance.

OK since I can not seem to get a rise out of you people. Here is anther question worth pondering. We all know that time is supposed to be circular in this series. Right but here is someone with ring of tamurilin the first object made with power. Ok, I get it but what about the first age or first turning of wheel when pattern did not exist there was a beginnng what happened then was going to set the pattern for all times to come. Does it mean everything has to be blamed on those first seven ages.

Wow, did I really name this topic something that pretentious? Anyway, I'm obviously pretty new here. This is my first substantive post, so if I noob-it-up, don't hate :) I've been thinking a lot about how it will all end (haven't we all?). Usually this takes the forum of asking 1) How will Rand seal the DO away, and 2) What will happen to character _________? Threads about the the later question trend towards lists of who will confront who. My interpretation, like lots of other people, is that this sort of thing has been foreshadowed heavily. To some degree, I'm on board with this plan. I'd love to see Rand v. Moridin, Taim v. Logan, etc. That said, I wa…

This is the first topic I have started, so bear with me. Also, I have been lurking a long time, and have seen similar topics but none that touches on the same idea as far as I know. If this has been mentioned, please forgive me. First, we have seen Fain change through out this story for various reasons including the Dark One's touch, the Ruby Dagger, and possibly Mashadar or the Black Winds or whatever it is called. He has become more and more corrupt and evil. He has also manifested many new abilities gained from his contact with these things. Also, during all of this, his hatred for Rand has grown stronger and stronger. Fain is becoming very similar to the Dark One …

...I know lots of people will be doing a full re-read before reading AMOL next year. When is everyone planning on starting theirs? Personally, when the release date is revealed, that's when I'll be deciding. Each book takes about a week to read for me, so 13 weeks before the release date should be about right. *bounces in excitement*

Towers of Midnight, Ch. 35, where it switches to perrin's point of view, he wakes up in the wolf dream in a field and smells all sorts of things that didn't belong. Hopper said the dream world is starting to break. what could this possibly mean and are there any possibilities we're going to see this expanded upon?

One thing that I've not noticed discussed is Shayol Ghul itself. I bring this up because I have two observations about the place where the Last Battle is supposed to be fought. First, we have every Forsaken POV who has traveled there stating that it is dangerous to hold onto the One Power at Shayol Ghul. I get some mixed feelings from the Forsaken that it might be due to the Dark One's presence, but it's the other connotations of the danger that I am interested in, of it simply not being safe. I bring this up because we also have the view of the Forgers using tongs to dip their blades they forge into the "inky black rivulet" that runs past their forge, where the touch…
