I had thought that I knew the WoT really well....until I joined this site. My mind is melted from trying to remember the information that you guys all talk about on these forums. Its incredible and quite pleasing that there are fans such as you guys out there. So, Im just wondering and think it would be interesting to see who has read the entire series all the way through the most number of times? I myself have read the series twice (sad I know)and have also read New Spring twice. So, who has read the series the most?

I was just in some random business meeting and the guy who was leading it said at one point when we were discussing a problem that would be very difficult/costly to solve, and really should just be ignored... "Well, you know duty is heavier than a mountain, death lighter than a feather." ...I nearly fell out of my chair.

  4. So, I'm thinking about writing a story which will never be seen by the eyes of man, but none the less still writing it since the idea won't go away. A sort of 'what if' Rand had been born a girl. I wanted to get peoples opinions on a name for the character. I can never seem to settle, and I figure maybe if I get some other fans views it will help me decide so I can actually start writing. There will be a poll, but please, please, feel free to suggest names not listed. I've made it so you can choose more than one answer in case you are undecided like me. However I do request that you give a short blurb about why you like a name, or any particular names. If y…

  6. Does anyone have any or know how to get any information about why the ToM ebook still has the DKS cover art attached to it? I would have asked in the B&N forum but they go largely unanswered by the people that would have any info; and since everyone at DM tends to be much more helpful and/or responsive I thought I would post here first incase anyone was aware of anything. Plus I couldn't find a post where anyone else was asking. It's merely a curiosity. Thanx in advance.

Did anyone else read this, from the Karatheon Cycle, and think of Aslan and the Stone Table? "Twice dawns the day when his blood is shed. Once for mourning, once for birth. Red on black, the Dragon's blood stains the rock of Shayol Ghul. In the Pit of Doom shall his blood free men from the Shadow." I'm sure it's already been bandied about, but I'm a newbie so please forgive me if I am going over old ground. Have been a WOT follower since '97 but never bothered to check out the online community 'til now, for some reason. Am fascinated with everyone's theories - especially disappointed to see my Taimandred theory shot to smithereens, lol.

I have always been as stickler for who deserves what. I understand that to be a "blademaster" you have to either kill another blademaster in a fair sword to sword fight, or have a pannel of blademasters deem you worthy. However, I had a thought cross my mind while reading about Lan training Rand in Shienar in TGH. Lets say you are training to be a warder. You have not quite reached blademaster status. However, if an Aes Sedai bonds you and you suddenly increase in strength, speed, endurance, and all that other good stuff, and you suddenly are good enough to become a blademaster, are you considered a blademaster? I mean, you didn't earn the right to be a blademaster …

I was rereading and I was up to where egwene and nynaeve speak in TAR in the white tower and egwene has a go and almost gets nynaeve to drink something horrible cause she always lies to make herself look better. I thought does the oath against lying stop you if you say something you believe on the outside but subconsciously not believe in. such as nynaeve saying she never says things to make herself look better. Now I know she want bound back then but if she was, how would it work?

There's lots of topics out there wanting to say Demandred is Taim, or we've not seen him yet...I think we've seen him, and not only have we seen him, he's one of the good guys we like right under our nose. I've not seen anyone else put together the fact that Demandred's physical description is identical word for word in the description of Charlz Guybon's "smiling face that hasn't smiled recently" as the last description in the big meeting of the forsaken just prior (Crossroads of Twilight iirc.) when he arrives in CH. 13 of Knife of Dreams. We're all like...Yeah! and get caught up in that moment of 10,000 troops pouring in to help Elayne, putting 2+2 together with…

Ok, so over the past few days I have been reading up on everyone's theories about Taim Who Is No Longer Taimandred. I want to know who he is, but it looks like no one is sure of even being close (although someone probably is without knowing it) so, the next big question - who is his teacher then??? I so badly want to get to the bottom of this. I think Osan'gar aka Dashiva must've shown Taim some new moves before Rand plucked him out of the BT after Dumai's Well, surely? And this is probably why Mr. I'm The King of The World Not Rand wanted Rand to choose another asha'man, so that he could hang on to his little twitchy trove of knowledge. But someone had to hav…

Something I don't think I've ever seen discussed - it obviously made sense for one of the Forsaken to place themselves among the Seanchan, and the Seanchan have certainly been at best a major distraction, at worst a major, unwitting aid to the Shadow by weakening the Light-side forces. However - given that the Seanchan were already landing at Falme around the time, or even before, Semirhage's release, then clearly that was all going to happen anyway long before she turned up. Although Semi claimed to have Tuon under her thumb, I'm struggling to think of anything Tuon has done that she wouldn't have done anyway. Bearing in mind that Tuon herself, and Semi, didn't arriv…

Do you guys think Rand will break the world again? Now this could mean a number of things. People could say he already has with what he has done through the series but what I mean is, will he do anything similar to what Lews Therin did? Yes, he is not affected by the taint anymore but there is the issue of his link with Moridin and everything else that's going on with the LB. What will the outcome be? Discuss

I'm the middle of my first reread of tSR since reading Towers of Midnight, and I've just come to the Dain Bornhald pov which reveals that the slaughter of Perrin's family was Fain's work. It's always irked me that it seemed like the series would with Perrin never discovering who was really behind behind the attack on the Aybara farm. It just dawned on me, however, that the stage is finally set for Perrin to learn the truth. Bornhald, the only other named character in the series other than Fain who for sure knows about the murder of Perrin's family, is now part of Perrin's inner circle after the events of ToM. I'm going on record that this absolutely must lead to Dain tell…

Hey everyone, I just started the Wheel of Time series a little while ago, and I just finished Crossroads of Twilight. I know Robert Jordan wrote New Spring before he finished Knife of Dreams, but I was wondering if I'd be missing out anything crucial if I skipped New Spring for now, and started reading Knife of Dreams. Thanks for all your help!

So i was thinking the chapter involving Moraine's resuce, just wasnt fleshed out enough in detail. I personally think that part of the story shouldve been much longer. If its not going to be an out-rigger after the series, is over, I think Brandon Sanderson should re-write the chapter and include it in future editions of the book. I know this opens up debate to other chapters, however i think THIS part of the story deserves more in the main context of the book. Thoughts and/or opinions, anyone?

So in TGH, when Siuan and Moiraine reveal to Rand that he's the Dragon Reborn, Rand lists the names of the false Dragons that Ba'alzamon told him about in his dreams. Siuan demands to know where he heard those names, and Moiraine tells him he got them from Thom, who is dead. Now, there's two things about this that seem almost violations of the First Oath. One, Ba'alzamon told him the names, not Thom. This can be explained away as an Aes Sedai answer, though, since Rand didn't know what the names meant, it was Thom who told him they were false Dragons. We know that Moiraine was keeping the return of the Forsaken from Siuan, so it would make sense for her to imply t…

When Mat's eye is "surgically removed" they refer him becoming the center of all (or something to that effect, I do not have a book on me to quote directly). I haven't seen a topic addressing this and it seems important. Anybody got any ideas?

Is Mordeth human? And by that I mean, even when he was alive during the Trolloc Wars. It was him who brought the evil to Shadar Logoth, and I've had a feeling for a long time that Fain is going to be integral to the ending of the series. There's been enough instances of the SL evil and the DO's evil counteracting each other. My question here is...what IS the Shadar Logoth evil? Where did it come from? Aginor refers to the evil from Mat's dagger as "An old thing, an old friend, an old enemy." So obviously it's something he's familiar with. Was this power evident during the Age of Legends? We've seen no mention of it as far as I know besides that cryptic line from …

So I recently just complete CoS but I have one question. You know how Rand remembers the name and face of every maiden of the spear (every woman for that matter)who dies fighting for him? If he kills Liah with balefire he essentially rips her from the pattern as if she doesn't exist (according to my understanding of Balefire please correct me if I'm wrong) He tears the very fabric of the pattern and erases all memory of her. Yes he does this in mercy of course, better then Mashadar for sure. So anyway my question is how can remember Liah if he rips/erases her from the pattern?

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere. I'm new here and haven't really figured out where or how to search for information. Anyhow, one thing that has been bugging me when reading the series for the first time are all the angreals that Moraine ships to Carhien in Kadere's wagons. What do actually happen to them? If I haven't overlooked some passage of the books, the last time they are mentioned is when Moraine and Laenfir fight it out in the harbour of Carhien. Is it implied that they were shipped off to Tar Valon after that?

If the Dragon were born in today's world, what would be his role? What would be his vocation? His education? What country is he from? Ethnicity? His religion? Will there be channeling? (and ignore the Christian, and Islamic prophecy for a minute :) ) How about a subsequent birth in the future of the Dragon Reborn? (We need some sort of War of Power today but let's assume he is reborn within 100 years.) Or, perhaps there was a War of Power 3k years in the past and we just don't remember thus there can be a "Dragon Reborn". But with the Dragon Reborn, we need some sort of enemy. In our world, it doesn't necessarily have to be the Dark One/Satan/etc. In Wo…

as we know, the titles of the 14 WoT books are both metaphorical and/or literal of what is going on. In your opinions, what do each of the titles refer to? 1. Eye of the World- just as it says, it's the place up in the Blight which holds the untainted Saidin 2. The Great Hunt- The Illian Hunt for the Horn of Valere/ Rand and companies search for Fain. 3. The Dragon Reborn- The revealing of The Dragon to the world. 4. The Shadow Rising- not 100% sure 5. The Fires of Heaven- Metaphorical meaning of the wars I'm sure 6. Lord of Chaos- Rand 7. A Crown of Swords- The crown of Illian 8. Path of Daggers- regards the Seanchan if I remember correct…

Rand has three lovers and my question for all of you is if you had to pick just one of them for him to end up with who would you pick. I know he'll most likely end up marrying all three its just a theoretical question. So Min, Aviendha, or Elayne. And let us know why.

  28. How will Rand react when Perrin updates him? Perrin's private deal with the Seanchan might not sit well with Rand, especially when he realizes the connection to the current Aiel antagonism / undercurrents. The Wise Ones and Aiel with Perrin saw the Shaido deprivations first hand and more or less unofficially designated the Shaido and their Wise Ones as Da'tsang. Most of the Aiel with Rand are hearing 2nd hand reports of Wise One captivity which is generating resentment that will lead to Feud status if Avi's Rhuidean "way forward ter'angreal" vision is correct. Also Perrin didn't accomplish his primary mission: bringing Masema and his followers to Rand. Somehow I d…

I am worried that this will happen if they are going to seal the Bore again, and wondered how that can be avoided. The only idea I got was the use of a Well. A Well isn’t (or needn’t be) connected with the True Source, as is shown by Cadsuane and Nynaeve in Far Madding. Nevertheless I doubt that those two ter’angreal are big enough to seal the bore. In the Eye of the World they found a cave that was filled with clean saidin. The saidin couldn’t have been clean if it was connected with the True Source, so IMO that cave must be a Well too. We also know that the Eye of the World was saved by Loial’s Singing. Now I wonder: 1. Will the Eye of the World be used to reseal…
