On every Wheel ot Time boards you can say abominable things about Jordan and his books, but you try to say even a mild criticism about Sanderson, your comment gets deleted, or downvoted, or you get banned, which I find ridiculous. Jordan created WOT, and his books and writings vastly superior to anything written by Sanderson, but yet according these forums Jordan was a pathetic loser, who wrote bad and boring books, and basically only Sanderson's books are worth to read. I'd really like to get an explanation for this inexplicable phenomena.

As someone who loves both the Wheel of time series and the Dune series I have always wondered if RJ ever stated if Dune influenced him at all, or if he and Frank Herbert had the same root influences. There are lots of things that are similar but the one that stands out to me are the Freman and the Aiel. Both are a dessert people, and both are considered the greatest warriors of there universes. Both have links to weapons, and a large culture around the use of water. Both also practive Polygamy and a form of indenture (Paul kills a man and then takes over his wife and children given the ability to claim the wife either for his bed, or as a slave). Both also ha…

Hello, I heard there is a Wheel of Time Book set that is either leather bound and/or has a dragon mural across when you set them together. I would like to find this for my family. Can anyone point me in the direction to find this? Thank you in advance!

The history of the Lord of the Rings was released by Christopher Tolkien and consisted of his fathers notes in relation to the chapters of the books, along with essays explaining the writing process and the decisions he made. Given that we know Robert Jordan kept details notes and Harriet was heavily involved in the editing process has it ever been hinted at that this may be published at some point in the future? I would love to see how the series travelled from inception to completion, the story threads that where decided on before book 1 started and the ones that evolved and developed as time went on.

PLEASE TRY TO AVOYD SPOILERS FOR BEYOND EOTW AND TGH Ok, so I finished the second book and just subscribed the this website sonI can ask the two major doubts that nag me since the beginning: DOUBT #1: ON REINCARNATION Ok, so people reincarnates in this universe, I understand, but is that everyone or just the relevant people? Because when Mat blows the horn, all this dead heroes show up and address Rand as Lews Therin, but shouldn’t Lews Therin himself show up also as a ghost? And also, haven’t the dead heroes also reincarnated? Shouldn’t some of their reincarnations also show up for the battle? DOUBT NUMERO 2: YOUR DAILY DO…

I'm wondering if anyone has any theories on why all the people in Illian and Tear in "The Dragon Reborn" all look so hopeless and downtrodden? Obviously we know they are all having similar dreams (as well as in Andor as noted by Basel Gill) so the forsaken (Rahvin, Sammael, and Be'lal) must be projecting from TAR into the dreams of the respective peoples of each land but do we ever get an explanation of what is going on there? Loial notes that something is wrong in Tear and Perrin and Failed note something similar earlier when they are traveling through Illian.

Hi everyone, I'm about halfway through the series and loving it. But I tried recommending the books to one of my friends and they couldn't get through the first book (for good reason!). I realized that the first book has much more elevated diction than the following novels in the series. Does anyone know why or have any ideas? Did it have something to do with editors or publishers?

Help me here guys if you can, I've searched the forums with no luck so far. Where in the books is it explicitly stated that the female/female warder bond between Birgitte and Elayne is having unique side effects from the traditional female/male bonds. I found some quotes about how their emotions mirror each other, but I can't seem to find a quote stating that it's doing it in a different way than warders normally work. I remember it was a thing, but I can't find the sources and citations in book and chapter with quotes, and it's driving me crazy. I'm having a discussion with another book reader who is super convinced I made that up an…

I am sooooo excited that they are making a new audiobook for this series. Even more so that Rosamund Pike will be doing the voice. I don’t know if anyone on here has herd any of the old audiobooks for this but at least in my opinion they are really bad .

Are you trying to convince that friend to watch the TV show? Or maybe to read the books, or both? Show them this video, it serves as a first approach to the series, introducing the world to new readers, as well as a spoiler safe review/summary of New Spring, the prequel novel to the main series.

Hello all. This is my first time posting here (I discovered the community but have tried to avoid it as I'm still reading through the series. I'm on book 8 and I started in May). I found a fairly unique Wheel of Time box set at a resale shop today. It's sets of 3 hardcover books with the original dust jackets. Nothing special there. However, around the set is a case with some unique artwork and coloring. For the life of me, I cannot figure out who the distributor is. I have found sets 2, 3, and 4 for $20 each, normally at $80 per the box. Has anyone seen these? Can anyone help identify them? I've cross posted on Reddit to no luck either. I did upload more pictures th…

I am currently re-reading The Eye of the World for the first time in 30 years. Before the well remembered prologue with Lews Therin, there is a chapter with Egwene's POV from when she was 9yo. I don't remember this at all and I don't see it listed here on the site or on WOT. When was this added to the book? Or is my memory that bad?

The Wheel of Time will announce the Apocalypse. (Watch out if you're sensitive and emotional!!!!) The Tibetan Wheel Of Time ("Kalachakra") says in Wikipedia: Shambhala kingdom and its holy war with the barbarians[edit] The 25 kings of Shambhala The Kālacakratantra contains passages that refer to a Buddhist kingdom called "Shambhala", which is ruled by a line of Buddhist kings that preserve the Kālacakra teachings. This kingdom is said to be located near mount Kailasa and its capital is Kalāpa. It also mentions how this kingdom comes into conflict with invaders called mleccha (barbarians), which most scholars ag…

The books ARE more about balance than good versus evil. The ancient symbol of the Aes Sedai is a Ying-Yang symbol. The books show how only cooperation is the key to fighting the last Battle. When one side is out of Balance we get the decline of civilization as seen during the 3rd age. During the last battle Rand was shown what would happen if he "defeated" the dark one and it was terrifying. The only thing he could do was seal him away again. The Pattern itself is described as neither Good nor Evil but strives for a Balance, hence why Ta'varen are spun out. The pull the pattern back into balance.

I am sticking to information and it based on the tWoTC. I want to point out the last thread writer commented on what I wrote below. However, the official standings are as I wrote below and I corrected a few errors I made. We need to stop mentioning the dead chosen and the captured damane Moggy. When Aliva becomes Aes Sedai she will be the top women in power in herself at 1(+12). Then Sharina Melloy potential is 2(+11) has the same potential as Talaan who is already 4(9+) with her reaching the level of 2(+11). Nyneave is currently 4(+9) with her potential going to 3(+10). Remember Siuan and Leane explained to Nyneave and Elayne how the hierarchy also is measured. Furt…

Hey All. Just finished re-(re)reading Lord of Chaos and absolutely loved it. I definitely feel like this book does a great job of further developing the world and a lot of the characters in it. Here's my question for y'all: Is it possible Moraine made her oath to Rand (in The Shadow Rising The Fires of Heaven) so that Rand would think to bind the Aes Sedai at Dumai's Wells with a similar kind of oath? Perhaps she foresaw this happening during her trip through Rhuidean? That last line by Rand (or maybe Taim, who knows!): "Kneel and swear to the Lord Dragon," he said softly, "or you will be knelt." SO GOOD. Also, apologies in advance if this has alre…

Well it's been a long time coming. I've considered making a reaction chat here for a while, so that I can stop clogging up the "What are you reading" board, and I've finally gotten around to it. As of the creation of this board, I'm on Chapter 33 of The Shadow Rising. I hope that this type of format is fine. Also if there are questions on my opinions to things, feel free to ask Now then for a quick theory to start things off: I think that Lord Luc could possibly be the Slayer. He seems to recognize Perrin, he's a dude hanging out in Two Rivers, and he is confident enough to not be worried about a Warder.

Let’s Talk About The Tylin Thing **SPOILERS for A Crown Of Swords ahead** Ahh, The Tylin Thing. I finished my reread of A Crown of Swords (book seven in The Wheel of Time) a few weeks ago, and, try as I might, I just can’t seem to pick up Book 8. Something keeps bothering me about Book 7 — and has been bothering me since I first read the series two years ago: Mat’s rape by Tylin Quintara, Queen of Ebou Dar. It’s a controversial topic: half the fandom seems to view The Tylin Thing as I do (i.e., rape), while the other half view it as a humorous break from the more “serious” parts of the book (i.e., as a romcom interlude to the “main” st…

With the inevitable success of Amazon’s Wheel of Time TV series, next year I fully expect costume stores to be overflowing with Myrddraal masks, but this Halloween I attempted a little DIY. A mask would certainly be easier than a bald cap and safer than covering up your eyes with cotton pads, but hopefully it makes for an entertaining video if nothing else.

Hey so I am always trying to figure out or remember what everyone looks like and what certain groups of people look like so I was wondering if there was already somewhere that I could find a write up of something like that or if someone would want to make one on here. For instance Characters: Rand-Tall, dark, and handsome. Bela-Tall, dark, and...handsome? Etc. Races: Borderlands-Asian? Andor-White/Scandinavian Etc. Mostly just the main characters would be nice, including the forsaken (those are the ones I get confused on the most). Anyway if anyone wanted to try making something like that up I would appreciate it. Thanks

Perrin seems to ahve developed different skills of a wolfbrother over time. In the beginning he recieved the golden eyes, the increased senses, and the ability to talk with wolves but in book 6 he is able to smell emotions. There were hints of him being able to to this a little bit prior to book 6 but not much. Is he developing other skills? He also seems to be very handy with that axe but I could attribute some of that to training (however casually) with Lan, and just generally ahving to use it for the last couple years. Also Mat. He defeated Galad with a shortstaff...luck? Or is he really that good? This is before he got all those memories. He is also (as of book 1…

I am super confused about how the two are related. I am reading the 5th book (the fires of heaven). It was mentioned in the prologue that galad is morgaise’s step son. I am confused as to who Galad’s parents are and who gawyn and ellaine’s father is. Hoping someone could give a spoiler free explanation or whether it will be mentioned later on in the books. Also I was confused why gareth bryne said that he was surprised to see an aiel use a sword. Is this something that I missed that aiel don’t use swords but only use other weapons. Or does it have something to do with the original aiel who followed the way of the leaf. Also how did nynaeve defeat moghedien in the shadow r…

Here are the facts: 1. we know the "prophecies of the Dragon" on Randland side says that "he will bind the nine moons to him" and the prophecies on the Seanchan side says the Dragon Reborn must kneel before the Crystal Throne. 2. Tuon is now the empress 3. Rand has asked to meet with her and arrange a truce 4. Tuon's "Truthspeaker" turns out to really be a Forsaken in disguise. 5. Tuon married Mat. Question: How will Rand bind the "Nine Moons" to him?? I believe that when he finally gets to meet with Tuon, he will bring Semirhage along to show Tuon that she had a Forsaken in her ruling council (whether she was aware of this or not). Tuon's eyes will be lower…

Silvie must have been Moghedien. I can't see Lanfear acting in that manner, earlier in The Dragon Reborn she seemed incapable of it. Does anyone think this means anything? Was it that Ishamael could command them all back then?

Somewhere on this board I read that Lord Luc was in Emonds Field due to him being hired to kill Paidan Fain. While I was reading, I couldn't find a reason for Luc to be in the Two Rivers. If anyone knows please say so. Thanks.
