Hi, During several Rand/Mat Taveren visions, Rand saw a small dark woman with Matt. The Seanchan accompanying Sermihage found her power-woven disguise believable. Why didn't Rand realise Matt was with either the real Daughter of the Nine Moons or another imposter, at some point after seeing Sermihage's impersonation? ???

So here's a question. What's with the practice of building an army and then abandoning it at the time it needs it's leader most? Matt builds the Band of the Red Hand then abandons it for the Seanchan army. Perrin builds his army incorporates the Whitecloaks, then abandons them to go haring off in the world of dreams. Even Galad and Lan abandon their men to go fight Demandred. This left Elayne and Egwene to continue the fight on the field. Good leadership is hard to find, especially after compulsion took out the great captains.

Hi, I am new to the forums. I am re-reading the series and am on The Dragon Reborn. I was reading Perrins chapters and his interactions with Lanfear and wondered if there has been any discussion of their relationship in the series . I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on them. Thanks!

Just finished my second reading of Wheel of Time (first time was a decade ago) and am now needing recommendations for similar books series with powerful, female magical societies like Aes Sedai. Thank you!

I recently decided to make a list ordering my least favorite WoT book to my favorite, and I posted this on my website. I wanted to see where everyone else decided to rank the Wheel of Time books. If you don't want to rank all of them, then you can put down your favorite and least favorite book from the series. Here is the short version of my ranking 14. Crossroads of Twilight 13. The Path of Daggers 12. Towers of Midnight 11. A Crown of Swords 10. A Knife of Dreams 9. Winter's Heart 8. The Dragon Reborn 7. The Gathering Storm 6. Lord of Chaos 5. The Eye of the World 4. The Great Hunt 3. A Memory of Light 2. The Shadow Rising 1. The Fires of Heave…

Note: I tried searching for this in the quote database at Theoryland but didn't find anything besides the Fain/Mordeth link stuff that permeates the threads in these forums as well. A search through this forum for this didn't give me what I was looking for either although admittedly I didn't look further than 2 pages of search result threads back, way too much for me to look through it all. Lastly, the reason I posted this here and not in the Simple Questions thread is because the question/answer may or may not be simple depending on if I'm a blind fool or if this truly is an unsolved mystery. Something I noticed on my curent reread: I've bolded the text wher…

There is this new book series i am reading that is driving me nuts!! it is a very good story called the seeker or the sword of truth but it is a complete and total rip off from the WoT. # 1 the main character finds out his father is not his father, there are no men that can use magic alive anymore, the main female magic character is called the mother confessor, his sword is magic and can cut through anything, anger is what gives him his power, the evil is called the nammless one, the sisters of the light live for a very very long time, there castle is on an island, they hold male magic useers prisoner, they use collars to control them, there are a group of people called t…

There is really no facts that will support this, I was just curious of your opinion. I am reading the Fires of Heaven and have got to the part where Nynaeve and Egwene are in the dream world in the tower and how Egwene basically rips Nynaeve up one side and down the other. I wonder how she got to be Wisdom in the Two Rivers in the first place. She is a whiny brat that has to always have her own way whether its right or wrong. She bullies people instead of talking calmly and getting her point across without offending. So my question. Was Nynaeve the Wisdom because of her (unknowingly) healing with the power? Was there no one else that could do it? …

//Spoilers for both series// Hello, WOT fans. I made it through ToM about a month ago, and read the Sword of Truth (SOT) series a couple years ago (including a re-read). I have found many cool similarities; although, the two series are very different. This post has nothing to do with accusing either author of copying. It is merely to point out some observations. Of course I inderstand that many similarities are due to common themes in fantasy/fiction literature. The following are similarities of both series: The series begins with a young man, living a relatively peaceful life until a (magical) visitor comes to town. The man and some friends end up leavi…

Nine years ago on 4/27/2011 a ripple was set off that brought together the twin Dragon and the Angel also known as the Red hand and Fortuona. Fates are aligning across the planet. The hunt for the horn has started. The fake prophet is time is ending. Stand together in the light. The magic of the world is growing stronger. Men and women need to work together. Its Critical we Role together in harmony to push back the Dark.

Hi, again. A small question on Towers of Midnight. I'm on chapter 34 of Towers of Midnight, on a Faile POV. She is talking to Perrin. Then, out of nowhere, no pause, no sign on the structure of the text whatsoever, the POV switches to Perrin. It threw me off at the moment. A few paragraphs later, we look through Faile's eyes again. Like before, no sign, no pause. Am I reading this wrong?

How does Aviendha know what carbon is? Let alone that this is the element (a gas at room temperature) that strengthens Steel. Is this a slip by Jordan/Sanderson? Was this knowledge gained by the rings? Or is this a glimpse into the SciFi facets of WOT? I just finished relistening to the audio books trying to note any times I heard another element mentioned and could not find any. Thoughts?

Every now and then I wonder, what is the fate of the Shaido Aiel clan? They've disgraced themselves to the extent that they are almost-but-not-quite outcast from the community of Aiel clans, they've gone a long, long way down the road that terrifies Aviendha when she is shown it through the Rhuidean ter'angreal - ji-e-toh without any obligation and certainly no honour, they've tried and failed at the game of conquest and are now off to the Threefold Land to lick their wounds (and presumably to prey on the remainder of the Aiel who have stayed there to look after their clan holdings and territories), and they have danced no part in the Last Ballet/Battle. Did R…

I'm going through A Knife of Dreams, and recently passed a Faile chapter, where she witness a conversation between Therava and Sevanna. Therava said something that confused me. "Couladin is the Car'a'carn. Rand al'Thor is a creation of Aes Sedai." and it sounded she believes that. I mean, she is a true Wise One. She knows all the prophecies, born from the blood, raised elsewhere and all of that. Was she lying her ass to Sevanna, or did she actually believe that? Because it makes no sense to me.

I've been re-re-re-re reading (well listening to) the series, and this is something I've been mulling over for some time. Verin was wrong. Or at least.. there is something off about the world. We're told the world endlessly loops and the same events happen over and over. Except that there is a single thing that does permanently change. She said to Eqwene there are 3 constants, the Dark One, the Creator, and TAR. But I think there is a 4th, and its one that, as far as we know, not actually constant. The Horn of Valere. Granted, there is much information that the horn can be destroyed and reforged in a new form or the same, but what it means is more…

just a minor curiosity in KoD 22, when there is the seafolk assembly, they are holding it atop one of the great seanchan ships stolen during the escape from ebou dar. it is described as very big and with balconies. there are also regular chairs, not the usual stuff attached to the ship. those things point to a luxury cruise ship designed for a noble patron. and maybe there are more similarities in the descriptions that i missed. is there any confirmation that the ship is indeed the victory of kidron that tuon used in WH 14?

the last we see of sevanna, she had been captured by the seanchan and about to be made da'covale. indeed, the seanchan seem to consider that a punishment worse than death for the (formerly) powerful. this got me thinking. sevanna is young and pretty, so she will likely be made a shea dancer or something like that. pretty da'covale are bought by the blood to be used as eye candy, but sometimes the blood marries them. and sevanna based her whole modus operandi on marrying powerful men and exploiting their power. So, how likely would you rate that, within a few years, she'd be back in a position of power and making troubles again?

Why did the female Choden Kal access key melt, and not the male? Both were used. Only one melted. ??? Also, we have evidence that there are at least 2 female access keys. Egwene finds a broken one in TAR. So are there any other male keys? I think it is possible. Imagine if Rand uses the male choden kal at TG and only feels half its power in him. He turns and sees Moridin waving at him, holding another key!

Great idea from another post. The top 100 most used words or phrases from WoT. And BTW, I'm not bashing Robert Jordan - every writer is guilty of over using certain words or phrases but few have been prolific enough to be noticed. After 11 books, a couple of million words, yeah, we start to notice. Here's my contributions: "Fists on hips" sensed "through the bond" "smoothed her skirts" mirrored stand lamps sea folk porcelain

Before I go into detail explaining how Mat's personality has changed (for the worse) due to Mr. Sanderson's perspective of the character... Does anyone else agree with me? If nobody else cares, I won't go into details.

I just reached Mat's letter to Elayne in ToM. Ugh. Well, I guess Mat's an illiterate buffoon now. He must've taken one or two blows too many to the head recently. Also, I wonder if he's a married man now. Do you think he's a married man now? He's probably a married man now. Out of all the differences between RJ and BS, Mat's the most disappointing. The rest he's doing passable with, but poor, poor Mat.

This is a intriguing question for me on just how many Aes Sedai were lost to the White Tower over the course of the 3 years of the story, including those who died, unaccounted for Black Ajah, captured by the Seanchan or now sworn to the Black Tower. my guesstimate is it could be as few as 40% or as high as 80% or anywhere in between, any other ideas?

Do we know whether Moiraine returns to the White Tower between the events in New Spring and The Eye of the World? I'm hoping she sometimes sneaks into the Tower kitchens to catch up with Siuan, but I don't think there's anything to indicate that.

I'm wondering, did Robert Jordan ever give any indication of the effect the cleansing saidin of the Taint would have on the Ways? If their darkening was a result of the Taint on the "algorithms" used to create it, surely cleansing saidin of the Taint would alter the Ways substantially?
