I think we're pretty much all in agreement (are we?) that "The Great Serpent" refers to the Wheel of Time itself, and not to an entity or person. I have sometimes wondered, however, if the Great Serpent could also refer to the Creator, or to Rand himself, as he is titled "the Dragon" which happens to be a great serpent-like creature; however, I'm still pretty certain that when we discover that the DO intends to kill the Great Serpent, it means that he wants to destroy time. My question or point of discussion is this: Does the DO want to actually destroy all creation, as has been previously theorized and discussed by others, including me, or does he actually just wa…

I’ve seen mention on the forums of the Seanchan guy in Tear in Knife of Dreams, but is interesting that just before him, we see what seems like a Sharan, on screen for the first time: Knife of Dreams page 446 ‘Within The Stone’ SHARAN GUY “A very dark fellow with tightly curled hair, at a square table beside the door, seemed not to notice the Maidens at all. Rand took him for one of the Sea Folk at first, though he wore a peculiar coat without collars or lapels, once white but now stained and wrinkled. ‘I tell you, I have many, many of the… the worms that make… yes, make… silk on a ship,’ he sai…

Brandon said this on Twitter. Now this may be Way of Kings related and not WoT, but I can't help but think of Pevara. Brandon said back in the day there were scenes with Pevara being cool that might not fit in ToM, and that if it didn't he'd put it up on the website. Well, he's editing the final chapters of ToM, and he's putting up something on his website. ;D Whatever it is though I'm excited.

Hi, that is my first topic ever, which is of no interest. I've tried searching for a similar subject, but nothing came up (which is kinda surprising, maybe it already exists, in that case, All Apologies). I am wondering what is the best book in the series so far for you guys. I know, WoT is 1 story that shoudln't be divided, but it is and each book has its own main storyline and even style (no talking of Brandon here). Af for me, my answer in the middle of a re-read (end of book 4) would be book 4. There are so many events happening, such moving scenes (The Dedicated is wonderful) and the first time a female Forsaken is matched one on one. Plus, Perrin actu…

One of the important obstacles to re-uniting the Tower is that, no matter how obvious it is that Elaida needs to be removed as Amyrlin (and no one now seems to support her outside the Red Ajah), the Reds will continue to back her up. The following scenario occurred to me as one way to turn at least some of the Reds against Elaida: When Elaida sees how Egwene behaves in attending her, she blames Silviana, the Mistress of Novices, for failing to break Egwene. Consequently, she orders Silviana demoted to Accepted, something that worked before with Shemerin. We know, from her discussion with Egwene, that Silviana does not believe Elaida has the power to do this; in fa…

So. my question is why does the DO want Fain dead so badly? he has Slayer, the shadows most effective assassin, attempting to kill him for God knows how long. it has been theorized that the pack of darkhounds in CoT are after him. why is the DO so concerned that fain dies? is fain the Key to winning TG? i think Fain has the power to kill the DO and is going to help rand do it. what do u guys think?

For discussion of new information about the One Power, including *'angreal, new weaves, new information about old weaves, and the application of the One Power in the book. Please use common sense. Much of this could lead into other discussions, which belong in other threads. For instance if you wish to discuss the ter'angreal the Bloodknives wear it goes in this thread, if you want to discuss what the Bloodknives might yet achieve it goes in the Seanchan thread. Discuss!

A question that I was curious about (naturally, or I wouldn't be asking) that has likely been asked before, but if so it was likely some time ago, and I couldn't really find much about it. The question that follows goes like this: When Mat and Rand enter the square in Rhuidean, we are told the following (Mat's POV): Now, the bolded sections are what I am curious about. Is this Mat's Ashandrei, and if so, is it a ter'angreal (and, if so, what does it do)? Now, I know it says "some sort of things to do with the Power, anyway," and we know that Mat's ashandrei is power-wrought, so it's possible that's all their is too it, but it made me curious nonethele…

Has anyone else seen the covers they use for the Amazon Kindle editions of the books. I just saw them today and they are awesome, i did not like the one for EotW, until i saw what was in the background. I think it is cool that they have made new covers. they only have the first three out now but more to come, just thought i would share the news

I know this seems like a silly topic. RJ is certainly a fan of breasts, as one who has a healthy pair myself, I often wonder how big some of them are. I recall in Book 2, when the girls were saving Egwene from being collared. I don't know the exact excerpt, but Elynae put on a dress to disguise herself and the dress was way too loose on her, to the point that it made her look like a boy frame. Then Nynaeve put it on and her chest not only filled the dress, but almost to the point of spilling out. Does anyone else recall this? Just funny and interesting at the same time what RJ does with boobs.

So Maria was kind enough to answer some questions for me. There is some amazing stuff in there--including the death of one of my pet theories *sigh*. Enjoy. Also, this is Maria being extremely kind to me, and to all of you by extension. So appreciate her! ;D New MAFO Note: Maria is claims the right to ammend this later. Question--His other question was. Did Egwene squeeze Moggy for info on the Dream World? That was our First MAFO( Maria And Find Out). He also said that Egwene is a powerful dreamer and it seems unlikely that she didn't squeeze her for the info. Maria Answers-- this one is basic enough that I feel pretty confident that Egwene would …

Luc came to the Mountains of Dhoom. Isam waited in the high passes. The hunt is now begun. The Shadow's hounds now course, and kill. One did live, and one did die, but both are. The Time of Change has come. Is there any chance that "he who is dead yet lives" refers to Slayer instead of Rand?

Am I the only one that thinks that Knife of Dreams make the series good? All I hear is the Gathering Storm is the only later book that pick up the series, and I love both books. this is my first topic, I'm kind of new here.

I love the series, but if there's one thing I think have always held back it's commercial appeal, it's the title. "wheel of time?" Come on, with a decent title, it could have really hit the mainstream and branched out of its fantasy niche, just like Harry Potter. I've come up with some suggestions that I think would have helped sell the series a lot more: 1. The Amazing Adventures of Rand al'Thor & Friends 2. Trolloc! 3. The Cyclical Nature of Historical Development 4. A Dragon's Tale: Reborn 5. Fantasy Without Elves 6. Lord of the Wheel If anyone here have a suggestion they think could have marketed WoT into the mainstream like the above would hav…

We've heard lots of times that a channeler is susceptible to being turned into a dark friend, I think the first time we heard that was from Moraine in book 1. so as every book comes out I keep expecting it to happen at some point. There is no reason for RJ to include it in the books if he didn't plan to use it. I'm still reading the Gathering Storm, so please don't spoil me if it happens in this book, or is revealed in the book. My only guess is that when Isam and Luc ran into each other one of them was turned if not both. However, we've never seen Slayer channel, so there is no reason to believe that he can. Do we know if any Dark Sisters, or any other…

I think the next one to bite the dust will be Messana, she was shown in tGS as growing unstable and desperate after Semiraghe was taken. With her BA stripped away from the Tower, she doesn't have anything left. I think she's going to do something desperate in ToM and that will be the end of her. She's not going to make it to Tarmon Gaiden.

The one that irked me the most was the death of Sammael, as at the time he was my fave Forsaken because he was so active and we were aware of it. His death was a bit lame and I keep expecting him to come back because his demise was so unsure. When I read Mr Jordans comment on Sammael on here I was again annoyed, no more Sammael. So it was doubly disappointing. I think 1 being the most satisfying death and 10 being the opposite. So Sammaels is a ten for me. Aginors second death a six. His deaths suited his character really. Didn't really do much in between deaths, why bring him back.In fact most of the Forsaken that have came back have been disappointing exc…

So, iv been reading TGS and i was reading chapter 22. this is a very well written chapter and it escaped me the first few times i have read it but this time it clicked. Lews Therin knew the True Power. how is this possible unless... he has channeled it before???? what do you guys think? has lews therin channeled the TP before? how did he know with such certainty that it was the DO? he explicitly says (paraphrasing, sorry dont have my book) IT IS HIM!! so. how did he know?

just doing a re-read and i read something im not sure i follow. what was Semirhage talking about when she was faced with 'binding' or being severed back in the Age of Legends? i get that she wasn't a good person, and binding would curtail her experiments in Healing, but she made it seem like binding was something that was being used in the current timeline of Randland. thanks.

I wonder if there will be other series, even if just a trilogy this time. 1. Steampunk - WoT looks like it's venturing into steampunk from Book 10 onwards. I wonder if there will be a new series, this time in the Fourth Age where everybody's getting around in locomotives and using words like 'Madam' and 'indubitably'? 2. Age of Legends. We hear a lot about it, but don't get the flesh and origins. A prequel style trilogy would be nice. What other ideas do you have? Should WoT become a franchise?

Here's a theory I have about how the Light may win against the Dark One, although I fully realize that it could certainly be wrong. Just posting it here to see what people think. It's maybe been mentioned before, but I hadn't really seen a lot of discussion regarding it: My theory largely has to do with the theme of Rand trying to be turned to the Dark One's service, and the whole idea of "A Memory of Light." At the end of The Gathering Storm, we see him come to a point where he wants to escape his destiny by breaking the Wheel of Time, the endless cycle of death and rebirth. Then he realizes that these cycles afford him a second chance - a chance to set things r…

While reading the going the tGS a second time I seem to notice something that I have missed in the past. How big of a part will Min play in the LB? Of course she plays a large role with her viewings and her close relationship with Rand, but it seems to me like she will have more than just the aforementioned. I’m at work so I can’t look at a book in tGS where she mentions it and pick out the chapter (I know hard at work ) but Min is very determined to help Rand defeat the DO (obviously!). Herid Fel had what seemed to be important information for completing his task. I did manage to cook up this quote from LoC, “Belief and order give strength. Have to clear rubble b…

So, the was a bit of confusion about Cyndane's strength in the signing question and answers session. Here is the Q&A and Brandon's later clarification. So, I find this very interesting. Essentially Brandon was under the impression that Cyndane's strength was much weaker than it was, and that her occasional bursts of strength were due to the Dark One playing around. This was not the case, her strength is still quite strong--stronger than Graendal--and that’s what it's always been. So the first question is, what was it in the notes that led Brandon to his false conclusion? Given how long Brandon and Maria debated it I'd say it had to be somethi…

So, this hasn't been discussed for a while, and my re-read just passed it, so I was wondering if anyone had new thoughts about her. Here is what's wierd. and... Finally, though it may mean nothing, directly after this meeting we have. Now a few key points. Mesaana She's the go to gall for weird behaviour in Aes Sedai, but these oddities don't really fit with her being Mesaana. Why does she seem pleased that she was forced by Tsutama not to tell Elaida? If she'd wanted to not tell Elaida, she'd simply have not told her. Additionally Javindhra's reactions are off. For instance when she learns that Aes Sedai have swo…

Okay, so here we guess how the series ends. There has to be a twist because otherwise the prophecies have already told us exactly how the thing will conclude. Do we know who Rand's mother was? Maybe that will be a stunning revelation in the final book, and Lanfear or someone like that turns out to be his mum.
