After reading some posts about the collection of armies/countries, I think we need to talk about where the last battle will be fought. Is it going to be in the borderlands and then push onto SG? Or will it be fought in different locations? I know the prophecies state the Dark One will be defeated in Shayol Ghul, but does anybody remember anything about other locations being hinted at?

I've searched the forums, and cannot find a similar thread (I'm sure the mod's will point me in the right direction if I'm wrong though). In The Shadow Rising (sorry @ work, with no books, but dreaming of WoT as nomal!), we find Perrin and Slayer in the wolf dream, with Perrin in hot pursuit. Perrin chases Slayer to the Tower of Ghenji, and he receives his warning from Brigete. We know from reading that the Aeliffin/Eeliffin (sp) are not evil (as the shadow is evil), but is it possible that Slayer received his abilities (Isam/Luc) from the finns? Later in Winters Heart (thanks mb!), we get a POV from Slayer stating something to the effect of "I've receive…

Just an observation that I have that has kind of bothered me for a long time. Rand, Mat, and Perrin are all ta'veren, Rand being the strongest. Is it just me or does Nynaeve and Elayne and Egwene have certain properties of being Ta'veren also? Too many things turn out to work out just right for them. Nynaeve just happens to walk into the room in Tanchico where Moghedien happens to be. And that is just one example. I can't come up with all the specific occurances of this, but they certainly seem to have ta'veren tendencies. Could it be possible that Siuan noticed that they were ta'veren and neglected to mention this to them. We all know how secretiv…

Hi all! I'm reading this part for the third time now, and some things are still unclear to me. What I'm talking about is Chapter22 of the CoS - well, actually, some chapters before and after that as well. So if someone could explain me in details what actually happens in Ebou Dar regarding Mat, the Wandering Woman, Setalle Anan and the girls, I'd be grateful. Things I don't EXACTLY understand include: Why is Caira acting weird about Birgitte in Mat's room. Who does she (and Setalle) think she is? Who do they take Mat for? What dangers do they think he is in? The morning after, Elayne and Nynaeve visit Mat. Who does Caira think they are a…

In Knife of Dreams, chapter 24 "Honey in the Tea," we have the following passage, in which Egwene encounters Beonin in the Tower: I have bolded two places. In the first, Beonin responds to Egwene's accusation, "You're the one who betrayed me," by saying "I betrayed nothing." In the second, Beonin attempts to respond to Egwene's question, "What else have you betrayed," using the same words, "I betrayed nothing," only this time she is unable to, because those words would be a lie. In the most simplistic interpretation, this is a contradiction. Either Beonin never betrayed anything in her life, or she did. In the first case, "I betrayed nothing" is the tru…

Hello people. :) I've been within my own brain today in a fit of lore pondering. Something i am sure alot of you can sign onto doing from time to time. In this lore pondering i began to ponder about medical knowledge and treatment options in the WOT universe without the aid of the one power. Which i am sure has been up before and isn't the point of my topic. In this pondering i had a faint memory from the first time i read the books (i am currently re-reading them) of a mention of Nynaeve at some point having to treat a epedemic breaking out in The Two rivers. Now my question is. this this actually happen in the books or am I in the confusion of 11 books …

Ishamael is a lying liar who lies. SO - Did Lews Therin Telamon kill his family, or is that just a line of hooey that Ishamael fed him to inflict pain when LTT was in no state to refute him? Discuss.

Aes Sedai means 'servants of all' right? Does anyone else find this extremely laughable? I think 'those who make all other serve them' is slightly closer.

The purpose of this thread is to discuss what would make a crazy battle, either in the WoT universe or WoT vs. anything else. I personally would like to see ASoIaF go head to head with WoT(pre Asha'man--> wouldn't even be fair) and trollocs duke it out with some LotR orcs.

I'm on KoD and I just started thinking. Why is saidar so easy to handle when saidin is like a raging icy river (i think that's how they put it)? I'm trying to think of a time if they explain why it's so difficult for male channelers, but I can't think of any. Could someone tell me, I'm very curious!

Every time I think of it, I get to one point in which I understand that the Age of Legends couldn't have been that perfect as described. We all know that most if not all the Forsaken were and still are psychopaths. This can especially be seen with Semirhage. She was a nurse (or something in that line) but was also a sadist. How can someone become a sadist in such a safe and secure society with almost no crime and all that. We know that she was like this before she swore oath to the DO.

All of us in this community love and cherish WoT. I mean, its the most complete and intricate of fantasy series ever made. period. and yet, people would rather b*^& about the fact that its really long and that RJ has gone too much "into" the world, as it were. now lets back up a little. fantasy basically came to being majorly after lotr. All RJ did was further the genre, he breathed more and more life into it, and is still somewhat shunned by the so called 'experts'. 'Christopher Paolini started reading fantasy books when he was ten years old, but was "frustrated" by the "absence of quality writing".' (www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/eragon). so i ask, are there…

I have been doing a second reread and I just finished up The Dragon Reborn. There are a few odd things especially in The Eye Of The World. Things like Moraine's Staff. In the book i think she said it was an "aid to concentration", we also see Moraine using a switch in The Dragon Reborn in the opening battle in the mountains. She doesn't comment on it but when it touched a "cut of flame" appeared and then spread until they died. I don't think we have seen any other Aes Sedai using similar items. Do we know if they are Ter'Angreal or if they just have personal significance to Moraine? It seems that she could do what she does without these items. In general I have notic…

Ok, so I've been listening to the 4rth Age podcast and I am now listening to book eight. I have to say that I am very surprised that the issue of Moiraine is even a topic of controversy. It is VERY obvious what is going to happen. Min is never wrong about what she sees. She comments that Moiraine is the only viewing she was wrong about. Logically this means she saw Moiraine doing something important in the future. So this means Moiraine is not dead and she will be coming back. Min is never wrong. Now in what capacity or for what cause will Moiraine be returning is fully open to speculation. But for certain she will be returning. One thing about R.J. you can take to …

When Min saw Daved Hanlon in Darlin's camp in Crown of Swords, she saw great violence in his future--presumably worse than awaits the average soldier, or even the very good soldier, or she would not have shivered so. It seems unlikely that Hanlon has had a chance to fulfill this yet. Thus, he is probably going to escape from where he is currently held by Elayne as a darkfriend. This thread is, generally, to discuss how that might happen (or whether, for those who dispute my reasoning). However, I also have a pet theory about this. Elayne is likely to have Lounalt (Arymilla's torturer, who became Sylvase's "secretary;" or perhaps was Sylvase's, or her grandfather …

i just reread the part where Rand goes Rhu and gets the two marks on his arms. And comes back, "He who comes back with the dawn" Anyways when he looks through his ancestors eyes, it is clear the true Aiel are blessed with long life. I cannot remember the exact paragraph. But it was when they were singing, near the very beginning Anyways, i cannot remember any indication that they still are blessed with longer life? Or have i got myself exceedingly confused? Regards Surreall

This came to my attention in another thread and i want to hear people's thoughts on it. Birgette is tied to The Horn of Valere as one of its hero's bound to return and fight for whoever sounds the horn. Birgette came when Mat blew the horn at Falme, but now that she is Alive, what will happen to her when Mat blows the horn at Tarmon'Gaidon?

So the Dark One thread is an interesting read, and i almost brought this up there given the nature of its recent discussion, but ultimately i figured i should revive this in a new thread because it's old, and not directly related to that discussion... Ignore it if you want, just thought it might prove interesting. Ok, so i created this thread out of a discussion that is ongoing in the "Who says there's going to be a bloody body swap?!?!?!" thread. I basically stems around a question asked by Robert. Specifically, this question. Quote Yeah, the same catechism also says that the Creator bound all the Forsaken with the Dark One at the moment of creation. It's f…

I have been reading all the posts about how the DO will finally break free of his prison during Tarmon Gaiden, but what does that mean exactly? We know that Ishy constantly says that the DO will break the wheel of time and slay the serpent, but why did this not happen when the DO was more free during the AOL? I understand the DO only touched the world a little through his prison during the AOL, but would his touch/influence in the world be more complete this time? Would the DO actually have the power to follow through during this age? If so, why do you think that is? Could it be that there is no one in this age that can oppose his fully breaking free from his place outsid…

I was rereading #4 and noticed the part where avi leaks to Rand that the WO were spying on his dreams, she talks like she was looking at them as well, but needed one of them to giude her. So i guess my question is, did she just make a generalization or not?

Okay. First off, this thread will write off any theories people have about Shaidar Haran radiating an anti-channeling field. In A Crown of Swords, page 460 paperback, Moghedien notes to herself that Shaidars strange shield was not there anymore. She still doesnt channel but she notes that she now can feel the Source. So Shaidar Haran doesnt stop anyone near him from channeling and thats that. Secondly and more to the point, after the ordeal with Shaidar and Moghedien realising she has failed and whatnot, she thinks to herself "the True Power was denied her, of course" as if it she only just realised. Also, interestingly, when stood in the Pit of Doom a few pages earl…

Hi guys, sorry if this was already asked, i searched in the forum but i didn't find it, so delete or move this topic if it's not in the right place! Well, in the italian forum we're getting mad trying to understand what is it the double meaning of this name. Siuan blushed looking at the name of this inn and we don't understand why. The only thing i can think is that in english can sounds like "The nine who*** hitch/itch" and in this case i can get the meaning ;D Otherwise i really don't know. In italian doesn't have any malicious meaning and the translator (that's really really bad >:() didn't try to give the double meaning. Thanks ;)

Sup guys, I was wondering (sorry if this has been discussed), how big do you guys see Lan's army becoming, with Nynave sp. going around telling people they better join, along with his reputation, along with who he is, a malkier king/ Best of the warders, and maybe even he'll get a bunch of the people who just want to join because they feel the need to fight this battle, ie people like the blacksmith and farmer from the prologue read by robert jordan at jordan con. I myself see it as rivaling one of the Aeil clans in terms of warriors, and the fact that these are going to be borderland warriors, i have a feeling this is going to be a powerful force against the Sh…

I'm working on my re-read, and something struck me about the whole dead greyman incident at the beginning of the TDR. After Sheriam tells Nyn and Egwene to keep quiet then the two girls go and blab to Elayne. When Sheriam catches them in this, she remarks that only five people know that a greyman died in the tower, to which Nyn replies "you mean five people and the person who killed him right?" Sheriam doesn't answer the question. So now for my question. Did Sheriam simply forget to include the killer in her calculation or did Sheriam kill the greyman and give an accurate count of people who knew about it?

i got a few questions on it. 1. where is all the population at the time? Rand mentions that the streets should be full of people yet it's empty. 2. there are a whole bunch of trollocs there, yet IIRC some people still don't believe Gaebril is a forsaken, and how did he manage to hide them all? 3. this is more about how balefire works. we know that Rand balefires Ravhin powerful enough to bring back Mat and the rest, but shouldn't that mean that Rand would no longer be in TAR since he's there because he followed Rahvin. plus he got a few bites by dream-fishes made by Rahvin, those bitemarks should begone too, yet they are not

I found this on accident in a random Google search: http://takoren.tripod.com/id8.html I'm not sure what this is exactly. There are characters and corresponding actors, but is this the actual cast-to-be (it seems a bit star heavy, maybe, then the comments make it sound more realistic, but that could be easily hypothetical) or someone's predictions or preferences? I can't tell, I don't see "Red Eagle" anywhere, but, Hey, maybe I'm an idiot. Anyways I'm sure we can make a discussion out of it. You can see more of the choices by scrolling down and clicking to see the next page. I think most of the actors chosen are very good, I could see them portraying the charact…

I'm re-reading WoT for the 3rd time right now and a thought occurred to me, Why did it not occur to anyone to keep Rand in a stedding till the last battle? He could have taken Lan with him and maybe an Aes Sedai or two and trained hard and stepped outside the stedding occasionally to hone his use of the OP without going mad and falling sick to the wasting disease from using the male half of the power. I am aware it would have not made for good reading but still he would have been safe from the taint and had plenty of time to train. Anyone who tried to attack him in the stedding would have had to face the ogier and also no forsaken or black ajah could have used th…
