I'm reading book 11 (yes, still), and I'm reading the chapter where Suroth meets Semirhage. Did we know before this chapter that she was a DF? I dont remember knowing that... perhaps I missed it elsewhere but it just seems a bit 'all or nothing' that if we DIDNT know, we suddenly find out that she's a darkfriend AND she has a dalliance with Semi, agrees to find and kill Tuon and finds out that the entire Imperial family except for Tuon are dead, all in the space of about 3 pages... Did I miss it earlier in the books (it's not unheard of for me to miss things!), or did RJ suddenly realise he was running out of time and decide to put everything in one chapter?

i know that balefire destroys everything but hear me out. at the end of TDR in the first battle of the Stone of Tear we see Ishmael shoot his Balefire on Rand. Rand then lifts up the glowing Callandor and the Balefire has no effect, I'm not sure but i think it reflects it into a wall. was it the material in Callandor or did Rand do something with the Power? and also, i don't remember but did than happen in Tel'Aran'Rhiod or the real world?

So, I have read the books several times- the EotW the most. I have also listened to the audio books. One part always nags at me. When Thom, Mat, and Rand are in Whitebridge and Thom saves the boys from the myrddraal a blue flash is described. Later, when Lan, Moraine, and Nynaeve reach Whitebridge there are several houses burned (none of which stand next to each other), and they hear a rumor of the “trouble” being caused by a man channeling. I am convinced someone channeled. I do not think it was anyone on the fade’s side. You would assume that if a darkfriend (that could channel) or forsaken where there the boys would not have escaped. They would have used …

in a world map of the world of time, where would the origin be centered about? also, how interested would people be with an interactive map of the WoT (like google earth maybe) and on a completely different note, if the Creator and the DO are so much above the pattern (well the creator must be, he created it, and the DO should be his equal and opposite or woudlnt have to be imprisoned so) why is the DO so threatened by the Dragon? dang so many questions about the book, so little time FB

ok i just started re-reading all the books, and i've noticed something. (which has probally already been realised many a time as it seems quite obvious) but anyway here it goes: for the prologue in EotW it says at the end of the first extract "from Aleth nin Taerin alta Camora, The Breaking of the World. Author Unknown, the Forth Age" but then at the begining of the first chapter and every first chapter "In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past" so my question is, is the prologue actually the ending of the series but told as a history (story) to those from the next age? (perhaps a sort of foreshadowing device) the only re…

Hey guys, was hoping you can help me out here. I'm working in the first stage of a possible essay involving Wheel of Time as a case study on the subject of difference between male and female communication. My thesis (is that the correct word in english? You know what I mean anyway) is that male readers in general tend to understand and agree with randlands male caracters reasoning and thinking, while considering the female characters as illogical and vice verse for female readers. IE, males tend to think Nyneave to be fairly illogical in her reasoning, while females think it more reasonable, and the other way around with Mat for example. This is someth…

I don't know if this has been asked before but who is the person that questioned Sheriam in the camp on it's way to Tar Valon before the meeting with Pelivar and the others. I am assuming it is a darkfriend but not sure if it is someone from the Black Ajah or one of the Forsaken. It has to be from one of those two groups as they used the power on her to question her. I am thinking that it might possibly be Halima/Arangar, if it is one of the Forsaken. If it is someone from the Black Ajah I am thinking that it may be Dalana. Any thoughts? But another thought comes to me as I am writing this. Could it possibly be an Ashaman? If it is, how do they know the location of …

I'm re-reading tEoTW right now, and I'm at the part where everyone reunites in Caemlyn and Moraine finally finds out about the dreams. Perrin says something like "I guess I found my protection" (meaning the wolves are protecting his dreams) and she agrees. It made me remember that they made a big deal about Rand warding his dreams after Asmo teaches him. Thought it was interesting that the DO doesn't bother anyone in dreams much after this, probly because he now knows which of the three the Dragon Reborn is. Still, I'd mess with the good guys as much as I could if I were the DO. Forgive me, my thoughts are kinda mangled and there might be reverse logic here,(That's w…

I know that Balwer has it in for the Whitecloaks, especially Valda, but, I just feel that there is something else going on there. It is like an inch between my shoulder blades that I can't reach everytime I think about it. I have no clue as to what it could be however and it is driving me nuts. Anybody else have an opinion on this?

Is it just me or does anyone else have minor issues with Brandons' character dialogue sometimes? His narrative for all his books that I've read (The Mistborn's and Elantris) seems fine but the character dialogue sometimes seems stilted or something. Maybe it's the language. It seems too contemporary for the worlds he's built on occasion. I cannot give specific examples but on listening to the books I've thought several times, That doesn't sound right.. (I listen to books btw as I drive for a living; I have many hours to listen, and very few to read)... It's not the readers (though I don't care a whit for the reader they have for Elantris). They've both had decent rhy…

we all know that those who can learn to use the Power become Sul'dam. The Seanchan captured a whole bunch of future damanes on theyre invasions but they must have found some who can learn it aswell. given that the Randland people resist here and there, do the Seanchan trust them enough to make them Sul'dam? or is there another option for those who can learn to use the power?

Long time reader of WOT. Not sure if topic has been covered from this point of view yet. Always thought Jordan had something planned for the Last Battle that isnt quite what everyone (in the book and out) thinks its going to be. Several clues worth considering. 1.) Luc was told he was vital to the Last Battle and went to get "merged" with Isam. 2.) Rand keeps seeing Mordin face, like they are connected some how. 3.) Min's vision about him merging with someone and one living and one dieing. 4.) Rand was told by Alefinn that to Live he must Die 5.) Nicola fortelling that hints Rand will be around. 6.) Rand was also told by Al…

long have i sat and read these books, almost constantly, and now i am pretty sure what is meant by wolf king (i bring this up because people seem to think the wolves will call him king) either the rise of manetheran or the broken crown... I find it more likely that it would be the broken crown mainly because perrin gave up rights to manetheron... ok im finally glad to actually voice my opinion now, who thinks im crazy? (i say this because nine times outta ten im wrong) :-\

I'm doing a reread and just got to KoD. I just finished Elaida's conversation with Beonin and it seems that the ferrets may prove to be of great help with taking down Elaida. After reading that it occurred to me that the ferrets probably spend most of their time hanging out with the Black Ajah hunters who happen to be Sitters, and it will appear to Elaida that those Sitters are treasonous. She may even see Seaine's lack of progress with finding evidence of Alviarin's treason as additional proof. And I don't see Elaida asking questions of anyone she is suspicious of, or believing anything they say.

I wonder how the different family trees look like in the WOT universe. How does Perrin's and Mat's family tree look like? How does Nynaeve's, Elayne's or Egwene's family tree look like? I can't remember all the persons in the series. Can someone help?

yeah, read EotW again. noticed that they made a point of the speed difference between the outside and the inside. so I was just wondering: A length of rope (twice as long as half its length :D) is outside a waygate. just on the floor, nothing special, just normal rope. One end is taken through the way gate and then the rest is pulled into the ways. what would happen???? cause if you think about it. time in the ways is faster? so the speed in the ways is faster than the speed outside the ways, so then the speed outside the ways would have to be increased to compensate. Say the ways is twice as fast as outside, or the outside is 1/2 as fast as the ways. so th…

I've posted a new WoT movie on youtube. I have tried to portray the opening chapter of EoTW, using 'The Movies' software. It opens with Rand and Tam on the Quarry Road and then progresses into Emond's field introducing the other characters. I seem to have far too much time on my hands, but I start my new job in Jan so I am just having some fun until then. Please click the link below to see the movie. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=oGthdN7YlsE Please let me know what you think.

Does anyone else think that it was Asmo who gave Couladin his dragons on his forearms? We know Couladin never went to Rhuidean and he ain't He Who Comes With The Dawn anyway so wouldn't have come bk with 2 dragons if he did. Just wondered if it was ever explained how Couladin got his dragons??

A co-worker and I have been discussing wether or not Mazrim Taim could possibly be Asmo or a recarnate of Asmo. A few of our other friends have agreed that this theory is possible if not totally probably so im curious what others think. Thanks for your comments.

This thread is to discuss Mesaana's identity in the White Tower. My guess would be that she would be someone of the Black Ajah at least after Alviarin's disappearance, maybe also before; for how else could she have controlled it if she was not of it. I would also guess that she would not disguise herself as someone known to be away from the white tower or as someone known to be dead; for people on the side of the Light would immediately discover her if she did. By the way she dresses (and also by her strength in the One Power), a maid or cook could probably be excluded. Another guess would be that she is a Sitter (if she has influence over other Aes Sedia). He…

At the end of Knife of Dream, Mat has a couple of Aes Sedai working with the band: Joline, a Green, and Teslyn,of the Red Ajah. Both are Tower loyalists. (There’s another sister with them, but I can’t remember her name. She’s a yellow, a rebel and refrains from the fighting with the band, if I remember correctly), I’m wondering what will happen with the Mat and the Band once they get back into Aes Sedai country. Despite all the squabbles and fights Mat has had with Joline and Teslyn, I think the sisters will become quite protective (and possessive) towards Mat. Perhaps the Band will become and magnet for the Green “Battle Ajah” (and maybe even the Reds) as TG nears? …

Considering the way threads get off topic in this forum, I though I would post a double. The 3rd age is still caught up with the 'folly' of male leadership, symbolized by the taint. Rand has cleansed the taint but of course the world is slow to acknowledge change. Given that our (very sexist) world is supposed to be the distant future (and past - wheels are funny like that), I propose that the end of the 3rd age will see a distrust of female leadership spearheaded by the collapse of Aes Sedai power, laying the groundwork for the sexism of our age. I believe that most of the libraries (and Rand's schools) in Randland will be razed (including the famous Tower…
