Right something got me thinking about when people get spun into the pattern meaning the peole tied to the pattern [people of legends]. Once someone has been spun into the pattern can the horn bring their ture self back like what mat did the falme he blew it and birgette(SP?) was there. so good old silverbow knows that giadal has been spun into the pattern again (BORN) so if mat blew the horn again would Gaidal just be there in his former self while having the new Gaidal somewhere discovering his talents with bow (i think) or would the Gaidal that has been spun into the pattern die to let the true Gaidal come back and fight. Im hoping RJ hasnt explained this some…

I've never read the BWB and I don't know much about the Forsaken as an Order of channelers in the AoL. Now I thought that to be one of the "Chosen" you had to be exceptionally powerful and/or skilled, and you recieved various benefits including access to the TP and immortality. While it is hinted that there were more Forsaken than the 13 we meet in the series, I thought that the Forsaken even in the AoL only numbered 30 or less, and the 13 we know were only the ones who lived to see (and personally experience) the Bore being patched. Without any evidence, i assumed that the DO had many more channelers serving him, but the Forsaken were the elite. However someone said on a…

Ok on two occasions that I can remember a non BA Aes Sedai considered killing another sister. Moraine when Verin confronted them about Rand in the second book and veerin when she was considering killing Cas. Now none of the three oaths say you can't murder a sister (well unless you were going to try it with the one power). After all their grumbling about how those 13 BA stole from the tower and killed warders and sisters seems to me the good Aes Sedai seem just as ready to kill another to protect a secret. But how can one claim I will kill her to guard my secret yet think its ok becuase the aren't BA?

Here's my own personal story: Today, I went to the gorcery store to pick a few things up. I was walking to check out and this young man passes by (20ish). He's tall, really broad with a gentle face. His arms were thick with muscles....almost like a blacksmith's apprentice. Did I think, what a great looking guy! Or, wow, he's hot! No, my first thought was, now THAT'S Perrin. *sigh* Only thing missing was the golden eyes and the beard. BTW, the term 'geek' wasn't meant to be offensive. It's only a word I'm using to describe myself. :)

The Aes Sedai are one of the most complex groups in the story. They have a lot of problems, problems that are made worse by their refusal to concider them. This is an attempt to look at them in their full nature. I'll start with them as close i can to the beginning of their nature and proceed from there. I will finish with a summary of their current situation. Aes Sedai Recruitment Their problems begin with the methods they use to recruit and train new girls. They restrict their training to young girls who have sought them out (with the exception of the odd wilder). They do this because the younger a novice the easier they are molded, and because those that seek…

Skimming through KOD's again and noted something unusual in ch 12 "A Manufactory". We know and have seen a great deal of chatter about the Taveren (sp) swirls / images seen by Rand, Perrin, and Matt when they think of or hear about each other. Links & connections to each other. However, in the ch referenced above, when Perrin is riding with the Seanchan through their stronghold, he tells them he knows another man (Elyas) who has golden eyes. The two Seanchan with him then exhange a long / knowing look. Perrin then asks himself if there is a Seanchan prophecy regarding 2 men with Golden Eyes. At this moment, Perrin sees swirls which he then "stamps ou…

Has anyone out there noticed non-English words being appropriately used in TWOT? I mean something like the following: Shai'tan; The Dark One: Shai'tan is the Arabic word for Satan. It's pronounced exactly the same way, with a pause after the shai bit. It sounds like shy-uh-than. Additionally, one of the kings of Randland has the surname Alsalaam. Al'Salaam means Of Peace in Arabic. -- Can someone give me his first name? I'd bet it fits in. Anyone else seen words outside of English that have been used appropriately or not in TWOT?

this is pretty obvious. The Red Ajah is going to disband. There is no reason for them to exist anymore. There is no more taint, and besides, there is the rumor that they are Black Ajah going along Randland.

This is probably in the wrong section and there are probably a bunch of threads on this already.(I checked though.) James Oliver Rigney got his "author" name from a book called For Whom the Bell Tolls The main character's name was Robert Jordan. I just found that interesting.

Is there a list of the differences between the Seanchan prophicies & the regular phrophacies? We know that Ishy made some changes to them, but also there appears to be some differences that are valid - Like those about the Wolf king etc. Sorry if this has ben mentioned before - i did a quick look & did not see it.

I've reached the Book 10 Barrier, as I've come to call it. I've been reading (or not reading, as the case appears to be) book 10 CoT for about 2 months now. I'm stuck about half way through. I have no motivation to read the rest, even though I'm totally besotted with the story... Egwene has just 'allowed' Delana to manipulate her, agreeing to send Beonin off to the WT to talk to Elaida. Sigh. I have actually read book 10 before, but it was ages ago and it's all as-new to me. I need some motivation to keep reading!! Please tell me the rest of the book isnt Faile this and Faile that, or Elayne whingeing about this and that, or there's a chance I may ne…

During an internal dialogue, Rand and Lews Therin come up with a metaphor describing the Creator and his role. According to Rand Therin, the Creator is like a gardener and the World is like a flower. The Creator nurtures the garden as a whole, but does not go out of his way to help any particular flower. I think RJ delibrately put this in to explain to us why the Creator doesn't just step in and fix everything. If you've read this scene before (i think its in CoT), then maybe you can help me with my question. What is a "World" as defined in this example? It doesn't seem that the worlds reached by the portal stones could be Worlds (note the capital) because they are …

If the Aes Sedai must swear Oaths, why not swear like this: 1) Never do anything that will aid the Shadow in any possible way. 2) Never lie unless in the utmost defense of your life or the life of your Warder or the life of another sister and / or her Warder or the White Tower. 3) Never use the One Power to cause permanent damage to a living being except Shadowspawn, and as a last resort against Darkfriends or when in the utmost defense of your life or the life of your Warder or the life of another sister and / or her Warder or the White Tower. 4) Never use the One Power to construct anything that can be used by other people as a weapon. 5) Never …

Robert Jordan blade collection now available on eBay The following letter is from Greg Kitchens, the “Armorer” who is facilitating the auction of Robert Jordan’s weapon collection on ebay. The first of Robert Jordan’s personal collection of blades are now available on ebay. I have been planning these auctions for a couple of months now and have some thoughts to share. Let's assume that TG is over. The DO dead , Rand dead , Randland devastated ,his troops largely diminished , White Tower weakened or broken , Ashaman free . Even if the Dragon Reborn is alive noone needs him (no DO anymore) . My guess is that everyone (and I mean everyone )will try to seize as much as possible . Conflicts will spread everwhere ...... Winner? The Seanchan Empire . Fewer loses during TG (biggest battles almost certainly at Randland ) , well-trained fleet , thousands of war trained channelers , centralised command of war . So , everyone comes to Daughter of Nine Moons as Empress of the world

I queried Narishma's name in the forum <Search> but didn't see any reference to the following: REFERENCE: KOD's, pg 450 "Within the Stone" BACKGROUND: After Traveling with his possy to the Heart of the Stone, and after looking at the hole in the stone slab that once contained Calandor, Rand thinks to himself... As I'm re-reading KOD's for the 1st time, I'm not 100% certain if the answer to this question should already be known or if it is answered later on, but my recollection is that it is not. Thoughts?

To be more precise, what is between the Waste and the Sea of Storms? We know that there is an ocean route from Tear to Shara (Sea Folk trade on it), which goes to the south through the Sea of Storms- a northern route would be absurd due to the Blight and the Dead Sea. We also know that there is no contact between Sea Folk and Aiel- witness the Aiel legends about Sea Folk eating their dead, and the just-as-bizarre Sea Folk legends about the Aiel. So why do the Sea Folk never put in along the south coast of the Waste, and why do no Aiel live there? Possibilities- that far south the Waste is so hot as to be uninhabitable- unlikely given that we're talking about Ai…

Back from Dragon*Con with Many Updates Posted on 09.02.08Categories: Elantris Mistborn 3 Wheel of Time Dragon*Con was awesome. I was so busy the entire time that I barely had time to think, but I have to say that the Wheel of Time fans are just about the coolest people ever. I loved hanging out with all the folks from Tar Valon.net, Dragonmount, Theoryland, and the rest of you. (I know that there were others.) Also, those of you who killed me during the game of Who's a Darkfriend are going to pay some day. I'd never been to Dragon*Con before, and it was...well, it was what I'd always thought a Con would be before I started attending other ones. Costumes, cra…

Half Way! Posted on 08.22.08Categories: A Memory of Light I crossed the 50% mark on A MEMORY OF LIGHT last night. I still worry that this book will go longer than 400k, which means this wouldn't actually be halfway. However, it's 200k words, which is a nice milestone. I know that a lot of people don't know how to judge wordcounts. When I use wordcounts to say how long a book is, readers will often say "So...how many pages is that?" I'm never sure how to respond to this, because page counts can be rather variable. Typesetters can work some real magic with font and layout to make a page count come out the way they want, which is why a lot of industry profes…

Before Rand channelled the Eye of the World it is generally accepted that he had only channelled three times (at least that is the impression I have received from the boards). I agreed with this ascesment until my current reread. I believe that Rand channelled four times prior to the Eye. 1. Leaving the Two Rivers, helping Bela run. Rand went a bit goofy with the Children of the Light in Baerlon because of this. 2. Pulling the boom on Captain Doman's boat into a trolloc to save himself. Rand climbed to the top of the mast and slid down despite a complete lack of training because of this. 3. Frying Gode and escaping the Flying Cartman with lightening. Rand…

I've been doing somethinking on the last battle to come and came to the conclusion that the Dark one is alittle screwed. My reasoning is this: We've all seen what channeling can do in a battle, either by Rand destroying thousands with the One power or even Moraine sweeping aside all those trollocs in the two rivers. From what I've percieved it seems that one channeler can take down upwards of 500 shadow spawn in a battle, and thats not putting into effect the extremley powerfull channelrs like elayne, Nyn...ect. Now that being said, really how many channelrs do you think are on the "Dark side". Not many if you think about it. A few forsaken left and a few re…

New to the forum, and not sure if this has come up. During a quick re-read of KOD, there was an interesting exchange in ch 11, "Hell in Mederin". After Matt's knife fight in the alleyway, he turns around and sees Tom & Tuan's attendant (Sareitha?), standing amidst 6 dead bodies. Tom & Sareitha who were both guarding Tuan <before she finished off Matt's last oponent - who was a female> had some knife induced scrapes, but Tuan is clean and untouched. Then Matt overhears Tom say to Sareith that he sees things, but because he's so old, he often forgets what he sees. What did he see? Supposition: I think he saw Tuan use the power.

Is it possible that Rand can / may be able to tap the True Power through his link to Moridin / Ishamael? I think it's well documented that there is a link (of some kind) between the two. I believe Mierin / Lanfear tapped & used the TP at the end of the AOL when she bored into the DO's prison. Makes me think that it's at least possible for someone only accustomed to the OP to use and weave the TP. Maybe by using the TP, and both sides of the OP, he'll be able to create a more thorough seal and or defeat the DO? Fight fire with fire? Of course, to do that he'd have to be linked with a woman. We know Nynaeve doesn't want to do that again but we do kn…

So, what weather do you guys think separate parts of the world have. We know that the winters are tough in the Borderlands, and that on the coast to the Storm Seas there can be frequent storms where much rainfall comes pouring down. I am not sure about the rest of the world, except of the Aiel waste of course :D

I'm working on a re-read of KoD and I just finished Chapter 3 (At the Gardens). It's blatantly clear Asan'gar is sexually attracted to Graendal - unless she is acting in order to successfully manipulate Graendal. Now, rewind. Halima has always been portrayed as a floozy since her introduction. Clearly in these instances she is attracted to men. Is this just her vague memory of Balthamel resurfacing briefly? Or is Halima the first obvious bisexual/homosexual (at least that I've noticed) in Randland? Like I said... this is just out of my own warped curiosity. ::)
