To fulfill the Seanchan prophecies, Rand has to kneel to the Crystal Throne which now belongs to Tuon. Maybe she and Matt will be in Ebou Dar some night doing something with red ribbons and daggers when Rand pops in for a visit. He'll drop his new fake left hand onto the floor, it'll roll under the bed, and he'll kneel down to retrieve it. That should count, right? No, really. Matt knows Rand. Matt is "married" to Tuon. Should be the perfect bridge to get the Seanchan on Rand's side for TG, shouldn't it? Of course, this can only happen after Matt, Thom, and Jain Farstrider rescue Moraine...first things first! Should get interesting. Has Tuon admitted…

**I don’t think this topic as been discussed because I couldn’t find anything on it when I tried searching for it.** Well here it goes! I’ve read the series several times and there is one major part (at least I think it is important) that has been driving me crazy for years trying to figure out who this mysterious “wanderer” is. It happens in A Crown of Swords in chapter 41 ( the relevant passage starts at the top of page 846 and goes to the top of page 849… in the paper back edition) when Rand pursues Sammael from Illian to Shadar Logoth attempting to kill him. Just when Rand might possibly die this mysterious man showed up to save the day. Not only did he sav…

Sorry about the title, it looks stupid and funny at the same time ::) The Wheel of Time will stand the Test of Time!! I have been on this site for a few months and have enjoyed every minute of it. Sometimes I have had my ideas shot down, with good reason, but I have LEARNED something when it has happened. What I am getting at is all of the debating, discussing, ranting, raving, throwing chairs, calmly explaining, forcefully considering, fighting (with no blood loss) etc. and yet the books have held up!! Consider how many times a question has been raised of Robert Jordan said something in this book and something different in this book. Ho…

A while ago I read something on these forums to the effect that there must be at least as many women as men in a circle. However, Asmodean says "Do you really think Lanfear really intended me to teach you everything? If she had wanted that, she would have contrived to stay close so she could link us." (TFOH paperback 103) And, later on the same page: "You and I cannot [link]. Not without a woman to join us. You could ask Moiraine, I suppose, or the girl Egwene. One of them might be able to reason out the method." Can men outnumber women in a circle, or was Asmodean lying?

ok, from my understanding the white tower was established soon after the breaking of the world and has survived for 3000 to present randland. my question is how in the hell did the aes sedai forget sooooo many talents? like any form of healing other than the basic field healing they do now and traveling and everything else they seem to have forgotten? how did aes sedai forget so much if they basically established the white tower in the beginning of the 3rd age. i know that the breaking of the world was catastrophic and that the ajah's were formed as groups of women came together then they eventually became the white tower we know today. but these peop…

Ok now i got a interesting question. We know from the first book that Crows/ravens are the DO's eyes. I'm wondering if the title The Prince of Ravens might entail somthing to the effect of darkfeind origin. and What exactly is the Prince of Ravens? Is he like the commander in cheif of the military? or could Mat be next in line to become seanchan emporor after Tuon kicks the bucket?

I thought of something today, that I hope the clever coves around here will be able to shed some light on (if this hasn't been discussed already). There are a few questions, actually, so here goes: 1) Amyrlins are chosen for Life? 2) The different ways they could "vacate" their position: Natural death, accidental death, murdered, deposed ? 3) Depending on what the case is most often, how long would the choosing of a new Amyrlin take? 4) The new Amyrlin would most often not know she is being called to serve until she is summoned by the Hall (unless she is a Sitter who is present at the discussions ?). 5) The Amyrlin chooses her Keeper? 6) If so, how lo…

What information do we have on tracing the weaves of a Gateway, in order to determine where that Gateway sent someone? In other words, has RJ said whether or not it is possible in his books, or interviews, that some channelers have the Talent to read the residue of a Gateway weave and then figure out where the persons went whom used that Gateway? This question has arisen in a WOT roleplaying group I am in, and I am eager to get everyone's opinions and answers from this, with book sources, or interview sources, Please. Thank you. 8)

  10. In the first 3 books, the forsaken were portrayed as exceptionally powerful beings. In TDR, Moiraine says: Thirteen of the most powerful Aes Sedai of the Age of Legends, the weakest of them stronger than the ten strongest Aes Sedai living today, the most ignorant with all the knowledge of the Age of Legends. And every man and woman of them gave up the Light and dedicated their souls to the Shadow. I mean, the forsaken didnt turn out to be all that powerful. I thought it was sort of pathetic that Balthamel died so easily at the end of TEOFW after being imprisoned for 3000 years! After that, Rand knocks them off one by one. While I was still early in the book…

  12. Having read the BWB, it became apparent that the Bore was "open" for nearly a century before LTT and His Companions sealed it. As I read the story, I remember wondering why the DO didn't escape after all this time. Things become more interesting when the BWB claims that at attempt from the Dreadlords to "free" the DO was stopped by LTT's forces. My question is, 1) what held the DO back from breaking out completely? 2) What did the Dreadlords plan on doing to break him out? The implications of these questions seem endless. At TG, will the DO even break out, without Rand and Co intervening? Could they just fight the LB with the Bore wide open and the DO helpless …

Is the Dark One a thread in the Pattern or is he outside of the influence of the Pattern? Because I asked a question of what would happen if Rand balefired the Dark One with the Choedan Kal and they told me that the amount of balefire required to destroy the Dark One would destroy the world. Balefire burns a thread in the Pattern. If the Dark One is not a thread in the Pattern, then how could he be destroyed by it? Please help me, I'm confused...

I've heard of the war of the sexes, but surely that is too mild an expression for the gender relations in the Wheel of Time. I'm rereading the series, and one thing that makes me want to stop reading very often is the constant flood of negative comments towards men spoken by the female characters. If men were an ethnic group, then Lini would be in prison for inciting racial hatred! Is there a word for female chauvinists? Because if there is, then 99% of the women in the series should be called it. Not that the men are much better. Perrins, Mats and Rands comments to themselves that THEY are the only ones who can't understand women, but their friends can.....Aaargh!

I know this has been done to death, but I had a few thoughts I wanted to get out of the way... This is why I think that the one we recognize as Taim is actually Demandred in disguise. I'm not sure exactly how RJ worded his rebuttal, but it was something to the effect of "Taim is not Demandred". Of course not, because Taim was around before Demandred was loosed from SG. However, if Demandred KILLED Taim and REPLACED him, then the character that is established---Taim---need not be the same as Demandred. So RJ would be telling the truth, and yet the one we THINK is Taim is actually NOT the ORIGINAL Taim (who is dead) but is actually Demandred. Reasons I thi…

I searched the posts and couldn't find one like what I would like to see. If there was one please let me know and I apologize from taking someone else's thread. I would like to see your thoughts on the ULTIMATE WOT cast. These people can be anyone living or dead such as Adam/Eve to George Bush to your crazy uncle Mike. They don't have to be in movies, they can be anyone. The only thing you need to do is back them up with something. For instance this part of the book reminded me so much of my best friend. Or this person should be cast as Padan Fain because... If you are talking about a movie star or member of a rock band explain what they were in. For in…

The last poll that I took had all men characters on it, and who would want to be a man? Anyway, thought it would be interesting to see what everyone thought. Just tell me if there is anyone you want me to add, but I can't add everyone ;) My favorite character would have to be Elayne or Egwene. ;D

  20. "Against what do we guard?" "The shadow at noon" This appears above in the Great Hunt, when the Amyrlin Seat visit Agelmar. There has been a lot of controversy about this on other WOT fansites and I thought of posting the idea here as well. Many people link this statement with the prophecy, 'twice dawns the day when his blood is shed, once for mourning, once for birth." Since the double dawning is widely believed to be linked to an eclipse, the 'shadow at noon' is said to support this. However, my viewpoint is this: The noon sun casts no shadows. In the Lord of the Rings, Aragorn tells Frodo that the Nazgul can sense shadows, 'which only the noon sun de…

I have this question that's been bugging me. The Dark One's imprisonment is universal throughout all of the worlds. If he broke out in one, he would break out in them all, destroy the Wheel, and recreate it in shadow. This would, of course, be disastrous. Why then, doesn't the Creator just wave his hand and fix the bore in the Pit of Doom? If I was a gardener, and something threatened to burn my entire garden, I'd do whatever I could to stop it. Since he bound the Dark One at the moment of creation, he could easily fix the prison. Why doesn't he?

I was re-reading TGH and i came accross a very amussing statment in the conversation between Siuan and Moiraine. "Tetsuan and Binwhin were kept in the White Tower as servants. Scullery maids, who could be pointed to as cautions as to what can happen to the mightiest. No one can rally around who must scrub floors and pots all day. Pity her yes, but not rally to her." I just thought that it was funny that Egewne is disproving her as we speak.

So if someone shielded another person, and the gap between them was close enough that the other person could break through if he used an angreal (but not without), and the shielded person had an angreal on him, could he use the angreal to break through the shield, or would an angreal be totally inaccessible while a person is shielded? (same goes for sa'angreal, of course)

Ok, so we all know that when you balefire someone, it's like catching their thread in the Pattern on fire. It's like killing them in the past, so to speak. We also know that the strength of the balefire determines how much of their past is erased. My question then, is: what would happen if you balefired someone who balefired someone? To give an example - let's say when Moiraine used balefire to kill what's-his-face, Ishamael had turned around and balefired the crap out of her. She burned what's-his-face out of the pattern for mere seconds, but was then burned out for let's say hours. Would her balefiring have happened or not?

  27. "REMNANT OF A REMNANT SHALL BE SAVED" That is the Aiel Prophecy regarding the Car'acarn. I think this 'remnant' refers to the Shaido. The shaido are currently returning to the Waste and a new chief for them is also about to be chosen. Therava clearly states that they will NOT live the Waste for a very long time. So, unless the Waste is suddenly raided by a huge host of Trollocs, the Shaido will survive TG. Could this be the remnant? It is a horrible idea. The Shaido are the ones who deserve to die after all the trouble they caused. I just got this thought in passing. I hope it will not end this way but it seems all too likely. And remember: The Shaido have alre…

In LoC ch. 7, A Matter of Thought. It's a PoV of Elayne and the Aes Sedai in the World of Dreams. Anyways at the end of the chapter Elayne goes to Caemlyn to look at the Lion Throne. She notices how Rand put her throne up on a pedestal, etc. Demandred pops out behind the pillars and not only recognizes Elayne but also questions how she feels about Rand in Andor. I have 2 questions about this scene... 1. Demandred leaves TAR like this, "..and opened a gateway to leave tel'aran'rhiod." So i assume that if you weave a gateway to leave TAR then you are there in the flesh. Because if you were just dreaming yourself there you could just wake up and wouldn't need to weave …

What will happen to the hundred thousand people, the former gai'shain, that Perrin gathered in after the Shadio were defeated? Time is running out and TG is perhaps weeks away. There is not enough time to feed, clothe, and help get back home at least a hundred thousand people. Will the people pick up weapons and fight in TG? Rand can easily have every male tested to see if they can learn to channel.
