so I was thinking about the 'remnant of a remnant' thread and it led me to thinking about some other stuff. The Aiel accept Rand as one of them, because Janduin was 100% Aiel and Tigraine was accepted into the Aiel. But the truth is he's only 50% Aiel. However, to the Aiel, he's Aiel, and the Car'a'Carn to boot. Elayne, is 100% wetlander, as far as I'm aware she has absolutely no Aiel blood in her at all. However, she has adopted Aviendha (and been adopted in turn) as a first-sister - will this change the Aiel's perception of her creed? What I'm getting at is will the Aiel accept Elayne's babies as their own blood, or will they see them as the mixed…

This post is about what you think will happen with The Two Rivers. It's kind of obvious that either Perrin, Mat, or Rand is going to raise it.Perrin because, well he is sort of already it's lord, Mat because the Old Blood runs most strong in him, and Rand because he is the plain Dragon Reborn. Anyway, give me your opinions about this subject, and if you like it check out my other posts.

I have been re-readimg KOD and the question of LTT's purpose has me wracking my brains. Why did RJ include a plot line that had the main hero mentally "invaded" by a personality from a past life? I understand the fundamental premonition that LTT has helped Rand numerous times stay alive. He aided Rand enormously at Dumai's Wells, gives him information about the Forsaken, and teaches him weaves that nobody, save the Forsaken, can even dream of. Basically, he evens out the odds for Rand to succeed against the greatest powers the world has ever known. However, what is clear in KOD is that LTT's personality seems to be becoming more active. It's as if this plot line isn…

As i'm rereading the series for the upmteenth time, (as always) i'm finding something a bit new. By new, I mean something that i've never put much thought into, as well as something that i've never seen a post on. Its nothing completely earth-shattering, but its intriguing enough to bring up. Nynaeve has the ability to sense when dangerous things are about to happen. Its in her ability to read the "weather." Or at least that what she thinks she's doing. Rather, she's reading something ominous thats about to happen. Yes, she used to literally be able to read the weather as a Village Wisdom (and still can), however, since the weather has been all screwed up…

I'm on my fifth re-read. Last night I read one of my favorite scenes in the series. Nynaeve, Egwene, and Elayne arrive in Tear hunting for the Black Ajah and they need a place to stay other than an Inn. Nynaeve spots herbs hanging in a window and strikes up a discussion with the herb woman (don't remember her name). They sit for a long time testing each other and trading herb secrets. In the middle of the night, I woke up remembering an episode of "The Beverly Hillbillies" where Granny was dressed up in a white dress with a white apron and a shiny round reflector on her white headband. She was giving a Beverly Hills MD lessons on how to care for sick people (as …

Why did the DO taint Saidin and why at the moment of sealing? Of course he all but destroyed the world by doing it but why did he do it at the moment of sealing? If he had done it before, he could easily have won the war earlier. Also, why only saidin and not saidar? If it because the DO is male? There is no prood of that. Since the creater and the DO balance each other I dont want to think of either of them belonging to a particular gender. Also, the DO could easily do it again, after the cleansing. Why didnt he? Afterall, very few seals now hold. Any ideas?

I'm not sure if I've missed something or just hopeful but I've got this weird feeling that Rand won't die at the end of the series. Yes yes the Prophecies say that his blood must be shed on the slopes of Shayol Ghul to save the world, but it seems to me like everyone just assumes that means he's going to die. It never mentions how much blood shall be shed, for all we know it could be just a drop. I don't think I've ever read somewhere where the Prophecies definitively say he's going to die. Min's viewings say that she saw 3 women at his funeral bier, but says nothing about if they are young or old. Her viewings also say that Aviendha is supposed to have four kids with …

Is there any reason why a channeler couldn't simply pick up everything in the room, including the kitchen sink, and used it to simply beat the hell out of a Gholam. They may be fast but I was thinking about how fast Rand is able to manipulate things using the power. In TSR, he actually weaves cloth using threads from the melted stag and wolves. That shows pretty good dexterity with the Power. If he were to pick up, oh, say a dozen swords, I'd think not even the Gholam would be able to survive being put through a threshing machine like that. Sliced to bits (think of a paper shredder) is a little bit more damaging than Mat's knife in it's ribs.

This is actually based on a comment by trakand 01 in another thread. How do you think a confrontation between Egwene and Cadsuane will play out in AMoL? (I'm still working on my impressions.)

So my question is - how do you imagine a Jumara? Like a kind of huge, well, worm? Will packs of them rove south in the days of the Last Battle, burrowing under cities and lacerating the Light's armies?

It seems to me that out of all the forsakens, Graendal has been the only one that hasn't blundered or has been reduced in pride. when she fought against verin in Winter's Heart she was really careful to shield herself and invert her weaves...I think she will prove a formidable opponent to Rand, whats ur take on it?

Female Aes Sedai have had control of the show for around 3000 years. Will they be happy to have men to channel with again? Some have already done it recently (during the cleansing) and they're still alive. Legend has it that during the Age of Legends some of the greatest Aes Sedai work was done with men and women working together. If the male half is really clean and can be trusted then maybe they can start to reverse the affect that has culled the ability out of the human race. Maybe the Ashamen pairing off with bonded female Aes Sedai will help this along? Some women will be skeptical thinking that they are being tricked into dropping their defenses (especially th…

I don't know if this has been done before so I thought I'd start this topic. There's been plenty of threads on a movie and/or casting but what about the soundtrack? I came across this song today and it reminded me of Rand and everything he's going through. There's even a part that describes seizing and channeling saidin. I'm interested to see what the rest of you have to add. ;D

I've not seen a complete map of the world, but from what I understand it's pretty much Randland (w/ Shara somewhere to the east and Seanchen. It seems like a really small planet w/ not a lot of land, 2 continents. What is the scale? What is Randland comprable to in size? Why not more about the mysterious Shara, or will that figure into AMoL?

I am reading book 10 and after many weeks of slow-going (I mean, how fast can you read Perrin?) I'm finally making progress. I was reading I think chapter 8 or 9, it was Perrin, and it was the morning that they found the Darkhound prints, Berelain revealed the letter she'd had stolen from Masema's tent (Suroth's protection letter), and Masema and his men had ridden out to meet them in the woods. In Perrin's POV we hear that Masema was completely changed from the man that he was when Perrin first met him in the borderlands, and that Masema himself claimed that man was dead and gone, that he was reborn as the Prophet of the Dragon, no longer 'Masema'. Con…

So now every copuple of days I check Brandon Sanderson's website for an update on the progress of the first draft for AMoL. Last week it was at 5%. Today it is at 6%. So...if a 1% change takes place over 3 days, with 94% remaining the rough draft should be done in January of 2009. Unimportant - It's done when it's done. According to his blog, he's using a wordcount of 400K the progress bar. There are two general typesets Tor uses, depending on the length of the manuscript. Longest - Lord of Chaos 699 pages 1/8th inch type, 5/8th inch bottom margin and 7/8th inch top margin average of 75 characters per line average of 48 lines per page an…

I've been re-reading LoC recently, and it occurred to me I have no good explanation for who sent the Grey Man in LoC, Letters. I would instantly say Graendal, but that may not be a trustworthy instinct here. After all: Suddenly Rand Travelled to Caemlyn without warning. He went from the throne room to his chambers, and Aviendha came out with a knife. Nearly at the same time LTT felt the Grey Man approach. Then Harfor came and there was discussion, in the midst of which the Grey Man entered and Rand managed to trap him-- At the same time Taim killed him. To me it almost seems there was no other purpose to Taim than to secure that the Grey Man did not talk-- I …

I was wondering if RJ ever addessed the change made between books 4 and 5. At the end of book 4 when Rand and Asmo went back to Alcardal, Avendesora was completly fine except one broken branch. But in book 5, chapter 2 it says the tree was burnt with blackened bark but alive. So when did this revision happen as was a revised version of book 4 ever put out? In my mind dreaming and all its related stuff is one of the most fascinating parts of WOT. e.g. I believe that the Ter'angreals for being raised to accepted takes the person to step through into some form of Tel'aran'rhiod. Same with portal stones, same with Rands skimming. Basically I believe that a lot of the "trippy" stuff in WOT is related to TAR. One thing I have wondered about though is if dreaming is something that can be learned by someone without any special talent in the area? It seems to me as if all the forsaken can use Tel'aran'rhiod, and its unlikely that all 13 of them were born with the talent to dream. I see that we mostly see them entering Tel…
