Recently in his blog Brandon Sanderson discussed RJ's comment about AMOL being a 1500 page monster and that he would complete it in one volume even if Tor had to invent a new form of binding and it has to come with its own libray cart. He stated that based on the notes, outlines etc that RJ left behind that nothing of the sort would be necessary and that RJ probably just said all that to emphasize his commitment to finishing the series in one more volume (and it fits with everything else I've heard about RJ's sense of humor). He went on to say that AMOL would probably be neither the longest nor the shortest book in the series. So why is this a good thing? Well I found…

I recently re-read the series, and I think I figured out how Matt is going to escape the Aelfinn and Elfinn from knowing that he is coming; the iron dagger from Elayne. He has to pass through Camelyn to get to Whitebridge, then he heads north from there (I believe). It would stand to reason that he will meet with Elayne before going. If the dagger does prevent him from being seen by the Elfinn/Aelfinn, he will be able to carry iron into their world without them knowing. Just my thoughts on the matter.

I found this image of Robert Jordan on Tor's author page on him. Anyone else think he based Mat's hat off of this? xD

She left the Rebals long after Traveling was discovered (I think) and she was caught snooping in the traveling tents more than once. Surely she saw the weave at least once and she is a quick learner. Why didn't she teach the WT AS the weave? Surely she would have - to "Make points" so she could progress faster! I guess the only answer is that she tried to get it but failed? As sloppy as the Rebel camp was - I find it hard to believe, but that is the only thing that makes sense.

What do you make of this? While Lady Deira is being stitched up after the attack in their tent(CoT, Prologue), an attack virtually twin to the one against Dobraine in Cairhien, Bashere says to Tamud, "You know where to find the man who came to me yesterday? Find him and tell him I agree, but there will be a few more than we talked about." Anyone haev any idea what is going on there? I just can't believe he is a Dark Friend. None of his POV's have even a glimmer of betrayal, until this. Unless, that is, he was buying her something pretty and her close brush with death made him decide to double the order.

On a scale of 1-100, where would Aram stand in skill amongst the characters? Let's say that Lan (obviously the best swordsman alive) is 100, where would Aram have stood? Lan has come out of battles with marks and cuts, but in the battle at dumai's wells (sp?) it was mentioned that after battling against the Aiel, he was untouched even though Perrin and Loial had suffered wounds. This really stood out knowing the skill of the Aiel. Might as well list the others: Rand, Gawayn, Galad... other notables. Obviously not Mat since he uses a different (and superior IMO) weapon.

On a re-reread of TDR. Nynaeve, Egwene and Elayne are captured by brigands and are being held captive until the brigands figure out what to do with their 3 captured Aes Sedai (they didn't know they were Aes Sedai before capturing them if I'm not mistaken)... Anyway, one mentions that you 'can get a good price for an Aes Sedai if you have the stomach to deal with that sort'. Then 3 Myrdraal show up. I know that the Myrdraal were hunting these 3 ladies anyway (although I'd be glad if somebody could tell me exactly why), but it seems as thogh the brigands knew that captured Aes Sedai can be sold to Myrdrall... Is this common knowledge amoungst cer…

I have long wondered on the subject. Now that I am re-reading shadow rising...I find myself wondering why RJ hasn't bothered to give any info regarding her family.Except her sister. It may be so that this has nothing to do with the main plot....but when it comes to a character like Aviendha, a couple of line regarding her parents would have been nice. I wonder if RJ ever commented on that, I am sure some one has already asked the question long ago. By the way, I just finished Elantris and Mistborn.......All I have to say is AMOL is in good hand. Apart from RJ it couldn't have fallen in better hand than Sanderson. I thank Harriet with all my heart for …

I know Mr. Jordan had planned to write books after the Last Battle. Since his passing, are there plans to let other up-and-coming/present authors continue the WoT world? I know Mr. Jordan had a lot of success writing for the Conan saga; has anything come about in reguards to letting this same opportunity for the WoT world? I would love for this facinating world and characters to continue.

I don't think I've posted this here before, but if I did I've improved it since then. I took the map of the Compact of the Ten Nations that has been floating around the net and improved it. The original is based on the one in the guide and is missing some obvious cites and has a glaring border mistake. I've added in five cities that the text tells us where they are. Mafal Dadaranell the capital of Aramaelle where Fal Dara now stands. Braem, which is where New Braem is now, north of Caemlyn. Manetheren, capital of the nation by the same name, west of the Two Rivers in the Mountains of Mist. Tear which is at the mouth of the Erin delta. And Londaren Cor, the capi…

We know that the Ogier between the Dragonwall and the Aryth Ocean developed the longing for the Stedding during the breaking and cannot remain outside the Stedding for more that a few years. Loial has been outside for five years, with two visits, one to an abandoned Stedding and one to Stedding Tsofu---where he meets Erith---but his mother and Elder Haman are pretty insistent that he has been out too long, and must return to Stedding Shangtai. Nothing has been said so far, however, about the Ogier from Seachan. Do they have the longing also? Perhaps we will find out in AMOL. It would be interesting if Hartha or one of the others got to go to the Great Stump. I suspec…

Bare with me on this one people, I havent read the first four books in ages. If I remember rightly, when Mat blew the Horn and the Heroes came, Rand was fighting someone (was it Ishamael?) and as Rand fought he could almost see/feel the Heroes fighting, and as he was forced to defend or pressed an attack so did the Heroes, it was as if Rands fight dictated the Heroes, like if Rand pressed an attack the Heroes did and if Rand was pressed in the fightbso were the Heroes. Did anyone else see that to be the case? If so, does anyone else think that was odd, seeing as it wasn't Rand who blew the Horn? I would have thought that if anyone had that effect on the Heroes …

Since he comes back to life, it seems that Moridin is now playing an elaborate game targeting Tarmon Gaidon. He saves Rand's life and tells him that his death would destroy "plans" already in motion. Then in Path of Daggers, he mentions Sha'ra and the Fisher. But what I find most interesting is how to win Sha'ra. He states that one could get hold of the fisher by forcing him to move into your colored square. To show that this is the tactic Moridin favors, RJ has Moridin describe the THIRD way to win as a failure, something he won't try again. So we know Moridin will NOT be direct in dealing with Rand anymore. So what is he doing then? At the end of the prologue in Po…

It struck me yesterday that the whole world could be doomed if Alanna died. We know that Warders don't always die when their Aes Sedai do, but even if Rand survived Alanna dying, it wouldn't do him any good. The shock of it would at least make him let go of Saidin, which would be fatal if he was facing one of the Forsaken. If I was Rand I'd keep her locked in a padded room and wrapped in cotton wool. Could Alanna prove to be his Achilies(sp) heel when the Last Battle comes? Or would his three "wives" being bonded to him buffer him against her death?

I have spent some time in my most recent reread of the WoT trying to piece together the clues surrounding the Dark One's overall plan. I realize that I am trying to play Steven Hawking, but I want to see if the clues in the books so far can be pulled together to ascertain what the Dark One is planning to do. NB: This post will probably be more questions than answers, I'm looking for the collective wisdom of the WoT fan community to come up with the answers and save me all the work. NB: I should also note that in my current reread I am in LoC, so my recollections of the first five and a half books will be fresher than those from LoC-KoD. At the beginning …

I remembered once that Moghedien spent several days in a vacuole or something like that where time stopped or passed slowly. what if, as Lanfear and her partner was drilling the bore, another researcher working close by in a vacuole was blown off into the pattern after the blast from the bore and just floated in the space until suddenly she gets reattached in the pattern and comes back to aid rand with her knowledge? is that a good theory or what?!?

So all along I swear I was under the impression that Rand was taller than Lan, but Lan was broader shouldered and thicker - I swear I read that somewhere in the earlier books.. I am pretty sure in the first book (but I cannot find book 1 - I might have loaned it out). BUT I was reading CoT, and in chapter 23 Cadsuane describes Rand like so; ". . .almost as tall and broad-shouldered as Lan. . ." If what I was originally thinking (hopefully someone will correct me if I am wrong) could this just be Cadsuane's opinion?

... if the body that 'Cyndane' is in might not be Moiraine's? Size matches. Reduction in strength in OP fits. After all, they don't maintain a stockpile of channeler bodies at SG just in case one of the "Chosen" is silly enough to get him or herself offed. We know from her letter that Moiraine's soul is still alive, but that doesn't mean that her soul is still in her body. Wanna bet that Ba'alzamon wasn't the only Forsaken to know the "pull the soul from the body" trick. Would fit with the burst of light and heat having damaged Lanfear's body too badly to survive. It also fits with one of Egwene's "Dreams". Discuss.

So, in KoD Mat has started equipping his soldiers with grenades, and is working on the cannon. Does anyone think he will invent the musket/rifle in time for Tarmon Gai'don? What kind of effectiveness will his firearms have on the rest of the world, particularly the Seanchan, who use channelers extenseively in battle? What will Rand do when he find out about the firearms? (ie equip the Legion with them, or just ignore them) How will other factions react to the knowledge of firearms? What will the Forsaken think of Mat's innovations? What does this mean for the future of channelers in battle? Opinions are welcome, but lets try not to let this t…

So, given the recent reflux of Taim theories i figured someone should put down the Third Age--New Chosen theory. Essentially it states that Taim was born a Third Age man, was trained by Ishamael before being sent out to train other darkfriends in preparation for Tarmon Gai'don. It then goes on to suggest that in light of his success he has been raised full Chosen by Shaidar Haren--possibly with or without Moridin's knowledge. I will try to go through this as methodically as possible because it touches on a number of seperate points, so please bear with me as i struggle. Lol. The Origins of Mazrim Taim Ok, ignoring the suggestions that he is Be'lal or Moridin--I'…

Two things about gholams 1. Can true power weaves hit them? 2. Just a thought, can gholams be killed by walking through a gateway? We know shadowspan is killed when they walk through gateways, but do they also effect gholams or is the weave destroyed?

I'm churning through CoT (always a tough read for me, not sure why, maybe becasue nothing really gets resolved) listening to Smashing Pumpkins "Gish" and I'm wondering about what will happen between Faile and Berelain now that Perrin has regained his wife. My first though was that I hope Galad like 'em exotic because Faile will make good on her promise to shave Berelain's head. Berelain fostered the rumor that she and Perrin had been intimate the very night Faile was taken. I doubt she will be pleased. If Faile decides on this course of action, no will be able to stop her, with the possible exception of Perrin if he catches her in time. Berelain may know so…

The Dark One has never won, ever. The Light always prevails. How many times has the wheel turned, and how many more times will it turn? The only constant throughout all those long ages is that the DO is imprisoned. He gets close to breaking out every once in a while, but the Wheel, the pattern itself, twists and spins reality so that just the right people do just the right things so that the DO remains trapped. Is this just a happy coincidence or the nature of things? It shouldn't be just a coincidence - first, coincidence is chance, which the wheel uses as a primary tool for imprisoning the DO. If the wheel wasn't actively working to keep the DO imprisoned by …

As I'm sure you are all aware there were more that just 13 Forsaken (Chosen) in the AOL. 13 of those Chosen becacme sealed in the DO's prison. So has anybody ever thought about why exactlly 13 Forsaken happend to be as Shayol Ghul when LTT led his 100 companiouns there. Is it a mere coincidence that this is the exact number of channelers that would be necessary to forcably turn a channeler to The Shadow? Or could it be that they had set a trap for LTT and were planning to turn him forceablly? That is to say did they purpously allow LTT to reach SG in hopes of capturing him there. If this is the case then 13 Fades would also be necessary as well. Could it be that S…

Hi guys, Several times we've mentioned that the artwork on the Galleries by Lord_of_Chaos_Jr is really, really good. Well, he's met his allowance for uploads on the Dragonmount.com galleries, so has had to stop uploading. However, if you go look at seamassketches.blogspot.com and scroll down until you find them, he's continued to upload there. There's everything from our gallery, plus Logain and Lanfear. Turns out, Eva Longoria IS Lanfear! Take a look, they're great works of art.
