Just a thought I had from my last re read... Would a Warder know if his Aes Sedai hs been captured as a damane? I wonder about Elyas and Ryma. He is still bonded to her, would he not feel something different about her? Or maybe the bond doesn't reach that far? Wouldn't he feel her extreme fear when the a'dam is put on her? I don't know...hopefully someone can help me wrap my mind around this!

Some people get all the luck, dont they? We all know someone who always lands on their feet, always comes out with the best from any situation. Is this just down to pure 'luck', as we tend to imagine, or to their money if they have a fortune, or could they be something like a ta'veren? Is it possible that certain people in this world have the unconscious ability to... influence events, without even trying? To be truly influential people, or seem to have 'the knack' for something or other...

Why, at one of the earlier Forsaken gatherings, did she make it seem like it was absolutely impossible to gain access to the angreal, sa'angreal and ter'angreal stored in the Tower? We've seen numerous examples of Aes Sedai taking objects from the storerooms when they weren't supposed to (ie Pevara with the Oath Rod) without anyone immediately suspecting anything. Furthermore, Fain was able to waltz in and take the dagger without much trouble. Sure, Alviarin covered for him, but she would certainly do the same for Mesaana. Was Mesaana edging on the side of caution with that statement, or is she just holding out on the other Forsaken?

As far as I know, the only constants in all seven Ages are the Dark One, the Creator, and the Dragon. I was wondering if the Forsaken (or maybe just really powerful Dreadlords) were also a constant in all seven Ages rather than just the Third. The Forsaken in the Third Age were some of the most powerful men and women from the Second Age, but I was wondering if the Dark One reuses the same souls every Age, or if he will find somebody to replace (for example) Be'lal, Rahvin, or Asmodean in the Fourth Age. For that matter, if any of the Forsaken manage not to get balefired before or during Tarmon Gaidon, will they remain Forsaken in the Fourth Age too, or will they…

OK I'm reading CoS, and they've just got the Bowl, which means that they've just been in the building in the Rahad. So to start, Faolain and Ispan showed up, with their street-toughs. Fair enough, they knew there was a cache somewhere, stands to reason someone would have managed to track it / the group down by now. But whilst they're fighting them downstairs, Elayne and her Kin are attacked by a Gholam upstairs. To what we understand, the Gholam has nothing to do with the BA sisters downstairs - presumably Sammael sent it but how did he know about the cache (he doesnt know where Moghedian is) and how coincidental is it that they all showed up at the same time!…

Please forgive me if i'm mis-understanding here, but the basic facts behind the entire series here is that the DO is breaking loose, yes? The seals that hold the bore closed are weakening / breaking, and he's breaking through from inside. Already his Forsaken are loose on the world and his influence is spreading once more. So... cant they just re-seal the bore, again? Lanfear was a scientist (technically this is all her fault) and it was she and her team who drilled through and created the 'Bore' in the first place - surely if she can be turned (perhaps Rand could persuade her if he could bring himself to do it) she would know a way of blocking the bore back up again…

You can pick up to three (if Rand can have 3, so can I). I've put some women on there too because not everything in this world is black and white!! Also no-one ever said we were all heterosexual. You have to give your reasons, too ;) Me? Rand - just because. Shoulders, responsibility, everything else. Mat - cheeky but caring. Would definitely look after you, but show you a good time. Lan - strong and dutiful.... and experienced.

first off sry for butchiering the guys name but i have a crazy theory as some of you know RJ has said that the dragon has more purposes than simply fighitng the dark one. so i was wondering could it be possible that the dragons purpose as Guearah amesiaon was to provide the catalyist for the rise of Hawkwings empire, and also they do call him the Second Dragon instead of just a false dragon... any thoughts on this

One thing that Egwene quickly learns as a dreamwalker is that if she focuses on what she thinks that she "Needs," she will be brought to that object in TAR. We see enough of this throughout the series to know how well this works. We also know that as strong of a dreamwalker as she has become, the Wise Ones know a lot more than she does. Additionally, we know that Forsaken such as Ishy, Lanfear and Moghedian know a TON more than anyone alive right now. Even the weakest of the Forsaken seem to know their way enough around TAR to know what they're doing. All of that being said, here is my question that i'd like to pose for discussion: With all of the power-…

  11. So we know that each of the Ajahs have their own purpose, for example Browns are knowledge-seekers, Greys are negotiators, Yellows are healers, and Greens are the Battle Ajah, but what purpose will they all serve at TG, or will they not? The Greens are pretty obvious, and the Yellows also but what of the others? Without a doubt the work of the Browns and Whites will aid the Light in their battle, but what of the individual Aes Sedai of these Ajahs themselves? We have seen that they WILL fight (Dumai's Wells), purposefully inciting an attack on themselves which would allow them to retaliate and thus get around the related Oath, but would the Browns, say, really have a…

Does anyone wonder why LTT wants to break the Seals? I think it's more than madness he is plenty crazy, but he has a very strong desire to stick it to the Dark One and the rest of the Forsaken. He is more vocal about killing the Forsaken, but that's mostly because most of them betrayed him at one point or another. I think he knows something about the Seals that we have not been told yet. I think that is what Fel's note is about "have to clear the rubble to rebuild," I think the Seals are preventing the Bore from repairing itself. Also I think the Shadow knows this that is why they tried to kill Dobraine and Bashere they are the most likely men to be the real "Watchers…

Where is he? I was sure he was in the Tower, and I kept waiting for Egwene to run into him in KoD. But she never did. Maybe I missed something. Maybe we know where he is. Or maybe he is hanging out somewhere in limbo playing poker with a couple of trollocs. Does anyone know?

  15. So think back to the Great Hunt...Hurin's a sniffer, they're hunting for the horn, and he has the ability to smell evil: darkfriends, crimes, creatures of the DO...and the only things that smell worse than Trollocs and Myrds are darkfriends....really bad darkfriends. Fain for example smelled so foul that he almost couldn't stand it. All of that being said, I can't seem to figure out why he wasn't able to smell any foul odors eminating from Selene. It just doesn't make sense. They were with her for days on end, and yet no foul odor. Does anyone have any theories on this? Its not possible that Lanfear has been "crime free" and I find it unlikely that she somehow knew …

Well, in two days is Día de los muertos (day of the dead) that is gonna be celbrated in mexico. in school i saw a video on it in spanish, and some guy said something intersting. he said something like this (in spanish) "We mexicans don't fear death- we welcome it" Thats not exactly what he said, but it is close enough. Now, the Aiel also "welcome death". that got me thinking... what if the aiel are redhaired mexicans!?! feel free to agree. ;)

I read a scene the other day and thought "I want that as my signature" - a Mat quote but i can only remember half of it now and dont have the book with me. He's sat outside the house the Kin are using, with his men and its just before he follows the woman who leads him to the cache of ter'angreal. Someone (I think it's Nalesean) says "What are we doing here again?" and Mat says something along the lines of "You're drinking bad ale and sweating like a pig, I'm being ta'veren" I thought it was a class line, but i cant remember the exact quote? I'm certain about the 'I'm being ta'veren' bit, but not about what Nalesean says to him? I also found Tylin's c…

In ACoS Swovan Night as Mat recognizes Birgitte he flashes back to blowing the Horn and seeing the Heroes. He lists a few of them. One of them is Shivan the Hunter who is said to herald the end of Ages, the destruction of what was and the birth of what was to come. Is this just legend that has grown around this Hero or is he the actual herald of the end of Ages? Birgitte complained that she was just a woman with a talent for the bow, and yet people would expect her to do incredible things becaues she is a Hero.

Hi there, First of all, this is my first post here, i have been a Robert Jordan fan for several years now, i believe when i got the first book i was no older than 12, and have read them as much as five times since, every time a new book is released, i feel the need to re-read all previous books. I have recently heard of the unforunate incident which has befallen Robert Jordan's family, and, as many have before me, wish my condolences. I have never kept up with much about Robert Jordan on the internet, and now, that the time is too late, i wish that i had. I'm merely wondering what is happening in regards to The Twelth Book? I have looked around on the int…

  22. Started by Saidar,

I've been surfing on the net and I've found some thing I didn't like. I've read some articles about AMOL. It all came to these two things: 1. AMOL will never be released. 2. AMOL will be released in 2009. Which one is true? I've been rereading the whole serie just to be sure I'd understand everything and then I see this... If someone could tell me this, you'd really do me a favour. Thx PS: I can't give you the links because I can't find them... Sorry.

  23. I am probably going to butcher spellings, but I don’t feel like referencing my names, etc. A friend of mine and I were talking about who killed Asmodean. We may have a new, workable theory. He think Moraine is the most likely to have a motive (knowing who Asmo was, etc.). So, we started thinking. We know that Moraine had already leapt through the doorframe with Lanfear before Asmo disappeared. What if Moraine instructed someone powerful, that she could trust, to kill Asmo (Lan). After all, you would have to prepare the assassin, and you just can’t tell anyone that Asmo is a forsaken. We know Asmo is a forsaken (powerful), but Lanfear had weakened his channelin…

We don't know why, but I have 3 theories: 1) If the Seals work by stopping time locally (and by the description of what happens to the Forsaken this is a possibility), then the Bore and rest of the world are 3000 years apart, and the temporal strain causes the weakening. 2) Rand himself is causing it somehow. The seals becoming brittle or breaking always appears to coincide with him doing some major fighting with the Power--maybe because of him being LTT reborn the Taint connecting the two huge ta'veren (one in the realm of the deadd and one living) into a single person. 3) Some combination of 1) and 2). What are your ideas?

  25. Just got my new copy of EoTW (my old one broke...damn spine)....and during the re-read I thought about the coins Moraine gives the 3 lads to keep track of them. In KOD, Elayne uses the "finder" weave, which she placed on Hark when he was watching Daved Hanlon for her. In KOD(don't have my books w/me), it states the finder can be attached to metal forever, and onto clothes for a few days. Was this "finder weave" one of the new weaves learned from the Forsaken? Or was it possible that Moraine didn't know this weave, and had to rely on the coins in EoTW? Any thoughts??

OK, this is a question i havent asked before because i'm too embarrassed to admit i dont understand!! What are the differences between Ter'Angreal, Sa'Angreal and pure Angreal, and are there more types? What are the Choeden Kal / the TAR ring / Rand's little fat man?

I dont think there's a thread for this already. Does anyone else think Mat would be mortified if he realised that actually he's a pretty nice guy? He's portrayed (to me) as the selfish one of the three lads, the one who prefers a bit of fun and a lot of coin to responsibility and duty. He spends all his time huffing and puffing and complaining at having to get Nynaeve and Elayne out of scrapes but underneath it all... he does it not only because he's told to look after them by Rand, but because that's just how he is. I think it is heightened after he 'adopts' Olver, but he looks out for them in a brotherly way, rather than an 'annoyed person appointed to look …

hi Guys, Sorry for the increased posts, i'm on my 4th re-read of books 1-7, 3rd of 8-9 and 2nd of 10 (I've never read 11) and am coming to the end of book 7 - before i go on to the ones i'm less familiar with, I want to nail everything i'm not certain on first to save confusion later in the books when the plots get a bit hectic. I have a confused mental image of the throne rooms in the 2 palaces - Caemlyn and Cairhein. I think the confusion comes from the fact that he goes between one and the other so regularly, i cant get a full mental image of one of them clearly. I have two images to be specific (quite apt) but i cant put one to Caemlyn and one to Cai…

I'm only up to CoS this re-read so please bear with me if this is resolved in book 11, which i've never read. When Siuan and Leane were stilled, is it correct that they were released from the hold of the Three Oaths? If they take the Three Oaths again... will they be able to maintain their ruse of animosity towards each other? Can you lie through behaviour (pretending to hate each other)? If they make friends in the latter 2 books please forgive my ignorance.
