  1. Started by Machin Shin,

The Forsaken are a quarrelsome bunch; always scheming and competing for the title of Nae'blis. We know the Dark Lord is a busy being. The destruction of the Wheel and the unravelling of the very fabric of reality, afterall, is no one man job. Therefore I have decided to help the big guy carry the burden. If the Forsaken were placed in a league, who and based on what attributes and achievements, would be the frontrunners for the top spot and who would languish at the bottom of the heap wallowing in their own self-loathing? Obviously some of the contenders have been balefired out of existence. So for the purposes of this question we must assume that they are all ali…

I dont know how many of you read RJ's Blog, but I cant tell you how excited I was to see him mention taking ballroom dancing lessons if he were well enough! I am a ballroom dancer. I have been taking lessons for almost 2 and a half years. It is absolutely the most wonderful, fun, and greatest thing I have ever done for myself. I would recommend it to anyone. I lost 40 pounds, I met tons of interesting people, and dancing is fun! Plus, ballroom dancing (the real thing and not like RJ said the stuff of Dancing with the Stars) is all about communication, connecting with your partner and understanding what he wants you to do. It is amazing. This may not be the righ…

Here's a thought. When our three main boys think of each other they can see each other in the midst of all these swirling colors. If they could figure out what this was exactly could it be a way to communicate with each other across great distances? If so, would this not be a great help as we approach TG? They always fight it and shake it off when it happens, but what would happen if they didnt?

  4. Looks like i'm challenging conventional wisdom again already so I'd best get my flameproof suit out. I'm not sure this is 100% correct. When Rand saw Logain in EotW he was completely bonkers. Proper mad with no holds barred. Then once he was gentled he was pretty much normal again, if a touch depressed. Hence the name "gentling". At no point since then has he shown signs of being that mad. Even once he was Healed. Now I agree with the idea that when Rand cleansed the source it didn't return all the men to normal. Whatever level of madness they had reached at that time is where they remained. But this is different from the effects of gentling which is clearly (…

That Robert Jorden only ment to have the first book. I think that the ending kinda put it as one book But he does have a lot of details. i really dont know.

  7. Started by Nevare,

here's a question I hope 'A Memory of Light' will answer: In The Great hunt Min talks about seeing a severed hand in an aura above Elayne and she tells Elayne it isn't hers. Earlier in tEotW Min sees a severed hand having to do with Rand. And of course in KoD Rand gets his hand sliced off. So my question is this- are they all the same hand?

  8. I'm not sure what kind of response this will get, but here goes. My brother recently began reading the series through for the first time. Tonight, he just finished the Fires of Heaven. I thought this would be a good oppportunity to conduct an experiment with an uncontaminated subject. Since, according to Jordan, the identity of Asmodean's murderer should be "intuitively obvious", and also, apparent from only information contained up to and through The Fires of Heaven, I asked him, point blank, "Who do you think killed Asmodean?" He said, right away, "Probably Graendal." He's never been to these or any other WoT boards, and he hasn't read ahead (he's reading…

Hey all Yes, I am referring to the entire series. Should it end? Do we need a final book? I was thinking not some long time ago that I would probably fall into a multi-year funk were Jordan not to finish the series. As time has gone by, however, and people keep posting, debating, analysing, and flaming, and I keep reading, posting, debating, analysing and refraining from flaming, I have come to the conclusion that few will accept the end Jordan might furnish. Now, I know he's a clever guy, and a not so bad writer, but I don't think Jordan can achieve a complete finale in one book. I don't know that I would like to read two or three more books of wrap up in…

Do you think that it is possible that Sammuel and Taim switched positions? All throughout the books Sammuel seemed dead set on the fact that he would be at Tarmon Gaidan against Rand. It would seem logical that to do so, he would not have to bother Rand or his plans. That doesn't fit well with the fact that he was out in the open in Illian for such a long time. Here are a few things that lead me to my thought process: Taim is very much like Sammuel (from what we know about his relationship with LTT). Taim, when Dashiva was chosen to go along with Rand, seemed taken back. It seemed to me that he knew who Dashiva was. Granted, he could have been taking orde…

Well before I start explaining why I think that the WOT is highly based on religion aspects of life, I will try to quickly summarize my beliefs. It all reverts back to sexuality, I mean, mentally, physically, everything is eventually returned to the perfect simpleness of the basis of life. Its understanding identity through conception of origin as perceived through others around us, helping us see for ourselves, our way into the egg, the cocoon of all glory. Females show us the way into god, and we reinforce them with life. We're selfish, snakeish sperm head egos...who have to simply come alive by realizing our own conception, which happens through finding nature in femal…

It would be utter genius if loial turned out to be a darkfriend. He could end up killing someone really close to rand e.g. min, elayne or avienda. Or pretty much anyone of his choosing, considering no one would ever suspect him. Imagine the if hed been biding his time, just waiting for the most devastating moment to pounce.

Has anyone ever thought that there should be a World of War Craft type role playing game? The possibilities would be endless and Blizzard have shown a great example of the quality of game they can produce. What Wheel of Time fan has never thought about and dreamed of being able to wander around in Randland, discovering sa'angreal, fighting against warders, being in control of a Seachan damane. If there is anyone out there that knows the legal situation on other Wheel of Time games being made, and also anyone with influence that could see my dream and I believe many others dream become reality, please comment here and lets try and get the ball rolling. Thank you …

http://www.forbes.com/2006/11/30/robert-jordan-illness-tech-media_cx_hc_books06_1201jordan.html Here is an important quote: "Still, he can write for two hours a day at most, compared with eight or nine hours in healthier times. At this rate, he'll submit the final book in 2008 for publication in 2009, says Tom Doherty, president of Tor Books, Jordan's publisher. If he gets better, he'll write faster. No one wants to talk about the alternative. If he dies, could someone else finish the series? Authors like V.C. Andrews and Mario Puzo have posthumously passed along their series to other writers. Still, some fans worry that another author, even Harriet, wouldn't…

Just finished reading chapter 35 of TEotW again, and was reacquainted with Thom's history with Morgase. So my question is this: Was it mentioned in any of the later books what EXACTLY did Thom said to her that made her so freakin' mad? Not that I can't imagine what he said, but if I can look it up, that would be cool, too.

There are distinct differences of swords in every culture: katana, dao, scimitar, long sword, broadsword, bastard sword, roman short swords, etc. What about Randland? Does Callandor have a curve or is it a straight forward piece of metal from Europe? Does it have a hand guard? a wheel pommel or point? Ideas or opinions

  17. We rode on the winds of the rising storm, We ran to the sounds of the thunder. We danced among the lightning bolts, and tore the world asunder. Maybe I'm clutching at straws and reading far too far into this, but I thought maybe this could be applicable to the three ta'veren.. Consider that the Seanchan are often referred to as the storm, the gathering storm. And now Mat has his link to them. This is the most tenuous one; the thunder could be um, Perrin striking his hammer at the forge.. (Can anyone think of anything more relevant for that?) Rand of course has shown himself very adept at throwing lightning around, right from the start when he accidenta…

I may totally be making something out of nothing but I noticed something thats annoying me and I wondered if anyone could just put this straight for me! Well I'm rereading tSR and I noticed something in this bit of prophercy: "Into the heart he thrusts his sword, into the heart, to hold their hearts. who draws it out shall follow after, What hand can grasp that fearful blade?" Well am I correct in saying Narishma was the next person to draw Callandor out? When Rand sends him in secrecy to collect it for the battle with the Seanchan? Does that mean he's got a place in the prophercy's of the dragon, which would obviously mean he's got some important part in the…

  19. ...Atha'an Miere role in the last book. Ok I love the Atha'an Miere - they are just great people but I am wondering about some lose ends. 1. Talaan the apprentice who ran away with Merilille, will she (they) have a role to play, will we see them again, any connection to bringing down Elida or anything else that will happen in the tower soon, or will they join the rebels? 2. Then what role have they to play in general - it can't be just providing food and stuff along the cost, they are powerful channeler, crafty seaman, and strong headed people, they had a prophesy about Rand... 3.last why are they acquiring all that land in Andor and else where?

Here is the topic: Imagine that Red Eagle Productions has accquired the backing of a rich "Silent Partner" who disires in return nothing but his proper share of the gross. A Big Name director with a resume similar to Peter Jackson's has been selected to direct a live action version of the Wheel of Time series as a group of movies(Say, Sam Raimi, for the sake of arguement). Robert Jordan has personally grilled him on what he plans to do and has signed off on him as well. The cast is a mix of unknowns and relative unknowns in the big roles (The Emond's Field group, among others) and big name stars in supporting roles (Cate Blanchet as Morgase, Jo Anderson as Siuan S…

Alright, I'm probably forgetting something stupidly simple here, but I can't put my finger on it, so if you could... In The Shadow Rising (sorry, too tired now to search the page, I will a bit later) Lanfear says to Rand, while in his rooms in the Stone of Tear, something along the lines of, '(looking at Callandor) There are only two stronger a man can use'...I believe the Choedan Kal is/are the strongest, so what is the other sa'angreal Lanfear was refering to that a man can use? Or was it simply a typo refering to both the male and the female parts of the Choedan Kal? I've read all the way through the series of a few times, but I forget things all the time, so maybe…

I'm a firm believer that Rand will spend time as a begger. I have many wacky theories that extend onto this - all of which have very little supporting evidence - but believe that Rand spending a portion of aMol as a poor, blind derro is almost certain, even if my unlikely theories aren't. As such, I'd just like to know what all of you think. Do you agree that Rand will spend time as a begger? Do you think it's a metaphor for something else (poverty of spirit perhaps)? If you do think he will, how will it fit into the story? What will he learn/accomplish? -Genesis_XVI, the freshmaker. :) PS- "There's not enough room in the story for it", is an unimaginative res…

Why are saa drifting across his eyes when he loses his hand to Semi. Did his link to Moridin have anything to do with it? Did he somehow just find it when LLT blocked him from the one power. Was it part of what Semi threw at him. Is the blurryness in his vision one of the side effects. I have the questions Anybody besides RJ got answers?

At the end of KOD, Therava begins to lead the Shaido back to the Waste. However, earlier in KOD, Bendhuin (Sept Chief of the Green Salts) was given permission to enter Rhuidean. Assuming Bendhuin isnt power hungry like Couladin was, I wonder what is in the Shaido's future when they will finally have a Clan Chief who knows the truth of the Car'a'carn.

Hello all, I'm a new member to Dragonmount. I read the books through Path of Daggers a number of years ago and am planning to re-read those books before picking up the newer books. I'm wondering if I should start with New Spring first or if I should start with The Eye of the World and read through to the end before reading New Spring. What do you recommend?
