I am putting together a DnD adventure in WoT for my DnD Group. A couple of them have read the books but I started everyone in Faerun and have a Campaign crossing many interesting worlds planned - so they have no idea where they are going. One guy wants an animal companion - so I am using that as an opportunity to create some drama for his character and he is becoming a Wolfbrother. I also intend for the group to have a nasty run in with a Gholam (where the idea is for them to just survive the encounter and chase the Gholam away with silver, as Mat did). The adventure is set near the end of The Breaking as its time period. Anyway, I'd like to have the wolves warn t…

I mean everything wrong with the Senachan just get beautifully summed up when Tuon learns how her whole culture is a pathetic and stupid lie and she simply says "I don't care". This is a heroine we re supposed to want Matt to get with to help save te world but she says that? Yoire really telling me that Matt puts up with that? Why does Matt suddenly not have a conscience and treat slavery and torture as some sort of benign act? Put up with a rank hypocrite because he doesn't want to offend her? These people enslaved and tortured his friends. If I met the people who did that and they were as utterly unrepentant and self righteous I don't see how any sane person could not h…

There's a thread on this forum discussing a reader's first time experience with the series and it reminded me of a blog I happened upon some little time ago while scouring the internet for WoT related material. http://neuxue.tumblr.com/WoT-liveblog I'm honestly hopelessly in love with it, as the writing and analysis are top-notch quality and sprinkled with humor throughout. Lia (the author of the blog) manages to convey her excitement and pleasure of the reading experience in a manner that mirrored my own excitement so many years ago when I first began my journey reading WoT. I think some of the best parts are when she covers the chapters "The Road to the Sp…

  6. Sad... I finally purchased the Wheel of Time Companion book. I leafed through it, and found some fun details. I know some of the harder-core fans have complained because they didn't see anything new in there, but in a way that just shows how open and honest RJ was about this series. He truly had a passion for this world, and I think thats the main reason why it grew in the telling despite some saying it was for a larger paycheck. I know Team Jordan has expressed no interest in having anymore books written and that we should be hearing more information on the TV series in the near future, however, I can't help but to wonder if that will truly be the end of the Wheel of…

What Prophecies from the Shadow do we know about? Have any of them been fulfilled? Would love to get everyones opinion on this! :)

  9. Hi everyone, as the title suggests this is on the first meeting of Perrin and the Whitecloaks. The first words any Whitecloak ever said to Perrin were: "If you can understand human speech come down and surrender. You will not be harmed if you walk in the light. If you don't surrender you will all be killed. You have one minute." Now, this is happening not just anywhere, it is happening in Andor. The Children of the Light (as we are reminded numerous times) hold no sway over Andor. Boiled down to the important parts the Whitecloaks say "Surrender and we will maybe harm you, or we will indiscriminately murder you." It's a bit hard to judge in Andor but in any other…

  10. This was definetly one of those loose ends. Elayne seemed convinced that Manetheren might secede from Andor and that if Faile became Queen of Saldea this would de facto create a powerful new dynastic Union on Andors borders. Now, the inexplicable does happen and Faile becomes Queen of Saldea. Do you think that eventually that would have occurred? I mean Perrin is King in all but name and te people of the Two Rivers seemed increasingly interested in such a move. Plus Faile could be quite, ambitious, when the mood took her.

  11. In AMoL once Olver sounds the Horn of Valere Mat rides up to the Heroes of the Horn and speaks to Hawkwing. Eventually the conversation goes: Hend: "Besides, if the other side had summoned us, you'd be dead by now." Mat: "I did die. Apparently that tree claimed me." Hawkwing: "Not the tree, Gambler. Another moment, one that you cannot remember. It is fitting, as Lews Therin saved your life both times." Amaresu: "Remember him! I have seen you murmur that you fear his madness but all the while you forget that every breath you breathe, every step you take, comes at his forbearance. Your life is a gift from the Dragon Reborn, Gambler. Twice over!" What ev…

In Aviendhas vision we see the Senachan conquer the world. I am going to argue that this either her seeing something was very unlikely and just to teach her a moral lesson. Otherwise it makes no sense. The world Rand leaves at the end of memory of light makes this impossible unless we presume the Seanchan changed so radically that they would no longer be the Seanchan. Firstly, the Seanchan homeland is in civil war and no longer under the control of the Empress. This means they should not have the endless reserves of manpower to draw upon. Any campaign to regain their homeland would be a massive drain and would probably have caused catastrophic population loss. Also it…

  14. I’m just going through the books for the second time and as always I’m picking up on a lot more things than I did first time round. So I have a question and an observation for you all to think over. In The Great Hunt chapter 15 (titled Kinslayer) which is where Rand, Loial and Hurin have found themselves in a mirror world via the portal stone, they are still following the smell of Fain and the trollocs. Rand sees a very straight wisp of cloud in the sky and doesn’t mention it to the others because they are already stressed. I haven’t got the book to hand so that’s not a very precise discription but to me it sounded a lot like an airplane! Check it out see what y…

  15. This might come across as harsh, but I had high hopes after slogging through Jordan's inconsistencies. So far, I'm loving the direction the series has taken under Sanderson...BUT The only thing I don't get so far, is Shadar Haran. I just got to the scene where Semirhage was freed by him...Why is this guy not appearing in locations and assassinating people left and right? I get the whole 'too long from shayo gul" bit, but when you give this guy the ability to appear in the white tower and directly under the noses of the dragon reborn/wise ones/aes sedai/cadsuane in Arad Doman, it's just ridiculous that he isn't offing good guys left and right. Is there an exp…

I know Rand is supposed to be a simple farmer, but why didn't Rand just simply accept Lanfear as a trainer? Unless he didn't trust her, but Lanfear did nothing but attempt to help Rand become more powerful. It would be interesting to see what happens if Rand and Lanfear had joined forces...

Most know that the only Trollop who speaks or has a name for that matter is Narg from EotW. I kind of assumed that Jordan changed directions and decided that they weren't that civilized because they never spoke again. However, I'm doing my first complete reread and in Chapter 31 of book 4 Tam is speaking to Perrin after he firsts returns to Two Rivers. In it Tam tells Perrin that a warder had told him that Trollocs call the Aiel Waste the 'Dying Grounds' and that he intended on making sure that the Trollops refer to Two Rivers that way in the future. It'll be interesting if Trollocs will talk in the next TV series. Hopefully they don't. I can't see anything they sayi…

I wasn't really sure where to turn on this question, and hoping someone on this forum can help. I picked up a copy of The Eye of the World in a Waldenbooks in Charleston, SC right after a Robert Jordan signing when the book first came out. It's been sitting on various shelves and in boxes for the last 25 years or so. I did not actually read this copy at the time. I read the series on Kindle only in the last 5 years. Anyway, was wondering if this version is a collector's item at all, and if so, I would rather it not just be sitting under my nightstand. Any help is much appreciated.

Has anyone asked if Harriet will entrust Brandon Sanderson with writing the books for this epic series? This is probably the only thing that still leaves me grasping at air. Its one of those things in life that I'd like to read before I die. If not I'd love if someone could someday pose this to her. Just as I was relieved and eternally grateful that The Wheel of Time was finished the right way and with love. I would like to see Mat's story through however many books as it takes, enough to do it justice, and I trust Brandon to do it right. My background is, I read the series front to back 7 times. I'll probably re-read it again this year, it only gets better with …

  22. I know, another 'What If' question, but I'm doing my first complete reread, and these questions keep lingering... I would have loved to have read a series about how the White Tower rose to power, and another one on how it fell from power. I don't know if there is any information on those topics, but if anyone has any links it would be greatly appreciated. What WoT stories does it pain you to know that you will never read? The Trolloc Wars, The Age of Legends, Gaidel and Birgette, the Adventures of Hawkwing, or some other event that had happened?

Warning. Excerpt from the book. Potential spoiler She was going to die here after all. No hope. No Lan. And with hope gone, flickering on the edge of consciousness like a guttering candle flame, she did something she had never done before in her life. She surrendered completely. Saidar flowed into her, filled her.

Rand had used to guard them. I can think of three possible ways. 1. When he used the True Power, he opened himelf up to the DO who then knew everything. 2. When he opened himself up to Lanfear. He unknowingly exposed all of his secrets to her. 3. They were stolen after he handed them to Egwene. Taim had the seals, but does that mean Taim stole them himself or was given them to hold? We know there wasn't a weave on the seals, since Bashers's tent was ransacked as the shadow searched for them.

Hi everyone ^^ So I've been reading the series for the past four months and I'm at the eleventh book atm and I have some questions that can be only answered by RJ (but unfortunately that is impossible for him) or someone who saw the notes he left behind. I guess I could have asked these questions to Brandon but I don't know how to and even so there is no guarantee that he will answer me. I know there are some fans who saw RJ's notes (like Terez?), there are threads about it in this forum and theoryland and tumblr. I wanted to ask this on here because people look friendly and it is less formal than speaking to BS. So my questions are; 1- Is there anything …

Ok not sure if this ever been asked or if RJ ever answered it. But how did Ishy live till book 3? Book 1: Rand pointed his sword at Ba'alzamon's heart and shot white fire at him, setting him and the room on fire. Ok maybe he used a bubble like Rhavin did to protect himself after he got burnt. So guess he could of survived. Also he sliced the black cords attached to him which should of severed hiss connection to the DO. Book 2 clearly states Rand stabbed him in the heart "drove the Heron-marked blade into Ba'alzamon's heart". Book 3 : Rand stabs Ba'alzamon in the chest again and severed the black cords attached to him. So I guess the DO allowed Ishy to c…
