  1. It seems obvious that Thom did in fact kill Taringail. I mean, it was a "hunting accident" (teehee), Thom would have been the first to pick up on Taringail's ambitions, and well... he was there. Considering the fact that Taringail was Elayne's father and Moiraine's (half-)brother, this could become.... interesting. These are probably the two people Thom is the closest to. Do we have any insight into whether Moiraine or Elayne suspect it? I can't seem to remember anything specific other than the fact that Elayne in ToM issued a declaration clearing him of crimes commited in Andor or Cairhien. But that could be explained away by the fact that Morgase had asked for T…

  2. Have they been mentioned at all recently? Or have they just been forgotten I feel bad for them because they were the first people to accept Rand as the Dragon Reborn and they have nothing to show for it except getting dragged around by the rebels in Salidar I feel like they should get at least a shout out in the last book

  3. I have a question about when Moria brought up the proposal to get into an agreement with the black tower COT (suprises). Now I assume this is a plan by the dark side, and I also understand not everyone knows all the plans, its just I found it weird that both Sheriam and Delana were sick and freaked out about the proposal (especially since both of them are in direct contact with a forsaken(Halima).. Did I miss something here, was this her own design or something? Thanks

Hello there, I am current in the series, however, all the names and places, dates, plotlines, etc. are a lot to keep up with. While I am very excited to read the last book in January, I am a bit worried that I would have forgotten a lot of information. Just to kill time at work i have been listening to the audiobooks but havent had a chance to actually start an official re-read. Is there a good starting spot without missing certain key plotlines and influential characters? Thx for any advise:)

So I've just started my reread of the series and I always start with New Spring. Finishing it has left me with a lingering question. We can assume that Moiraine Sedai will be heading straight for the gathering that is going to happen at FOM because she has info for Rand. Now I'm thinking that Rand will have his usual group with him including his new Aes Sedai advisor our still not dead Green Cadsuane. For those who haven't read NS in awhile, Cad was not very happy with Moiraine's actions not to mention that Moiraine was still unsure of Cad's true Ajah. I think there will be some interesting sparks fly there.

  10. Does anyone else love listening to certain music while reading the books? I love the accompaniment (sp?) and always wonder how many other people read WoT to their favorite tunes. Partly because I love the way the combination works on my mood and enjoyment of certain chapters (and affects the way I remember scenes), my media company started having composers create music inspired by some of my favorite literature. I'd like share a sample of one of those pieces with you guys. If, like me, any of you listen to music while you read, or just like good instrumental music period, you might really enjoy this. This particular piece was inspired by, and composed to accompany …

We know that the Jumara are enormous worms that enhabit the blight, and as well that they are about the strongest shadow spawn out there, aside from the gholam. For the most part everything, human or not flee from them, barring Fain who killed one, which is a very tough task.. My point is this ferocious creature is only in Larvae state, and it begs me to wonder what butter-fly comes from this caterpillar. Samael comments in LoC about them being full grown, though they will never transfrom. I figure the Adult state should be more dangerous than the worm. I have considered all our current shadow spawn and can only really see one of them being adult, the gholam. …

  12. Ages come and pass, and in at least 2 of them it is the DO which brings them to an end. In at least one Age, what we call the Third Age, it is the DO who keeps things from getting pleasant again(everytime the light started getting it's act together Ishy would come out of exile[40 on/40 off] to mess things up). So while Time is reportedly designed to be a Wheel, at the very least(and perhaps always) the 2nd age would not end without the DO messing things up. Things would just keep getting increasingly awesome for all the people. Thus it is cleary the DO Who keeps things turning as intended It is given in interviews that the DO could win, in which case who knows wha…

So, I'm doing a re-read through in preparation for the last book release. I just got through the part in TSR (Book 4) where Nynaeve and Moghedien face off in the palace in Tanchico (where Nynaeve wins). While they're dueling with the power, Moghedien is trying to distract her using dialogue. Something that stuck out to me during that exchange was the following comment: Moghedien smiled and took a step nearer. "...travel to other worlds, even worlds in the sky. Do you know that the stars are. ..." So sure, that smile. So triumphant. The implication is that they visited other planets in the Age of Legends. It's a curious thought. Is this mentioned again anywher…

This was brought up in another thread (here on the Spoiler Forum: http://www.dragonmou...rough-7th-ages/), and I was curious to see what other users had to say about the idea of the Wheel of Time not being a center point in the series, despite the series' title. Personally I feel as though it is a huge part of the series in addition to making it fairly unique for a fantasy series and giving it more depth. However, since some seem to see the cyclical part as pointless to the development of the series, I am curious what others think. Also I apologize in advance if this is 'stealing' another person's thread; I didn't see one like this posted and I was interested i…

This isn't exactly a huge plot point, but after reading the aMoL prologue I think Bair used to be able to channel. From tSR, chapter 23, Bair is old enough to have been an established Wise One when Amys was called up for training, but can't channel: Not only is Bair old, she's the oldest Wise One in her clan. That seems remarkable given the number of Wise Ones that can channel, and that there are only twelve (12) Aiel clans total (excluding the Jenn). From tSR, Chapter 28: Just reinforcing that she's old, from FoH, chapter 5: Here's a hole in my theory, but given that Sorilea is probably pushing 300-400 it could still work, from FoH, Chapter …

So, do we know if the DO can only grab the souls of his servants? I'd always sort of thought yes, but then I thought I remembered Rand/LTT at some point freaking out at the prospect of being tortured by the DO forever, so...I dunno. Maybe it's just that he can keep better 'track' of the souls marked by him? Am I forgetting about some RJ quotes here? Anyway, when I was rereading EoTW recently, straight away the bit where Ishamael offers to bring Ilyena back to life jumped out at me. In theory, LTT would have known if that was straight-up impossible, and Ishy wouldn't have bothered offering it. He says, "The Great Lord of the Dark can make her live again, if you will se…

  22. When Aludra's dragons are delivered to the Fields of Merrilor, Guybon insists Talmanes receive Healing first. Elayne kneels beside Talmanes, with Egwene joining her, and then proceeds to Delve Talmanes after hearing him draw a "ragged breath." Guybon mentions Thakan'dar blades, Egwene says it's beyond either of their ability and then hears Nyn's voice above the throng. Rising to go, Egwene instructs Elayne, "“Do what you can for him” before rushing away to induce Nyn's help. We know Elayne is better than the average AS at weaving in general and was already holding saidar in order to Delve. Having spun at least two Warder bonds beforehand, she would not take too lo…

I've been reading this forum for a while now, just never bother to add my own ideas until now. So I would like to add my two cents to a couple topics being discussed here, but since I don't want to bring those discussion away from where they are going I just figured I would put them here. The Seals, Bore, Creator, and Dark One This is the one thing I've given most thought to. I realize its a few things but its all wrapped under the same umbrella of the Pattern. First, I would like the point out that Robert Jordan studied physics, and I see a lot of ideas from physics applied into this world. The biggest is symmetry, everything seems to be symmetric and balanced. Wit…

  24. I'm new to the forum and forum posting in general. Apologies if this is the wrong place to be talking about what I'm about to.. I've been reading Wheel of Time since about 1996. I love the series. Jordan's death was tragic, all the more because he didn't get to finish. It really seemed like he wanted this all wrapped up in 12 books no matter what. I'm glad his wife was able to find someone like Brandon Sanderson to put the final pages down. The spirit of the series goes on so even if Jordan doesn't get to see it finished at least his legacy is intact. This post is largely about that. I've been rereading the series recently. When I read the last book to have come out I…

When Moir is rescued at the end of ToM there was a scene where Mao or most probably Thom tells her about cleansing and it really excite her. I have been wondering why was she so excited and said something like that changes everything or some such thing, but point is what makes her so excited does that mean that she is privy to some information that we do not know and it fit s right into the piece of puzzle in her mind.

I saw some discussion on another thread about Padan Fain, and specifically that Brandon Sanderson has stated that he wants to distance Fain from the character of Gollum. This was on a thread about Olver, so it seemed appropriate to move the discussion here. This can't be an original theory, I'm sure someone else thought of it before I did, but I never read about anyone else stating this. I'm not saying this theory is "mine," but I did think of it without any outside influence. I think the foreshadowing of Fain's fate has been incredibly clear since Fain slashed Rand's side over his wound from Ishamael. Somehow, in the end, when Rand is doing his thing against Mori…

(Chapter 11 Spoilers) There was a theory posted a long time ago that Mat would take direct control of the Seanchan armies. Several people, including myself, objected to this theory on the grounds that Mat would simply lead the Band, and if he lead the Seanchan it would be indirectly. I no longer believe this to be the case. I am now certain that the original theory is corret. I believe that Mat will kill Galgan: And then Fortuna will conscript Mat into Galgan's position.

Everybody's too f^&*ing serious around here. As our story begins, everyone sounding pretty grim, but is it code? Talmanes telling some sellsword dudes, "this is the end," blah, blah, blah.
