She's got a lot to do. What will be her first order of business on returning from Rhuidean? 1. Maybe she'll gather the Clan Chiefs on her way back to Rand so they, along with the WOs and the Car'a'carn, could talk about what she saw and they could talk about how to prevent that future. (Rand could then tell if any of them are DFs.) 2. Thank Min for helping her take the next step on becoming a WO, maybe taking her as a 1st sister, 3. Then along with Elayne (she will probable have a separate ceremony to name him her Prince Consort if he survives and then Lord of the TR if he accepts it) and Min she will build a bridal wreath for the three of them and lay it at…

The other day I saw what is exactly the ancient Aes Sedai symbol on a CAD drawing. If anybody is a CAD expert, is the symbol used in drafting for something? I couldn't figure it out, especially since I couldn't figure out what the CAD drawing was showing - it was a part that I had never seen in my life, and the drawing wasn't very clear, but the symbol was in the center of the top view of the part (I think). I just thought of posting this here, because I thought it was a cool coincidence.

After a very thoughtful discussion in the Chat Room *cosmicpanda,Barid Bel Medar,lolguy26* these where the conclusions 1. Why do we only hear about channelers going mad and channeling? Why do they never get drunk and channel? 2. It seems too perfect to be true. Obviously, drunkenness in channelers is explained as madness. 3. Lews Therin must have been drunk when he broke the world. 4. In fact, there is no such thing as the 'taint' or the DO. 5. The DO is just the Creator when drunk. 6. Since Bela is the Creator, drunk Bela is the DO. 7. People talk more loudly when they're drunk. This is why Bela uses all caps when she's the DO …

I was wondering about the illness that eventually kill male channelers from the taint. It is described as a wasting disease that make someone rot while they are still alive, is this meant literary? I mean such a working could mean anything, sometimes when someone is ill and they are not getting better you might figuratively say that they are rotting, but to me it just seam to be a bit more literal in the WoT books, and if it is meant literal is it in the form of flesh that get necrosis and so on more natural or are we talking zombie like actual body parts rotting while the channeler is still alive. My second question is can the sickness happen before the madness? Or …

I say potential because I am not an avid follow of this forum, so I don't know if this has been mentioned before. In my effort to give terez firm reasons why his/her believing Rand will survive the last battle is a pipe dream, I developed this theory. It focuses on the Aiel, or more specifically, the direction that should be given to them. So Padra seemed like a woman who never knew her parents. The Aiel nation was a nation lost. Rand is accused of abandoning the Aiel (which is most likely a feeling fostered hundreds of years later by a people left to their own devises). In all of his planning, Rand ignored the Aiel, then he died. However, one thing stuck ou…

Doing my re-read and I'm on book 8. They are passing through the gateway to get to the farm and use the Bowl of the winds. Elayne decides to go through the junk they find in Ebou Dar to lighten their load and find many interesting things. The necklace and bracelett sets that has a slim belt studded with gems and they are all ter'angreal. Also they find an angreal that connects by 4 flat chains to the wrist of the wearer. Later on, we see Nyneave wearing all of them when she's with Cadsuane going to help Rand when she begins to learn the uses of her ter'angreal from Cadsuane. How or why does Nyneave get to end up with all of it? Could she have spread the wrist ang…

This is related to the books, but it's more to do with this site than the books themselves. Sorry if I put it in the wrong forum. So, back in the day (somewhere from 2002 to 2005) I remember listening to an audio recording of an interview/Q&A with Robert Jordan (at a signing I think; if I recall, you can hear ambient noise in the background), and I'm pretty sure it was hosted on this site. I'd like to find it again, but if it is here I don't know how to begin looking. I've tried searching site:www.dragonmount.com on Google, but no luck so far. I was wondering if anybody knew if it was still here, and/or could point me towards how to find it. Some things ab…

  11. Like all Dragonmount members I am a fan of the series; like most, I am happy with the work Brandon Sanderson has done with The Gathering Storm and Towers of Midnight. I found his world-building to be incredibly creative, and the novels well written, the occasional weakness in character dialogue notwithstanding. I am enough of a fan to have been among those desperate and reckless people trying to find a copy of Towers of Midnight before the release date. Despite what I am sure were the best efforts of Brandon, Harriet and Team Jordan, in the last two books there were a few minor plot inconsistencies and spelling mistakes. Now I don’t care about spelling mistakes that …

Just a thought, it seems to be that most of the problems that occur in Randland is because of the one power. The dark one was able to touch the world in the Age of Legends because they were looking for another source of power and drilled the hole. What if the way that Rand breaks the world this time is neccesarly a true breaking, but finds a way to not only seal the bore fully and then destroy the one power itself. That would kinda take care of being able to drill another hole(of course i guess u can always find another way), but I thought it would be a pretty cool ending. There would be no aes sedie would just be a normal world. thoughts?

Okay, so I have been rereading the WoT series in preparation for AMoL and I have been reading about Rand's little man-with-a-sword-on-his-lap angreal. Then I saw this article about a statue found by the Nazis many years ago. I know it doesn't fit the angreal description exactly, but I couldn't help making the connection. Although I doubt it will assist its holder in drawing upon the One Power, you never know. Might be worth a try. I mean, the thing is carved from a meteorite. I've seen enough movies and read enough fantasy novels to know it must have some kind of special powers. http://news.yahoo.co...-213623280.html

Hey All, I was checking out the official cover art and then realized there was a draft cover done by D. Sweet before his passing. If you haven't seen it (highly unlikely on this website, I think), I've attached it. In checking it out, I noticed something about the Aes Sedai symbol in the sky. You guys catch this? It is a complete Taijitu symbol. The "ancient symbol of the Aes Sedai" is described as a circle halved with a sinuous line, one side dark, the other light. That's from the description of it over the arch to the passage to the Eye of the World. Notice that there is no mention of two circles within the symbol, as are shown in the Sweet cover art. …

So I know prophesies are talked about wildley here, and had a thought of my own on this, I wanted to post this without reading anyones elses posts on it to not be biased. I posted a theory on here about the one power either being destrtoyed or non usable at the end of the books, cause that seems to be the main cause of all the problems. Now the Amayar have that prophecy about the end of illusion.. Could this possibly be that the end of illusion is actually the end of the wheel? I might say this wrong so I do apologize, but we know that everything keeps happening through ishameal, they keep battling and have been since the begining of time.. What if that has all be…

  16. Forum member Herid asked a question in the 'Simple Question' thread regarding the heroes of the Horn that reminded me of many questions I've always had but never been able to answer. Essentially, he asked whether the heroes could be harmed in any way during the time that they've been called back by the Horn. This question started a chain reaction in my thoughts, and eventually I came to a point where the Horn's origins may make a difference to our overall understanding / theme of the series. I was intrigued by the question who could possibly have created this artifact, given that it demonstrates a mastery of life vs. death as well as knowledge of 'what lies beyond'…

I am curious what the importance of Slayer is to the last battle and to the lights cause. Gitara Sedai advised Luc to go to the Blight on a mission of importance to the survival of the world. This is the same Gitara that send Tigraine to the Waste to become a maiden and foretold the Dragon was reborn and died. So with that it seems that Luc going to the Blight and becoming Slayer is important for the light. I have not seen anything that he has done so far that would be critical. So what role will Slayer play in the last book? Will he somehow held Rand at the Last Battle?

I was thinking of making a sort of pocket sized encyclopedia of characters, as they stand at the end of ToM. You could then print it out and whenever you see a name you don't completely recognize (Has happened to me a few times so far in my reread) you could look it up. It would have information like where a character is from, where they are as of ToM, a short description of looks and personality and any important links they have to other characters. Would anybody be interested in helping me make it?

  19. There's quite a bit of musing here, so if you want to fast-forward to the meat of it, scroll down to the last paragraph. Clearly, Darkfriends are a threat to all that is good and decent. If they had their way, society would be turned upside down. We all know this, it's a well-established fact, yada yada yada. They're sadistic, decadent, debauched, dishonest, manipulative, etc. You can go right on down the list. They're bad news, simply put. And, logic would follow that Darkfriends who can channel are about 1,000x more dangerous than those of the non-Aes Sedai or Asha'man variety. In other words, the only thing more dangerous than the Black Ajah are the Forsaken (and P…

  22. So I just finished my re-read, and when I got to the prophecy that Moridin shows Graendal in ToM: The relevant portion is in bold. Couple this with the standard prophecy of Rand's blood on the rocks of Shayol Ghul to save the world and that to live Rand must die, and this portion of the prophecy makes little sense, as the portion in bold seems to indicate that if Rand dies at Shayol Ghul, it will bring the darkness, unless it is the Lord of the Evening's (moridin) blood that must be spilled to bring the darkness. This does make sense given that Moridin is Rand's counterpoint for the shadow. Furthermore, given their strange "bond" I think that it is distinct…

  23. I apologize if I'm brainfreezing on this and its been discussed to death. Ok - In Book 2, Liandrin mentions three False Dragons are on the loose and Moiraine corrects her Red Sister and says that in the past two years there have actually been SIX False Dragons to declare themselves. Now, obviously, two are Logain Ablar and Mazrim Taim...buuuut...do we ever learn anything at all about the other four?? Fish

  24. Started by TLHansum,

When i was reading the early books of the series, i remember them mentioning that the pattern was 'trying to spin out the dragon' before Rand was born, and thats why we have all these guys that turned out to be false dragons. And then when Rand declared, two false Dragons both fell off their horses at the same time and were captured. So if the pattern was trying to push out Dragons for Rand, would it have been doing the same for LTT? If so, it makes sense that Demandred would be a false Dragon. He's mentioned as everything LTT was, just a smidgen less. Suddenly realizing these posts look a lot better with quotes. Trying to find more quotes :P

I was reading through the books again and I got to thinking about Asmodean and his trickle of power after the battle at Carhein. Presumably, he channeled at Rand to heal him. There is no proof of this though. There is only what we get from Rand's POV. It would have been a perfect time to strike out at Rand. Whether Asmodean was acting in collusion with Lanfear or under her coercion, it may have been the time he was waiting for. Asmodean had hours with Rand to mess him up. The first thing Rand notices when he wakes up is how tired Asmodean looks. What did Asmodean do to Rand? Coercion perhaps? I think that it is very soon after this encounter that Rand begi…

Had a bit of a giggle at work yesterday. I work for the local train provider and we've got a new ticketing system which we launched yesterday. The program that we now use to sell tickets is call TOM. I found that very amusing. This has nothing to do with anything, but you're probably the only people I know who'd get the reference :)

As the title says. I cannot remember if it was stated in the books, but when Tam found Rand, was Tigraine dead? We know he came back with an outlander wife who had red hair and looked like Rand, so Rand's actual birth mother makes sense. If not, it is either a weird coincidence that she looked like Rand or Tam found her for that reason Sorry of this has been discussed before

So i read the WoT if concerning Fain and the last battle, got my head going. Mostly because I really don't like him, i've avoided thinking about him too much, he was more of a testicular cancer to rand's livestrong bracelet sa'angreal. But Mordeth? i recently stumbled onto stuff i didn't know, namely that Mordeth was a PERSON! I like learning things i didn't know. Furthermore, I learned that via interview with Brandon, Mordeth had visited the finns. I really really like the Finns (you don't quite understand how much) So here's my theory. 29. On another topic, about meetings people would like to see, I saw mentions of characters like Uno, Daerid and Breane. With Uno and Breane, I had to stop to try and remind myself where they had probably ended up, and with Daerid, I can't even really remember who he is, although I recognise the name..! In terms of numbers of books, I wonder which character(s) have been 'missing in (in)action' for longest i.e. not dead or deliberately concealed from the reader, but just absent even though the books visited the territory they were in, and probably just got left out due to lack of available screen time?

  30. Hello everyone, is it just me or does anyone else get irritated with the lack of communication between the characters(i know it makes better story but still) For example, I am re-reading Winters Heart, and Mat is still in Ebou Dar, with of course Suroth being there. Now the three musketeers(Elayne, Nyneave, and Egwene), know that Suroth is a darkfriend, or at least working with darkfriends, and they never mention it to anyone(not sure if this is due because they dont see the seanchean again or what), but at least if Mat knew he could be careful.. And another example if im not mistaken which I could be cause I dont have the book on me, Suroth sets up a meeting with…
