I apologize now if this was discussed, it really is hard to find things in the forums and hard not to open up Topics that was already discussed. I just want to see what people think of my opinion on Elaida, I believe that she will find a way to not only escape from the adam, but also make it also make it powerless. This will be able to put a end to the enslavement (also knowing sul dam can also channel).. She is so stubborn she will never quit, or be totally broken like some other aes sedia that have been. Just a thought.

What happened "a thousand years ago"? I've been re-reading the books, and I quite often see references to "a thousand years ago." Was it a special Age or war or time? Or is it just a way of saying "a really long time"? Examples: Nynaeve is the most powerful female Aes Sedai in a thousand years (as are Elayne/Egwene) A thousand years since the Armies of the Night in Seanchan etc. There's four or five things, but I can't think of the others and I'm in a hurry. Hopefully some of you guys know and can inform me.

I am pretty sure this has been discussed, but can not find the thread. In Lord of Chaos, chapter Under the Dust, Elayne and Nyneave are searching for something to help with rand by need in the dream world. They end up in the tower with a room of Ter angreal. Do we know what it is that is in there that he needs, or have we not gotten back to that yet? Thank

Are there Aiel or their descendants in any other parts of the world? The Aiel from the Aiel Waste seem to be the descendants of the Aiel from only one city in the Age of Legends. From them the Tinkers shoot off in their own direction, but the earliest stock is still the same. I would argue that the Ayamar and their Water Way could be Aiel from the AoL, only from a different city. Do you think that Aiel could have survived in Shara or Seanchan or where they all killed out during and immediately after the Breaking elsewhere in the world?

DoS lasted for 4 years, were founded by 2 Accepted put out of Tower, had 23 regruted women. How would similar organization – numbering around 2 dozens channelers with core of 1- 3 former Accepted and at least 5-6 Accepted level women – influenced events on eve (or rather dawn) of Seanchan invasion and later?

Hello was just looking through WOT wiki and came accross some information on these places which are rarely mentioned in the books. did Robert jordan just make these places up to add to the size and scale of his world or are these places still to hold a role in amol? is there any theories on these places. You would think a place the size of shara and population could attract a forsaken whether its for someone like moghedian to go into hiding or to gather an army since the place is huge.

In my current re-read I just finished the scene in aCoS where Mat first encounters the gholam. Something in the description triggered an idle thought on how exactly Aginor created the gholam. It seems obvious in the case of the Trollocs that they were mere human/animal hybrid experiments, although the abilities of the Myrdraal that sprang from them don't follow logically. The thing that triggered the thought was the description of the gholam as tall, slender and moving like a snake. This made me think of the Aelfinn. And there's the matter of the gholam being made to kill channelers, and how much it relishes doing so. Wasn't there something about how the Aelfinn/E…

So some here on DM are so quick to scream out Randfanboy when somone says anything about Cadsuane, that I feel they need to realize there own extreme fanboyism is blinding them to the story that RJ wrote. Yes I have read all the cadsuane posts and dont really care to argue what her intentions are and if shes a bully and all the stuff that people have picked apart and argued over and over again.... I just want to know who would win in a fight to the death... Rand the Dragon Reborn or Cadsuane......

Apologies, to start... perhaps the last thing this board needs is another hot-button Cadsuane topic, but I have been musing on this issue for over a decade, and I havent seen a lot of discussion on this particular angle. I have conflicting feelings on Cadsuane: I love her role a great deal of the time (and I smile every time my audiobook goes “Phaw!”), and I admit, I seethe about her in other chapters. I suppose that is the sign of a dynamic and complex character done right. It has been helpful to read all the thoughts on the pro-Cadsuane crowd here at DM and other sites, which has helped reconcile many of my concerns about of the ol' gal (aside a from a few near-de…

So, I was just thinking... And I'm pretty sure I haven't seen a discussion on this anywhere... How will the DO manifest himself if/when he is unleashed before or during the resealing of the Bore?... If he does at all. Will he take a human form, be a big cloud of black death, like in the Green Lantern movie? I have a wee small part of me brain wondering if he will put himself fully in the body of Shaidar Haran. Yes, I know that the DO doesn't necessarily have to take shape at all but I'd be a bit miffed if he was just a mass of CAPS LOCK FURY throughout the chapter/s he will feature in. So peeps... Any thoughts?

Been thinking about the taint and the patternin relation to Rand and LTT's memories and I'm beginning to think the taint was cause by the pattern aligning things for the 3rd age. Let us consider that rand needs LTT's memories, experiences and knowledge to win, it's not enough to be the DR he's needs LTT in there as well. The problem is that without the taint there's nothing really there to help break down those partitions in his mind that kept LTT at bay. With the taint, his madness slowly eroded those walls until eventually he had his epiphany and was whole. The taint for all it's evil was actually required for the light to win imo. But how could the pattern cause th…

Topic pretty much says it all. Sooner or later the usage of the one power will die out if our current age is to appear. Will it somehow have anything to do with the Last Battle? I'm not sure if this have been discussed or if there are any evidence on exactly how the ability to channel disappears. Throughout the books we've been told that the ability to channel is decreasing, probably because of the gentling of male channelers. However I personally believe that with the taint gone there will be an increase in the ability to channel (and I've also read somewhere either on this forum or in the books that there are women out there who specifically finds male channelers and, f…

Exactly how do Darkfriends and the (at least somewhat) smarter Forsaken imagine that this would work? We have to my knowledge not seen the DO make anyone stop aging. Sure, he can grab people's souls when they die and put them into new bodies (but the grabbing depends on luck and the right circumstances to even work). Do they have to depend on him doing this each time they die of old age or crash their jo-car into a cuendillar wall? I don't believe the Forsaken even saw body migration until after they were released from the sealing. Do they simply just trust the DO on this claim?

So theres definitely going to be some reunions, either long awaited or unwanted, in AMOL...two of them are: 1. Rand and Moiraine 2. Mat and Tuon I'm not real sure which one I am anticipating more. I have the feeling Mat and Tuon will be like: (tuon) "toy, why are you here?" (mat) "um," fiddles with hat while Talmanes snickers..and selucia gives dark glares at everyone. Rand and Mo will be like: Rand: I see the tower has treated you well little sister. Mo: the wheel weaves as the wheel wills. If Eqwene was there...there would be a few sniffs. What other important reunions am I missing? I really dont think Rand and the G brothers will be t…

I was on youtube to see some of the "trailers" and noticed recommended casting videos, apparently many people (?) agree on a few of the characters Moraine (Weizs) Tuon (McClure) Birgitte (Lawless) etc. Some of the characters i thought were right on and some dead wrong. Aiel are pale hair, with red, red/blonde, blonde.

Shortly before Perrin's trial, Morgase speaks to Galad and tells him something along the lines that the world is not black and white, not even a shade of grey. How good men can make mistakes and do bad. Can I get an exact quote of it?

Hello friends and fellow WOTmaniacs! I'm doing a re-read right now, taking my time and going slow to savor it all and have it fresh in my memory when the final book gets here..... Anyway, when Verin, Nyneave, Elayne, and Hurin are carrying Mat back to Tar Valon for Healing from the dagger at the beginning of the book, we are reminded that not only is it dangerous to be around the dagger very much, but that Mat can infect those around him as well. We are told this when Moiraine finds them at Master Gill's inn in TGH, it's mentioned by Vandene or Adelas when Moiriane visits them, and when Verin and company arrive at Tar Valon too. Everyone is told (including the …

I think the majority of WoT characters are in need of therapy. So I guess what I'm asking is.. 1) Do you think RJ portrayed people realistically considering their behavior, motivations, and apparent mental health? 2) If you were to make a (horribly unqualified) diagnosis of any characters, what would it be? I have no idea what to expect from this thread, I guess both serious discussion and jokes are welcome. And I hope it can stay clear of the like/dislike debate and instead deal with how realistically these characters are portrayed. I know the topic of mental health is serious stuff, but I have given a lot of thought to it while reading so I would hope to see…

From the night that Moirane and Lan took Mat Eggy Perrin and Rand from Emond's Field to the day that Mat Thom and Noal get Moraine out of the tower of Ghenji... how much time has passed? I have guessed many times and have a good idea but I just got finished with The Gathering Storm and from dialog it seems like that Tarmon Gaidin as of the TGS/TOM is a week away? Enlighten me as to how long it takes for this series to happen in real time.

This is perhaps a strange question but me and my gaming group full of fantasy nerds got onto this topic a while ago and it have been bugging me ever since, what would happen in the Wheel of Time world if you had a hemaprodite who started channeling? Hemaprodites are rate but since such babies are born from time to time in our world chances are it could happen in WoT as well, what side would they channel? Also do what side a person channel follow their physical gender or their mind and soul. You have folks who are born into the wrong body, for example someone who is physically male but who completely identify as a man, and while neither hemaprodites or anyone with such…

Ok inspired by the thread Sunrunner or Channeler where magick systems are compared I wanted to make a thread asking which mage is the most S**** out of luck male Channelers in Wheel of Time before Rand's little clean up operation or l'Cie from Final Fantasy 13? We all know how male Channelers work, they have access to a powerful, versatile magick system, only age at a faction of the speed normal people do, not that it will do them much good, and within five seconds to ten yeas they will be insane and spread some magickal doom and glooms, or should we say doom and booms for a while and then die of a illness which is similar to rotting away while still alive. They also …

I have seen some debate on various threads on whether or not Mats medallion protects against Saidin. The general consensus seems to be it is unconfirmed. On my reread of LoC I found a passage in chapter The Color of Trust, Mat is in Salidar dancing with Halima in celebration of the new Amyrlin. Matt had just stopped dancing with Halima, because she made him uncomfortable, when the medallion went cold. Looking around him he sees Halima staring at him and becomes convinced she channeled at him. As she is actually Arangar/Balthamel, she is using Saidin. Anyone agree/disagree this is confirmation that the medallion wards off Saidin as well as Saidar?

Actually I'm starting to hate the books. I was walking around the library today looking for a series that I can dive into. And I kept measuring up everything I saw against the Wheel of Time and found them lacking. Most of the series out there are all the same. Elf, dwarf, orc, or some sub human race of people. Check Dragons. Check Everyone speaks the same language. (Well that is Wheel of Time but I lived with it) Check Zombie's or vampiers or some trendy paranormal creature. Check Ok lets look at science fiction. I would if people actually wrote Sci Fi outside of Star Trek. I'm in desperate state of being here. I need a series to read f…

I don't remember which thread I was reading where someone said that the flaw in Callandor caused Rand to kill part of his army when fighting the Seanchen in Book 8. But, it wasn't the flaw, it was that saidin and saidar were acting strangely in the areas surrounding where Elayne, Nynaeve and Co used the Bowl of Winds to fix the weather. One of the damane did the same thing - killed Seanchen soldiers because saidar acted strangely in the area.
