What we know of the horn. The Horn's origins are uncertain, but it was lost to the world and faded into the realm of myth for hundreds of years when the Aes Sedai of the Age of Legends hid it beneath theEye of the World deep within the Blight, along with the banner of Lews Therin Telamon and one of the seals to the Dark One's prison, during the Breaking, there it was guarded by the Green Man, Someshta, the last of the Nym, until the time of its use. I'm sorry if its been discussed before but as i remember it, after mat blows the horn and all the heroes are there and arthur hawing says so that means the horn is linked to the banner of the dragon but h…

I know this has been discussed religiously, but there are so many threads about it i wanted to clear up my thoughts(dont really want to start a debate, just see what people think of these thoughts), Right in the Begining of LOC, he arrives in shayol gaul in a fur lined cloack(dont forget randland is still in summer and its hot everywhere), and he also mentions a few hundred leagues north its pure ice. So my thoughts are we have no idea what demendred is up to and he has not shown up yet with whatever he is doing.

  4. So basically the point of the thread is to state your prediction and see what is the most popular ideas, and maybe be introduced to some other, less popular or known ideas. So, answer the poll and if you want, reply with your own thoughts about what is going down. Discussing theories present and their validity, if there is something that makes it impossible or a missed quote is all good, but it is primarily just a survey to see what people think, not a discussion as to what is more likely, but really, who listens to the OP anyway So I may as well start of with my prediction. I am going with the DO will be sealed using both saidin and saidar, with Rand's …

Has anyone discussed what Setalle Anan's role might be in the next book or if she will have one. The burned out Aes Sedai is still in the Caemlyn area as far as I know. I like the idea of a burned out Aes Sedai coming back and reeking havoc but I feel like she might get skipped over in the last book.

  7. I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on getting hold of the latest editions of the books. I'd like to have the ones with all the corrections for my next reread. I'm currently at KoD so the ones I'd like to have right now are tGS and ToM if those have been updated. Is there a list of changes and editions anywhere? Do I have to visit a bookstore physically to be sure what I'm getting?

Something that struck me earlier while reading a post over at the aMoL-forum was about the dualities of the One Power and the True Power. Sorry in advance for this really messy post. Again I'm adding sentences everywhere and my thoughts are not really clear enough on the matter to even formulate a proper question We know that the One Power is something that power the world (the Wheel?) to continue existing and that its two parts work together and at the same time they fight each other. We also know about the Yin-Yang symbol used to picture the One Power: We also know that the Creator is seen as the creating force in the universe and that the Dark One is the des…

For a while now, I have thought "the three become one" refers to the intermixing of Saidar, Saidin and the True Power. Serval times "zsa" were mentioned as a by product of channeling the True Power too much. Somewhere it was mentioned, continued use of the True Power would render the channelers eyes black. With the limits of use the DO has put on the True Power, I would guess no one was allowed to channel past the black eyes part. What if channeling great amounts of the True Power, through Callendor, say, would have further reaching effects, such as the body itself? Anyone have thoughts on this?

In Towers of Midnight we see Nynaeve healing Naeff of his madness, seeing the corruption as a "darkness" on his brain and pulling it off. Compare that with this RJ quote: "In the prologue of TEOTW we saw the True Power being used to heal insanity. The One Power cannot be used to heal insanity." (from an ACOS signing report; I looked it up an Theoryland.) Is this simply a mistake on Brandon's part, or something else? I'm inclined to call it a mistake, but what does everyone think?

I'm rereading A Crown Of Swords and have run into something I find kind of amusing. The Wise Ones in T'Rond ask Egwene if the AS will swear fealty to Rand. She says no, they cannot. Their duty lies to the Tower first. She then accepts oaths of fealty offered from Theodrin and Faolin and later demands oaths of fealty from Nisao and Myrelle - Fealty to herself, not to the Tower. I just found it all to be kind of amusing. That is all. There's actually something else that she thought to herself that confirmed a belief of my own but since that's already been discussed to death, and had gotten a bit too fiery for friendly talk I'll keep it to myself. Mst of this is…

I'm rereading the Lord of Chaos (or listening I have all the books on Audio), and I'm at the point were Nicola is in the Circle and has her first fortelling, and I found myself picking the fortelling apart now that I know so more about the books. It's pretty straightforward and I think most people will come to the same conclustions I did. “The lion sword, the dedicated spear, she who sees beyond. Three on the boat, and he who is dead yet lives. The great battle done, but the world not done with battle. The land divided by the Return, and the guardians balance the servants. The future teeters on the edge of a blade.” —Lord of Chaos, Chapter 14 So picking the fo…

  14. As I go through the series, I wonder how the Dark One can affect the world/pattern? My main conclusion is the the Dark One is apart of the pattern, just another thread, albeit a large one that is prevalent in at least two of the seven ages of the wheel. Also, as an afterthought, would balefire do anything to the dark one? if he is a thread, he would burn out too, hypothetically. and even if he is external to the pattern, would balefire affect him?

Now that healing stilling has become possible, it would seem that the next step would be building a conduit for a non-channeler. The logic behind this being that if it is possible to repair a conduit with 100% ability retention, then it must be a perfect fix. If you can make a perfect fix, then you should be able to build a completely new one. Correct me if Im wrong in thinking that the only thing one needs to channel is that conduit. Your thoughts?

  16. With over 1800 characters, we're all bound to dislike at least one, or a dozen. Personally, I don't have any strong animosity toward any character. The ones I like the least actually don't appear enough to be truly hated. But I will say from the cast of characters, one I've never really liked is Domon. He's always seemed so ignorant to me, and also rather uninteresting. I don't like the Domani talk, either. Too much emphatic tense annoys me. Another annoying character was Masema, especially when he gets all preachy about the Dragon, but I think he was under Compulsion or something, judging by his thoughts before he died when he said "the Dragon came to him in the night an…

Let me just start this post off by saying that I am glad and thankful that Brandon Sanderson decided to spend his time and energy finishing the Wheel of Time series that RJ started. I'm realllly looking forward to finally finding out how the series ends and for that Sanderson gets my respect. That being said I'm still kinda worried about amol, specifically when the characters actually all meet up again. It's been said by a lot of people in a lot of threads that BS has a tendency to put plot gratification above actual characterization, and though it pains me to agree...I agree. There have been times when some characters have come off as caricatures of the…

  18. I always figured that Rand would bring Galad in at some point. Earlier in the series, when he took Cairhien, I figured he would name Galad as regent or that maybe he would allow the Whitecloaks, under Galad's leadership, to make Cairhien their new home after the Seanchan took control in the west.

  19. KOD, Ch 36 Mat explains his beforehand knowledge to Tuon: "I went through a ter'angreal to somewhere else, another world maybe. The people there aren't really people--they look like snakes--but they'll answer three questions for you, and their answers are always true. One of mine was that I'd marry the Daughter of the Nine Moons..." One of the few times Mat comes clean with the truth and what is his reward? Being publicly rapped on the head and lectured about harboring superstitions and telling lies. Contrast to this passage in TGS, Ch 19 Tuon reacts to Tylee's disclosure: Tuon felt she should be shocked. But, oddly, she wasn't. So Matrim was no…

So, I debated about putting this here or in the general discussion but... Mat Cauthon is somewhat based on Odin from Norse myths. Symbols of Odin - the spear and the raven Odin is known to be a trickster and gives up one of his eyes in exchange for wisdom. Odin is hung upside down on the world tree During Ragnarok (Nordic armageddon), Odin fights Fenris the wolf and is swallowed by the wolf. One of Odin's sons then kills the wold by tearing its jaws apart. I think there's a chance that Olver either saves or avenges Mat in the last book.

So I read in the "Does Anyone Know" thread that it's Ninny and Moira going down into the Pit with Rand, and Ninny's taken off the bulk of jewels. Any guesses why she's taking off the rings before going to the rumble? My best guess is she's in mourning over Lan and don't wanna be glammed up. My safety guess is after getting Care Bear Stared she just ain't so vain anymore. Ya'll got any ideas?

It's obvious who the darkfriends are, they've sworn oaths to the Dark One. How about the side of light? There are no oaths to be on the side of light. We do see people swear on the light for hope of rebirth and salavation - but they usually take that oath to show that their promise is real - example - Siuane, Leeane and Min with Gareth Byrne. To make myself clear, there are obviously murderers, thieves, rapists, etc in RJ's world. However, they haven't all sworn themselves to the DO. They're just scum. So, are they on the side of light? A less extreme example would be any person walking the world: a merchant, a guard, rich person, poor person, etc. They don't swear to th…

I'm bored, so play along with me. So, Rand can create a super sword with the one power that can slice through just about anything and not hurt his hand while he holds it, right? So, why not make a suit of armor like that so nothing can hurt him. Just tie off the weave. Also, his hand's gone. Big deal. Do a Tyr and have the blade come staight out of the nub. Any other suggestions, silly or not, are most welcome.

  26. I tried to photoshop what I think (or hope) the whole new boxed set will look like (I'm hoping they will release something like that after aMoL or the Encyclopedia), but alas, my 'shop skills are lacking some. I'm hoping they release the whole set with a lot less über-cheesy art work (sorry, guys, I hate Darryl Sweet's work :-\), and something along the lines of a classy, boxed set. I'd like it if there were no artwork on the covers (like the leatherbound editions with the art bound in the front cover), but with new artwork... Anyway, I know we all own every book, in paper back and hard cover (some of us even have those fancy signed leather copies), but who is…

Hello guys and gals, I was just curious about the readers of the audiobooks(kramer and reading). Does anyone if they were designated certain parts of the book and others not? I have listened to a few audiobooks and this seems to be the first time where two readers seemingly swap out duties from chapter to chapter. The first example of multiple readers of an Abook that comes to mind is "Hearts in Atlantis" by stephen King( the readers being stephen king and william hurt), but there they just split the book in two parts, Hurt reading one and King the other. anyways, was just bored and curious, Thx

In the Age of Legends, it has been so long since the DO had last been freed (assuming that the pattern is always the same, with the DO being released in the third age each time, that the people during the AOL did not even remember he existed. So, how do they know anything about him? How do we know that the creator actually sealed him, or anything else about him? I don't see the DO as being the type of being thay admits weakness. So I doubt he would just come out and say that he was defeated and sealed by the creator. So, how and when did humans learn about it.

So do you all think like i do that the Bore is drilled from the real world into the world of dreams? Since all three are constant the real world, the world of dreams, and the dark one. does that make sense. It does to me,hahaahahah. It would of sort of explaine why the area around shayol gul is so F'd up, andthe fact that anything could happen there. I think the fact the the dragons blood on the rocks will be the thing to close the hole in reality, tying in the dragon is one with the land and all that jazz. i beg every ones pardon if this doesnt make sense.

If there is a new world created from every (major) decision made and put into the Portal Stone Rolodex of WorldsTM, would a new world have been created for Rand's decision in VoG only to end pretty much instantaneously when he snuffed out the Pattern? Or at the very least, the world would be destroyed in a few weeks when the Dragon isn't there in that world and the DO gets set free. But somewhere in the series (I believe it was Verin or Lanfear in tGH) someone said that the DO was the same in every world and if he's free in one, he's free in all. So how do the workings of the Portal Stones square with... the workings of the Portal Stones? #Paradox #Confusing
