  1. Rand has a strange dream while on the road to Camelyn (EOTW). This is interesting in it Thom is juggling while sitting on a litter that Rand is pulling and stating "The queen is married to the land, but the Dragon is one with the land." This is an interesting foreshadowing of Rand's eventual marriage to Elayne. Right now they are only bonded, but doesn't this suggest that they will actually be married at some point?

Maybe i missed this in another discussion, but what happened to her? No really...besides disappearing from where ever she was with Cadsuane? Is she black like Verin...thats why she fled? Wouldn't Rand be able to tell that fact?

In Fires of Heaven, a refugee named Pevin suddenly appears in the story and becomes bannerman for the Dragon Reborn. Allegedly, Pevin's entire family died as a result of the Cairhienin civil war and resulting famine, and he lost his final son (dead) and daughter (gai'shan) to the Shaido. Whether any of that's true or not, no one is around who knew Pevin before and therefore be able to distinguish any changes in his behavior. Rand trusts Pevin to carry his banner apparently because Pevin believes in only three things, "The Dragon had been Reborn, The Last Battle was coming. And if he stayed close to Rand al'Thor, he would see his family avenged before the world was de…

  4. The Band of the Red Hand is beginning their first discussion of many in learning the ins and outs of our favorite character, Matrim Cauthon. Through these discussions we will be talking about different aspects of his characters, his doings, and also his doings with the Band and various other factors - all of which will relate back to the Band or Mat in a direct way. If you would like to join in our current discussion titled: Why Did Mat create the Band? (And yes, the question is even up to debate!), please join us:http://www.dragonmou...reate-the-band/. Be sure to read the first post as it will explain the spoiler guidelines I have set in place. Jeannaisais S…

Ive been re-reading the books again and finally on ToM, and ive been wondering about how the Seanchan can be stopped, and im not entirely sure if they can be without a significant turn of events. Im beginning to think that the seanchan are destined to take over everywhere, whether they free the Damane is another matter, im kinda hoping they do stop treating them as slaves, and try to approach something similar to servants etc. There seem to be remarkable similarities between the daishan aiel(sp) and da'covale(sp) and with tweaks in the right direction between damane and the original aes sedai who were meant to be servants (which they certainly are not anymore ) …

For those who haven't seen, I'm rereading LoC. I haven't reread these books in some time, so I may be wrong. That said, seems to me that trollocs and fades don't bother folks in Seanchan land over the Aryth. This kinda bothers me. Do they only attack people on one continent?

I have a theory as to why Min can see auras and images around peoples heads. When Mat first entered the Aelfin world and asked his three questions, the Aelfin looked above his head before answers were given. It was also made clear that the Aelfin much rather prefer those who can channel. My theory is, as Min shows, that the Aelfin can gain much more forsight into the pattern than say looking at one such as Mat. Both Min and the Aelfin can see the pattern, but the Aelfin seem to understand all that is seen where as Min is still learning what the visions mean. My theory is that Min has Aelfin blood somewhere down the line. And it must be a parent, as no record of someone li…

Let me start with an apology if this has been discussed before. I did a quick search, and didn't see any thread titles that definitively answered this, but I easily could have missed it. Can Tam al'Thor be taught to channel? More to the point.. Does the "Oneness" indicate the ability to be taught to channel? By logical extension, does this imply that Lan could be taught as well? So, in Randland, the general opinion has been that mankind has been culling the male-channeler traits out of the genetic pool. However, everyone is astounded by how many men can be taught, (rather than having the ability inborn). And, just as the Aes Sedai have been thrilled by th…

  9. (I tried to make that title interesting :P) But seriously. I'm a little lot annoyed by the lack of effort by Aviendha and Elayne to expand the side of the light's access to ter'angreal and angreal(I have little hope for finding more sa'angreal). The WT has done little in this effort as well, but at least most of the AS don't have access to the particular talents and Elayne and Aviendha. Obviously Moirance recongnized the importance of these items as seen with the large amount of effort put into retreaving items from rhuidean, but she lacked the ability to actually decern what each did. Even Ny shows her forsight in acquiring ter'angreal/angreal, plus we can see ho…

I've been re-reading the series and was considering the way the first three books ended. In all three, the grand finale is a sword fight between Rand and Ishamael. In the first two fights, Rand uses the "normal" sword he inherited from his father, albeit augmented with the One Power. In both cases Ishy sustains serious, one could argue fatal, wounds, but somehow survives and recovers. However, his recovery is not immediate. Throughout TGH he is described as having horrible burns interspaced with healthy flesh that gradually envelopes the burned regions. In TDR he touches his chest as if it still hurts him. When someone is healed with the One Power, the healing is imme…

Anyone else think that this is a massive red herring? I wouldnt be surprised if there was this Inn there that served the best trolloc meat pies in the world. who knows maybe people will taste one and think... Trollocs could be the knew delicacy throughout Randland. Bit of tit for tat as they've eaten humans for millennia. Okay all jokes aside, To my knowledge everyone seems to think its a City, a portal stone, an Aiel clan. But what if it isnt really anything that we could make a guess about as we've not been given the right sort of clues?

It's been clear for a while that the 3 young men, Rand, Mat and Perrin, hold some kind of telepathic connection. my question is, what role do you think this will play? i want to hear peoples' thoughts... do you think they'll just carry on as normal and use it as a means of satisfying mild curiosity of where the others are, or if they're ok... or will they actually hunker down and develop this into a useful tool?

Verin, Cadsuane, Romanda - three of the more powerful Aes Sedai in the series. Raolin Darksbane and Yurian Stonebow - two of the most feared false dragons in history - each could channel. Apropos of nothing in regards to the finale of the series but as a small matter of interest, I find it interesting that such a small area of Randland, both in terms of size and population, has produced three extremely important and powerful Aes Sedai as well as two of what must obviously be the most powerful male channelers since the Breaking. A gentle supposition for this is that the gene for channeling, if one exists, may not have been weened out from the residents of Far M…

Does Rand travel from the blight to Tarwins Gap when he takes the power from the eye of the world from Aignor?

  15. Started by jwood01,

Did I remember this right? In tFoH, Moiraine puts the very powerful angreal, that she now has as of ToM, out in the open on the wagon bed, so that Lanfear would find it and go crazy on Rand et al., thus letting Moiraine push Lanfear into Finnland? She also dragged Rand down to the docks for this confrontation to happen. She did all this because of her trip through the doorway and the rings at Rhuidean right? Does this bug anyone else that it is kind of a "seeing the future" thing? Gitara Moroso's actions e.g., sending Luke north, sending Tigraine to the Waste, etc. kind of bug me too.

Spoilers from the Orbit cover blurb. It's not incredibly clear whether the blurb is supposed to imply that Mat goes to Ebou Dar in the beginning of the book, but you would think they wouldn't skip important things. So, let's assume that it makes sense. There are a few details worth considering. 1. Caemlyn is probably going to be included in the area of the dreamspike at some point. If Grady can't Travel there, then Mat can't do anything about the battle. Or at least, he would have a hard time doing something about it. And they might not even have word of the battle, if no one can escape to spread word about it. Androl might come in there, but will he reach Merrilo…

I'm sure a lot of people pictured characters incorrectly, at least on their first read. I know I did, when I started reading the series at 16. I'd like to know the "mistakes" you made and any funny/interesting insights into why you made them? And was it hard to correct them? Elayne: I keep imagining her as small to average height, gorgeous, curvy (but not quite chubby), with blond wavy hair and still looking 16-ish. I know that she is taller than average and with red-golden hair... but this is one I just can't correct. I think it might be connected to her first appearance where she kind of appeared like a stereotypical spoiled princess age 16. And parts of that per…

Which is very rare by the way. I was thinking, if Robert Jordan was still alive, do you think there would be a couple more books until the end of the series? I think that there would be at least one or two more. You might say that he started building up for the last battle in Knife of Dreams, or earlier, so he meant to end it within a few books. But remember, he only intended the series to be a trilogy originally. He did love his details, and I think he would have stretched it out a bit further. What do you guys think?

So the mighty blacksmith usually gets some hate due to his not so exciting PLOD (plot line of doom), but it seems a lot of people fail to remember how BA he is in some parts. To start off Perrin has the coolest ability in WoT. Yeah yeah Rand being the almight master of the OP is pretty cool and Mat having the DO's own luck and memories galore to help him in various situation is fricken awesome, but Perrin being able to talk and interact with wolves is just so sweet. The way the wolves instantly treat him as one of them and help him in almost every situation possible is just so great. They put their lives on the line and many die just to help Perrin. They take down tr…

So im going through my last and final read through of the books. One thing that i have always wondered about, is where does Moraine go when she leaves Fal Dara that first time? I had a thought this last time, what if she is fact another Black Ajah? We have the meeting with all the dark friends at the begining of the book, and there are Aes Sedai there could she be one. I have always wondered where she went off to with out Lan, and Lan says from time to time she goes off on her own with out him. Verin does the same thing with Tomas, goes off on her own from time to time. Verin even states that she has most of black ajah in her lil book of notes could she have missed Morain…

... say Cadsuane dies (I'm being flippant of course, Cadsuane's death sits on the probable side of likely, and could even be epic). Who gets her ter'angreal? I was thinking maybe Alivia might be a strong candidate. Moiraine would be another, though for mostly romantic reasons, and I still fear a 'too-cool-for-school' problem with her in aMoL... Siuan is a third. She always wanted a life of adventure, and never got a convenient superangreal, so it might sit well on her. What do you guys reckon.

  24. What perspectives of characters do you want to see in AMOL and not want to see that we will most likely get. I dont want to see perspectives of loial, faile and ivan luca, Thom. Although i know we are going to get perspectives of perrin i hate that brandon is so obsessed with him so he will write more then probably what should be. Perspectives i want to see but i dont think we will get much of is Cadsuane (cause brandon hates this character and has ruined my favourite character with his bias hate) siuan (especially when she first see's moiraine) Adelorna Bastine (her perspective leading the green ajah in the last battle hopefully extending a circle past 13)

  25. I know this has been discussed and is explained some where, but seem to not be able to find it. Can someone give me an exact detail on what the eye of the world is. I know that it was pure saidin I think holding those items that it held. But the way they talk about it being legend and stuff, seems like it was more then just that and I missed it. So if someone could help on that it would be great. Thanks. Also if you have the time explain those cords that was running from both Rand and Ishameal at the end of the first book also..

  26. Started by A Rant Lord,

Hey guys, I would like to know if there is even the slightest possibility that we will get a glimpse of RJ's notes. I mean like what he wrote about the Island of Mad men, Seanchan, Shara and all the other things that he wrote about, but which we didn't really get to see in the books. I would probably offer my first bon to get 1 day to study those notes. What about you?

  27. From the orbit blurb - Approaching Ebou Dar, Mat Cauthon plans to visit his wife Tuon, now Fortuona, Empress of the Seanchan. Now my question would be - if he is still with Mo and Thom, would Suldam sense Mo, in her "weakened" state and still want to make her a damane? Now as a damane - would her suldam be able to make her stronger in the one power? Egwene got stronger in certain things, but she was relatively new and full of potential. Mo is like a dried apricot with no juice...I dont think I would want to be holding her leash if she is worthless. Maybe this is how Mat tells his wife to knock off the leashings...

"the Lion sword, the dedicated spear, she who sees beyond. Three on the boat and he who is dead yet lives. The great battle done but the world not done with battle. The land divided by the return, and the guardians balance the servants. The future teeters on the edge of a blade." Seems to me the story will go on after Tarmon Gaidan. I wonder if the ship will be taking Rand to another battle front where the Seanchan will be trying to take over more of the land.
