Brandon, Jenn Liang, Joe from tWoTcast and Jeff from Ta'veren Tees discuss aMoL. I've just finished my first read of the books. I decided to try out audible and listen to ToM. I have to say. The audiobooks are amazing. The narrating is superb, and I feel dialogue comes out really well in audio book. Was wondering how many other people are using audio books to complement reading the books?

Ok, I will try and not be horrible and insulting and express my opinion in a polite manner. Red Eagle Entertainment/Games have promised us the moon. And so far have produced very little. They have promised us a comic of a new spring, a MMORPG, a xbox/ps3/wii game AND a movie. And what have we got? A half finished comic. And now a kickstarter for US to give THEM half a million dollars to make an iphone/android game. See: http://www.dragonmou...obile-game-r387 HALF A MILLION DOLLARS. To be perfectly honest. I’ve had enough. Please post your comments, both for and against. And also answer my poll. Thank you for reading. Kilika.

It makes no sense to me to have Faile kill Masema. It served no purpose. Thousands of people still think that Rand was behind the Dragonsworns' crimes, and Masema's followers still carry out his orders even with him dead. It would have made more sense to have Perrin get him to Rand and Rand publically decry him for killing innocent people in his name and execute him for his crimes.

Does anyone on the "spoiler" forum here, know of anything that is actually spoiler information? Anything that will happen in the new book, or is it all just fan theories with evidence for or against, as per interviews with either of the authors... As far as I've gathered, coming on this 'spoiler' forum, doesn't Actually give away anything solid. just what may or may not happen. I'm not bashing any of you, not at all, I know how fun it can be to pass theories back and forth, but i'm just curious if any of you have any solid spoiler information?

One thing I've never understood in the books is when the Amyrlin departs for Tar Valon and Ingtar along with Rand, Mat, and Perrin leave to hunt Fain and the horn. The Amyrlin tells them before they leave that they must find the horn and keep it from darkfriend hands and explains that whoever blows the horn the heroes will fight for whether they are darkfriends or not. (We've yet to see if this is true or not, but it's beside the point). To me, finding the horn has to be one of the most important things in the story up to this point. Fain and his darkfriends have taken it from Agelmar's strongroom and headed for Carhein. If finding the horn is so important, why d…

I am positive that people have probably talked about this, but if they had then an answer or theory would be cool to hear (these forums are massive and sometimes hard to find threads). Now I keep thinking about the black tower and the stones they are using, and also how Taim was not going mad with him touching the one power. What if the way to be connected to the Dark one and not be affected by the taint was to have to go to shayol ghul directly to have it done. So my point is what if that is what he is doing to the black tower, using bricks or something directly from shayol ghul which gives it a connection to allow him to recruit dreadlords and have them free of the…

I have the Dutch version of the books, so I can't give the exact quote (if you have the English version, please quote it). In aCoS, prologue (my book page 77) Perrin's POV, Taim is entering the circle next to Rand. When he sees Gedwyn, Gedwyn moves his head slightly and Taim grins. Now Taim never even comes to a smile, let alone a grin. Maybe everyone was fully aware of this and I was the idiot that missed it. But I thought it was pretty early in the book where an obvious sign showed that Taim was already having his personal favorites in charge and they have are planning something? Idea's please, and, if it was already obvious to all, give me a double facepalm please.

I may be remembering this incorrectly. If I am, my apologies. Anyway, the way I remember it, Rand sets up the Black Tower in Andor. Why didn't he set it up in those empty lands between Shienar and Cairhien? Seems like he just wanted trouble.

While there might be an Aiel hero or two tied to the Horn, there's no mention of it. As there are only just over 100 heros tied to it, you'd think one of the people who say the heros when Mat blew the horn might have wondered "Hey, who's the guy in the ninja outfit?"

My apologies if this has been covered in depth before, but in my re-read, I was struck anew with the recital of the oath of Malkieri Kings and Queens by Agelmar near the end of The Eye of the World. Most specifically the line: "To stand against the shadow so long as iron is hard and stone abides." Though I don't know the significance (if any), but it can not be coincidence that in the prologue for A Memory of Light "Every scrap of metal in the camp had gone soft as lard." And the device by which Bayrd calms himself (and internally muses upon) is clicking stones together. Almost feels like Verin's "hour of death" - only inasmuch as it's a promise that seemed to…

I haven't really been able to find this answer in the wikis unless i missed it. But in simple words - is using the one power more like a: "Bending" the elements as Aang of "Avatar" fame does it? or b. whatever it is that Goku does with his Spirit Bomb and Kamehameha? I think I got confused because Mat's amulet blocks the power from touching him, but doesn't block the "results" of the power touching him. But shouldn't lightning and fire be "the power?" I'm making lightning out of thin air - which is making it with the power I would think - so therefore its a bolt of lightning power, and Rahvin shouldnt have been able to bolt Mat's as…

What are your most missed conversations/ scenes that happened from a different pov or cut out just before we heard the good part? My most missed conversation would be the dragon reborn with moiraine and siuan talking to verin where she dictates how she found out and she was jsut about to talk about the first clue when it faded out. I would have loved to hear that whole conversation and the plan afterwards with every clue verin worked out. I really wish the information will be included in the encyclopedia that would have been apart of book 3 of the prequels. My most missed scene was a bit tougher most people would say mat vs couladin but i wished to see the cleansi…

In "The Lord of Chaos",chpt 46 "Beyond the Gate" one of the Salidar Aes Sedai,Demira Eriff, is speared by "Aiel" in an ally. She describes one of the Aiel as "a squat fellow with villainous eyes". Aiel are describe as alot of things but not squat ! Who did this and why ? Just to undermine those Salidar Aes Sedai ? This event lead to the "power" showdown with them,Meranas party and Rand before he bolted back to Cairhein. Any thoughts ? I find this a big plot twist. Bashere have anything to do with this ? If this has been answered before I appologise for bringing it up again. just doing another re-read and wondering.

What scene would you like to read in AMoL? It doesn't have to be realistic whether it will be in AMoL. I really would like to see the 13x13 trick from the eyes of the victim. I would like to 'feel' what changes exactly inside that person when that's done.

I will be satisfied with pretty much anything. I love this series and understand how monumental a task forging an end is. My only two requirements are that it not just be obscenely bad and that it not be stupid. A big fear of mine in the ''stupid'' category is that TROPES may come heavily into play. That will not sit well. For instance. I will be beyond furious if, for example: 1 OLVER saves the day at the last minute! Mat says ''I just KNEW the little tyke had it in him!'' 2 The Dark One is vanquished but His last words are ''And I ALMOST got away with it too - if it hadn't been for those pesky kids from the Two Rivers!'' A Trope-filled ending will uspet me. …

The Future of the A'dam I do not believe the leashing of damane is sustainable, whatever Fortuona thinks. Already things are unravelling, and whilst I doubt we'll see a full resolution in the main sequence novels, I think it will have at least begun by the end of aMoL. In this essay I'll try and lay out what the current state of the a'dam is, what will lead to it's fall, and what we might expect to be established afterwards. The State of the A'dam Elayne's Plan: Revelations. In [KoD; 14, Wet Things] a sul'dam named Marli admits she can see the weaves, and immediately demands to be collared. Elayne decides to give her what she wishes. If Elayne is…

Being that the main characters are all good with the bow. Why is it that nobody carries a quiver in the story? Everyone has a bow but now quiver. I don't recall any mention of one in the story but it has been proven that my memory of the story is flawed to say the least. I remember Rand, Mat, and Perrin often talking about fresh bow strings and having an arrow ready. But nothing about only having a dozen or so arrows left. Just seems strange to me.

Sorry for making a new post when I just joined the forum, but I didn't see any topics under which my theories would fit well. I'm sure that at least part of my theory has been posted before, but please bare with me. The way I see it there are three issues that need to be addressed after the LB, assuming the it comes to a Draw or the Light wins: 1. The Seanchan need to be integrated into the Westlands or driven out of them/ The need to let go of the idea of having slaves/damane. 2. The Aiel must have a purpose, we've seen what happens when the Aiel are left purposeless. 3. The Ogier must disappear from the world for a time and the Longing must be cured. …

Like the new rendition of Egwene and Rand on the DM website banner, nice foreshadowing of the tension between the WT and the Dragon Reborn's "Grand Coalition". They look like prime candidates for conflict resolution therapy, but who is brave enough to counsel them and possibly draw the ire of the two most powerful leaders of the Third Age? Counselor: Recognizing the problem is the first step; Egwene and Rand, I commend you for being willing to talk thru your conflict. And I need to remind you that we are in Far Madding and that neither of you will be able to touch the source or channel, so please refrain from dramatic gestures. You two must work together if there is a…

To me this relationship has to be the strangest in the books. They are together for a very limited amount of time. They meet in Tar Valon and then meet up again in Lord of Chaos and then that's it. I do not remember much else until they meet up again in the Tower. The relationship just doesn't work well to me.

I've had 2 thoughts which have bugged me for a while - 1 - That the gay women in WOT seem to hate and distrust all men while in my experience in real life this simply isn't the case. I've had many gay female friends who while they're not attracted to men, don't hate or distrust them and in fact share many things in common (like looking at beautiful girls :D). I wonder if this is because this is how gays are portrayed by the conservative and religious right in media in the US, and thus RJ wrote the characters in this way as it would be easier for US readers to understand the characters portrayed as such. Whatever the reason, to me as a Brit, the attitudes portraye…

does anyone know if RJ if hinted at what political party he supported? I know it's not very appropriate to just ask someone that question unless they bring it up first but I was just wondering if he ever mentioned it? I know in his interviews he said he was a monarchist but I think he was just being dodgy. Now please don't answer with a political rant of your own because I'm sure there are many of us here who have our own opinions but please keep this strictly to the question haha

I've added a poll. I was hesitant at first because I didn't know how to narrow down the choices, but the people replying focused on a small number of characters so I put them in the poll. If you vote for Other, I'd like to hear your reasons, even if it's just because you think it would make a cool scene! I think it's Mat, and that this is foreshadowed by: - Dance with Jak o' the Shadows - Killing Couladin when everyone assumed Rand would have to do it - Needing somebody cool to fight, now that the gholam is gone But I have a feeling this isn't going to be the most popular choice! At least, I'd like to find out.

Hi Guys, Just wanted to start a forum on Berelain. I was having a discussion with my friend regarding her and my friend had some rather strong views on Berelain's "sexually promiscuous" character. I happen to really like Berelain's character, especially considering her background of trying to keep her relatively small country from being absorbed by its larger neighbours. I think its unfortunate that she attempts to break apart Faile and Perrin ( I like them both) however her involvement in the Cairheinien Politics was a huge help to Rand. Just want to hear from you all and your thoughts about her and her impacts to the other characters. Cheers
