I do not know if this has been talked about before, but i haven't seen it, so i am going to start a new topic if it has. I was wondering if Birgitte would still be one of the Heroes of the Horn when Mat sounds the Horn. Would there be an invincible and a normal Birgitte both fighting. Also, if she's not, does that mean that anyone else who has been born into the cycle already cannot be called at that moment?

  2. How angry will everyone be if he killed Rand? I think he has been in too many books to have a small role. I think he will do something pretty big. I do not want him to be the one to kill Rand. He will do something really sneaky I think. Will someone jump in front of Rand while he tries to stab him? Will Rand kill him? Honestly I have no idea what Padan Fain can do, but I really hope it doesn't hurt the book.

  3. Sorry - this is so interesting to me that I want to see what others think without long rambling sentences or arguing back and forth.

  4. I've already dropped it here and there over these past years... but well.. I think this deserves it's own thread. Let's go back to the Age of Legends for a few minutes... There's this peaceful society with probably millions of channelers all around the world. Global One Power usage -both quantity and quality- was at it's peak for so long that society was so well organised, peaceful and good that the world had even forgotten the word for war. Considering how long Channelers live, that's probably thousands and thousands of years. Both Lews Therin Telamon and Elan Morin Tedronai had been around for a few hundred years minimum. So... How come that -all of a sudden…

  5. We all know that when Mat, Perrin and Rand think about each other they get Instant RandVision Access to what the others are doing. In light of that, consider Perrins POV, from Knife of Dreams chapter 12, on page 321 of my softcover book: "She and Mishima exchanged glances. Light, he hoped there was nothing in the prophecies about TWO men with yellow eyes. Those colors whirled, and he dashed them" So...my question to you all is...who was being "summoned" by Perrins stray thought; it seems to me there is a mystery taveren, never before seen because no one thought of him in that light prior to this instance. Clearly it wasnt in reference to himself, Perrin. Ely…

  7. It just seems to be heavily foreshadowed in his TOM epilogue POV, wonder what it could be? Some Possibilities: Olver decides to charge a fist of Trollocs, single-handedly with his knife... Olver challenges a Myrddraal to a single combat duel... Olver casts down his defiance upon the nearest Dreadlord he encounters... Olver attempts to flirt with one of the female Forsaken using his most "winning" smile... I can't help but imagine the following scenario; Mat and the Band with Allied Forces smash the Caemlyn invasion, killing all Trollocs and Fades while forcing the Dreadlords and Forsaken to retreat thru a hastily made gateway. A clean sweep, …

Anyone else realize that Verin had her hot little Darkfriend hands on the Horn of Valere for a solid month (or more) on her way back from Toman Head? I realize she was a DF for all the best reasons. ...But, some commands have to be obeyed regardless of personal intentions. Did she hand in the real horn or has the Tower been storing a fancy trumpet since then.

  9. I'm just curious to see what other people think about this. It hasn't even been hinted at that this has ever happened before, not even in legends, because they are so rare. Is the creator playing a wild card in an effort to have a final victory and lock the DO away for good? or is it part of sealing the prison that occurs every time to usher in the fourth age?

A while back I thought of these two paradoxes, and would like some input on them. paradox 1: three people (A, B, C) get in a fight with the OP. A BFs B. C BFs A to before A BFd B. Theoretically, B would come back. Then B BFs C. Who's left standing? paradox 2: someone who can channel opens a gateway that leads to right behind them, so that they are looking at the back of their own head. They then BF through the gateway on themselves. What Happens? and let the carnage begin. rbs out

I thought it would be fun if some of the more regular posters around here got together to cover the most major unfulfilled foreshadowings in the books in their signatures. But it doesn't have to be limited to the regular posters, because technically multiple people could have the same foreshadowings in their sigs so it doesn't have to be a competition. In fact, if it was a competition, I'd probably have different quotes in my sig, because my Mordred theories are among my murkiest (I think the clues are purposefully murky there). There are foreshadowings that are far more certain to choose from, including the one Suttree just put in his sig (I had that in my sig previously…

  13. Lol if they take off 1 zero from the total number of people in their respective armies then it would be more believable. Is the Westland so lush that feeding 100,000 people would be so easy?

Has anyone ever figured out or had a reasonable explanation for how the Black Wind was waiting for Rand in Carhein in The Great Hunt when he tried to follow Fain and get the Horn of Valere back? It was also waiting for him at Stedding Tsofu when they tried the Waygate there too. I know Aes Sedai can be wrong about things they believe to be true, but Verin says nobody can order Machin Shin to do anything. Wasn't it odd that it was waiting for him at both Waygates when he was trying to get to Toman Head? When Rand opened the gate in Carhein he heard the 10,000 insane voices whispering and screaming and in the back of it all, a constant buzz saying "Al Thor, Al Thor,…

Hello fellow WOT maniacs! I'm doing a very slow re-read (for the 20th time) so that I'm ready for the final book in January and it's all fresh in my mind. Cannot wait for the ending!!..... Anyway, when Rand, and company are chasing Fain and his darkfriends after they take the horn back from Rand in Carhein and leave through the Waygate at Barthanes manor they cannot follow because Machin Shin is waiting there for them when Rand, Hurin, and Loial open the gate. As we know, they head for Stedding Tsofu to ask the Elders if they can use the Waygate there. Before they are allowed to try going into the Ways, the Elders bring an Ogier in that was caught by the black…

Ok people since I got a talking to from Luckers, I am really scared and hence decided to start rather innocuous thread. How did any of you started reading WOT and how did you DM? Well I'll start with my story. I live in Lahore, Pakistan. I guess you would have heard lots of great stories about my country and our religion and you will be rolling your eyes and everything. All that has nothing to do with WOT or how I got addicted to it, so lets skip it. I graduated from my university in Sep 1995. In those days I used to be addicted to books. Before that fateful day I had never read fantasy. This genre always made me think of Arabian nights with genies, flying carpetsand fant…

  17. there are a few things I have been turning over in my head lately, and i was wondering what everyone thought, just for fun. First, Character A balefires person B, to a time about 15 minutes earlier. Character C gets mad and balefires person A an hour later. my question is, how far back would A have to get hit to un-kill B? Second, what do you think the people with B from my last question saw at the time he was burned back fifteen minutes? Third, what do you think would happen if a bloodring got blood other than its owner's on it? Nothing? Would both people split the boost/penalty, like Asmodean and Rand split the CK in TSR?

  18. I'm doing a re-read and I'm up to the part where Rand and Mat finally make it to Caemlyn and the inn where Thom told them to go after Whitebridge. Rand meets Loial for the 1st time in the Library. During their 1st meeting and 1st conversation Loial thinks Rand is an Aielman. He even gives Rand the quote about "To spit in Sightblinders eye on the Last day". When Rand didn't react, Loial asked if it was some of his Aiel humor because they laugh at the strangest things and Rand had no idea what he was talking about. Also, there was a soldier (Masema?) who hated him on site for looking just like an Aielman no matter how many times they told him he was from Emonds Fie…

  19. I've recently reread the entire series, and one thing really jumped out me this time is that at times the characters or series itself doesn't factor in the ramifications of how long people are living. Like if Elayne goes through Eqwenes process of receding her oaths and 'retires' as Aes Sedai she'll live to be well over 500-800+ years long with her strength in the power., yet half her POVs as queen have her making quips about what would be good for the succession when by all accounts with her strength in the power that won't matter for centuries (since even if her kids can channel her own 20~ year the headstart is nothing, and if they can't they'll be dead centuries b…

I read them when they came out but only recently got the audio books (gotta love Kramer/Reading!) Anyway I notice audible has these little musical...motif's and I iwas curious if all 13 books have them. But more importantly if there were fully developed pieces behind those mptif's, what are they and where can I find them?!?! Thanks =)

  21. The idea for the wheel of time (I mean the actual wheel which ages turn on) comes from The Yugas. The Yugas are a Vedic idea (think Hindu) and somewhat correspond to the Greek idea of a Golden Age, Silver, Bronze, etc. You can also match the Mayan calendar up with it (as long as you're not the type who thinks that means everybody dies). The three Ta'Veren correspond to three different periods in mankind's history: Perrin - shamanic. One with the land. Personal deities. Mat - Odin. Pagan gods - organized religion but polytheistic. Rand - Christ - Monotheistic. One God over all. That's why they are all three Ta'Veren but Rand the strongest. That's what makes t…

OK I'm here but there's not much action at the moment or wasn't when I started so here goes. I'll try to back things up but if you want exact quotes and page numbers go look it up yourself, blame it on my health. I have enough trouble typing I'm not fossicking through books on top of that. I don't think Rand vs. Moridin is really going to happen, or not as everyone is hoping from the leadup over the last 13 books. Hearing chorus of groans and screams already. Bear with me. Please read on and then tell me with logic (not just with no-way read my blog answers 'cause I won't do that and I don't care how many lemons you've had for breakfast - said with tongue in chee…

I recently finished my reread of the first bit of WOT (up through Winter's Heart) and I realized something rather strange about Elayne and Rand's relationship, other than the fact that there are three girls lined up for Rand. If we look at Elayne's timeline (I just used Encyclopedia WOT), the first time Elayne and Rand meet is when he falls into the garden during TEOTW Ch 39, 40. That encounter is not only extremely awkward, rightly so i suppose, but lasts no longer than say 2 hours, 3 tops. The two have no further encounters, though both think of each other a bit during TGH. The only possible encounter was after Falme, when Rand was unconscious and Elayne was drawn t…

"The lion sword, the dedicated spear, she who sees beyond. Three on the boat, and he who is dead yet lives. The great battle done, but the world not done with battle. The land divided by the return, and the guardians balance the servants. The future teeters on the edge of a blade." This was said by Nicola. I gather this to mean Aviendha, Min, Elaye will all survive the last battle. Rand also survives. The land divided by the return. Seanchan and the dragon Peace split the land. Most likely on existing lines and that the "guardians" or "seanchan" balance the servants, ie Tar Valon. However, the last part is what I find interesting. Do we take that figuratively? Or …

  25. If Siuan and Leane were stilled again and then Healed by a male channeler, would they be Healed back to their original power levels or only to the later level? Has anyone ever asked RJ/BS about this? I'd be curious to hear the answer because I always thought this was a scene we might see.

  26. So during my re-read of WH, Niall's assassination, that message from Tarabon seemed extremely important to him (assuming it wasn't just about the Seanchan). Is there any indication I've missed about Balwer being able to read it before Valda had a look and discovered that it was wine soaked? What else could it be about besides the Seanchan?

  27. If this was covered previously, feel free to delete it or ignore. I just felt I had to express my opinion now (after 13 books or so).

Is it bigger than the Pacific or about the same size? After reading about the Land of Mad Men. The numbers come out to about the same size in my head if not a little bit bigger. And the distance from Seanchan to Randland is about the same distance from New Zealand to Easter Island about 10,000 miles/16,000 km. Not a small thing to sail that far with a small amount of islands in the northern reaches of the ocean. The Sea of Storms comes out to be the size of the Indian Ocean. And I would assume that the ocean between Shar and Seanchan is the same size as the Atlantic. Once again Jordan set it up to be Earth again. Question is where did South America go?

Just curious because to my knowledge it is never covered in full, but Min foretold about the broken crown, Bashere then mentioned something about the Broken Crown as well. So my question is: Is the Broken Crown, the name of Saldea's Crown or is it something else? It could just mean an early foretelling of Faile, but im beginning to wonder whether he might somehow inherit the crown of Saldea...

I was reading tSR again, and came across something one of the Sailmistresses said. [tSR: The Wavedancer] Those who once ruled clearly refers to the Seanchan, and them being driven back for the first time is clearly talking about Falme. The wording 'for the first time' strongly implies it will happen a second time. (Unless it already has happened a second time and I am just blanking, boy that would be embarrassing...)
