I have seen a lot of people saying that they think Logain is going to evict Taim from the black tower, but i dont see how this can possibly happen. Taim holds a superior advantage at the Black Tower, he and his can travel (I assume), and they also have manned the walls. Everyone then points out that Logain will have the help of the Aes Sedai, but i think Taim has the Black Ajah(where else would they have gone?), so circles aren't an advantage, and they are totally outnumbered IIRC, in both male and female channellers. I also think that Taim is Morridin's tool, so you can throw in angreals and what not, but even if you don't, Logain still loses.

  3. All right, I'm not a frequent dragonmounter and I haven't read every thread on every topic, but i had to post this... Did anyone else see the awesome irony in Berelain complaining to Faile that she had been "promised Perrin" and that she knew she had to form a close tie to the Dragon Reborn as part of the protection of Mayene. That she has been focused on Perrin for that reason and that once she gave up Perrin she became worried about how to protect Mayene (except through Perrin's leadership and connection to the Dragon). .... But then she goes and falls head over heels for Rand's half-brother, who happens to be the Uncle of the Dragon Reborn's children th…

Does anyone have any thoughts on when Lan's charge happens? I was mostly wondering if it is the same day as Rand's meeting or if there will be time for someone to come to his rescue. It seems like an waste to have him die needlessly.

  5. Let me preface this by saying that I am new to posting. I don't know if this idea has been explored before. I am sure that many of you know a whole lot more than me and will be able to poke holes in my theory. However, I figured I would throw it out there. What if one of the major flaws of Callandor is that it enables the user to access the True Power. It was made flawed. One of these flaws is the lack of a buffer against over drawing the One Power. What if in addition to this lack of a buffer it also enabled the user to access the True Power. Although we have not seen any Forsaken mention this, we have seen Forsaken actively pursue Callandor rather than the more pow…

Hi there, So, I've just been re-reading ToM for about the 1100th time, just reached the part where Mat's off to see Elayne and the rumours got me thinking. One in particular caught the attention: Page 285 At this point, Mat is thinking the Band are mostly to blame for the "true" rumours spread about him, such as the one about him defeating Couladin. However, the story behind this (about his visits to the Eelfinn and Aelfinn) are only known to a very select few. It seems unlikely to me that anyone could have simply made this up, as the details of it are so close that if you replaced "death's domain" with the "Finn's domain", it'd be true. Who knows? Rand ma…

Hello! I've been to dragonmount a few times to get a glimpse of other people's impression of the books, this is my first time posting however, so please excuse me if this has already been brought up. Now on we go: I'm curious as to how the sealing of the DO's prison will happen, not so much just how they do it, but rather what the outcome will be. Its been mentioned more times than I can count over the books that time in the WoT Universe is stuck in a loop, and that the things we are currently reading about have happened before and will happen again, what with ages coming and going etc. Now, what's been itching me is the dark one's prison, so say for instance that…

I have disliked Min ever since I started reading this series a few years ago. Every character has irritated me at one time or the other, but usually they then do something totally awesome that allow me to forgive them and realize that while flawed, they have a point and a purpose in the series. Min, however still seems completely useless to me. Visions of the future that always come true are not particularly useful and can be misinterpreted. Without the ability to change the outcome of future events, I don't really see the point of the visions. She had a lot of potential to be an excellent, powerful character. She is strong willed, intelligent, and rational. I …

  11. I think it is commonly accepted that these are one in the same, but there seem to be oddities. Perrin has never felt the "Unseen Eyes". I dont remember him ever think about them. Could this mean the unseen eyes are the wolfs? Another one, Perrin never sees people dream themselves into the dream until he starts hunting nightmares. He is always in Tear, or his camp or the two rivers, and never sees anyone? I dont remember him ever see someone random pop up, then disappear. The last I have off hand is things changing randomly. Things disappearing when you pick them up, or tents moving their flaps back and forth. He sees his camp all the time but doesn't menti…

  12. So lets set the stage here. It's pitch black out. Nobody can see there hand in front of there face. Lan points out the Whitecloak camp to Nye and tells her to go cut the picket line ropes. Nye can barely see the tents in the camp let alone the picket lines. Perrin is inside a tent with two lamps on having a sit down with Byar. Byar wants Perrin to escape and be killed. Wait a minute..... Two oil lamps in the tent? Wouldn't that cause the tent Perrin is in to be lit up and easily seen from a distance? Not to mention the camp fires in the camp. Because after the put the Whitecloak cloaks on the stand in the shadows out of the campfire light waiting for Mor…

  13. I've been struggling with this question for a while. Assuming the Dark One's ultimate goal is to destroy the Pattern and knowing that Moridin eagerly awaits this end (he laughs joyfully when he tells Rand that this is the Dark One's goal in Chapter 15, I believe, of TGS), why doesn't the Dark One give Moridin access to enough True Power to unravel the Pattern? If Rand can draw enough One Power through the Choedan Kal to do this and, theoretically the amount of True Power is approximately equivalent to that of the One Power and the only limit to how much one can draw is what the Dark One allows, I see no real reason why this would not have happened already. Could anyone he…

Instead of rereading the wheel of time book I just bought the audiobooks and I noticed that the Towers of Midnight was mentioned in The Great Hunt. Does Brandon Sanderson gave the ToM title for the book or it was orginally from Robert Jordan? Does this already been a topic? if yes please point me to the right topic, It would be much appreciated.

Hello everyone, I've registered today in hopes of letting you know how much I've enjoyed this series and what it has meant to me. In 1992, after high school graduation, I joined the Army and eventually enlisted for 12 years. During this time, I didn't really put much time into reading, as I was more focused on learning, and perfecting, new skill sets that the military teaches us; As well as, enjoying everything that comes along with being single in your teens and twenties. During the later years of my service, I found that my stamina and other physical attributes weren't really up to par anymore and eventually found out thru the hospitals that my kidneys had failed a …

  16. So just as the title states, what do you think would happen to the creator if the dark one defeated the dragon and fully escaped his prison. Yes we all know its extremely unlikely, if not completely not happening that the creator takes a hand in preventing the DO's release, but obviously the creator had enough sense to lock away his polar opposite at the moment of creation, would he do so again if the DO got free and started ripping everything up? Or would the creator be imprisoned when the DO destroys the pattern? as we could look at it as, if ones free the other can't be...or alternatively would the creator just keel over and die? Seems like this is a question for philo…

Hi My 1st post here, just found this place after completing my 3rd re-read I was just wondering, since I looked through the 1st 15 or so pages of threads in this forum, is there a list of the original Forsaken, and who is dead/alive/ressurected and as who? I could probably work it out for myself, but I'm saving the next full re-read until sometime next year when the final book comes out

  20. I think Adam Baldwin would make a great Lan in a movie adaptation. He's get that really quite, stoney "don't mess with me" kind of vibe. Through a top knot and armor on him and imo we got the ideal Lan. What are your actor picks for Lan or any other characters in the series?

The books make out that Nae'blis is some kind of BIG DEAL! Lots of power, Power, and POWER. Priviledges. Perks. Bowing and scraping all around. The job ( or at least title ) that all the Baddies want. The title they're willing to kill anyone and do anything to achieve. Let's look at what being Nae'blis does for you. At the beginning of the books, Ba'alzamon is the de facto Nae'blis. But he has to get burned to a crisp - twice - and finally stabbed through the heart in Tel'aran'rhiod so that he requires a whole new body before he officially becomes Nae'blis. While just the de facto Nae'blis he issues strict orders that Rand is to be kept alive. NOBOD…

  22. I'm not sure why this never crossed my mind before, but it sure did this weekend while idlly breezing through Shadow Rising for the trillionth time. It wasn't a battle. It couldn't have been in self-defense and they had no proof (since he WASN'T) that he was Shadowspawn. Yet, they sure killed him, alright - and with a knife in the back, no less :-( Uhhh - HOW? this is not a completely original theory but has been hanging about my mind and not mentioned for a while as well as seeming relevent to a number of threads that talk of this prophacey and of callandor. Rand tried to force a prophecy with narishima retrieving callandor, but this fills...unfinished, if callandor is the 'fearfulblade' that has so much significance. And as one theory suggested (sorry I don't know who first suggested this) it may BE the new prison (see: all that his is may be contained) then the person who FOLLOWS AFTER would be the future dragon, or the arch type king who draws the blade from the stone. drawing blade from the stone was one of the first …

Robert Jordan did an amazing job of creating a world that varies so much based on the eyes of the character we see it through for any given chapter. We all have characters we like and that we dislike. I am curious to know how the likes and dislikes vary with age and gender. If you do not mind giving this information please state your age (feel free to put adult or something like that if you do not want to put the number) and gender and then the characters you like and dislike with a brief explanation. Please do not post without this information. Also this is not to become a hate thread. Its really not even about the characters, it is more about us as peo…

  26. Hi y'all new to the boards and new to the series here. I was wondering about how the forsaken are presented. In other words do they have dialogue scenes and have individual personalities? Sort of like the death eaters in harry potter? Or are they not developed at all like the nine riders in lord of the rings? I'm about a third of the way of the first book. And I'm hoping to meet them as fully realized characters

I asked the following questions in the "simple" thread and got no answers. So here we go. Saidar channellers can 1) completely conceal their ability to channel 2) throttle back and give the impression being weaker channelers than they are. Examples, Graedal at the LCeansing, Mesaana in the WT and Semirhage with the Seanchan. They can however, be detected by tools like Nyn and Cad's ter'angreals. Saidin channelers cannot apparently be detected from jst being in the presence of another channeler. So the masking as such is not necessary. A saidin channeler who's not holding OP cannot be detected. Nor can their power levels be gauged except by a "sense of strain" i…

  28. Perrin's strenth in TAR has developed to incredible levels as of ToM, levels that rival the big 3. Slayer and he have been hunting one another in TAR throughout the series; probably 50-60 pages had been devoted specifically to their TAR fights, nevermind the talking, taunting, etc. Frankly, I've started to lose interest in their fighting. It's the same, mostly, over and over and over. But it has shown Perrin's growing experience in TAR, the evolution of his abilities. I think the logical extension of this is for him to do something seemingly impossible. I think in AMoL, he could split Luc and Isam. It would make sense; Slayer has had a peculiar connection to T…
