In the Wheel of Time, a Wolfbrother (or Sister) is someone that develops a relationship with Wolves and gains some Wolfish abilities. This includes enhance sight and smell, the ability to tell emotions, and joining the Wolf Dream (Also known as Tel'aran'rhiod). But, to the Wolves that a Wolfbrother grows attached to, our names are not correct. I would never be known as Christine. That doesn't express the image that is needed. The emotion that a Wolf feels. Perrin is known as Young Bull, because he is young and strong. Elyas is known as Long Tooth, because of the long knife that he carries. The Question I pose to you is this : Hopper and his pack…

Welcome everyone! I thought that I would take this time to introduce people to the peace and tranquility of the Ogier stedding here at Dragonmount, but first things first, off to the Sung Wood for some refreshments: http://www.dragonmount.com/forums/topic/21920-ye-olde-sung-wood-pub/ One of the oldest and most popular of threads, The Ye Olde Sung Wood has existed through the many turnings of the Dragonmount's Wheel of Time providing joy and ale for all who enter. .

We all know how the False Dragons were caught: they caused trouble, made lots of noise, and then made a fuss when the Reds showed up. We at the Kin believe if they had just followed these (somewhat) simple routines, they could've gotten through it like we did. C'mon, the Reds never found US! :) We thought we'd share these tips with you to help you make it to the Last Battle, too! *Little medical note: We're not doctors or Gray Ajah. A few might be Wisdoms, but most of us are just people who just want to find a way to reduce stress and find a happier us. As such, please use your best judgement when attempting any of these strategies and call a professional if you'…

Hi, everyone :) I hope I'm posting this in the right place, as I wasn't able to create a new topic on the writer's board. Well, as the title states it I am in need of help with my newly created rpg forum. I've been creating a new fantasy world on my own so far, and doing it on my own is a bit heavy since I have the university as well -_- Anyway, the world is called Avalos :) I've got the basic timeline down and the names of all the countries so far. And a few other ideas floating around. I've also started on one of the major religions as well. There's also four guilds..Religion, Mage, Warrior, and Technology guild ;) The world is a bit like our own but more li…

I've seen biggest jerk, most tortured soul, grearest villain, now it's time to tell us who your favorite characters are and why. Dexter Morgan; dude kicks butt. Has a disturbing sence of humour (like me), a brilliant if cynical view on society and people, and in many ways is someone people can connect with on a level they're not comfortable with. Who are your choices

Not talking about villians, dark gods, badass evil wizards, or even bad guys...just A Holes. Jerks. Smug, condescending SOBs, lol ...Books, Tv, movies...its all fair game!!! Ill start with Bashir from DS9. Another on my list is Couladin from WOT. How bout Littlefinger from ASOIAF? ... Bruce Wayne is kinda a jerk - at least in the new movies. Ser Jaime Lannister of ASOIAF. Bauden from Malazan. Maybe, for me, the biggest jerk EVER is High Prince Roelstra (from Melanie Fawn's Sunrunner novels). Although, in that same series, Andrus runs Roelstra a close second. Who'd I miss? Fish

I just finished re-reading the Belgariad for the first time in about 20 years. While I don't hold it in nearly the esteem I did when I first read the series as a teenager, overall I enjoyed re-reading it. Eddings' writing obviously has some flaws- notably one-dimensional women (which gets even worse in the Mallorean) and the penchant for certain characters to repeat the same phrases ("You're impossible" "Isn't it though?", etc.). Despite those shortcomings, I still think the character of Silk still holds up. In Castle of Wizardry, we are shown a poignant side of Silk as he faces his disfigured mother, along with his unrequited love of Porenn. This poignancy is in …

So, my New Year's resolution is to experience new things all year. I am trying to come up with 12 things that I have never done before and experience each of them before 2014. I have about a half dozen ideas so far but I need more! If you have an idea for something new I should experience in 2013 put it down and if I can I will go for it. For your reference, I live in the Washington D.C., USA area so an idea of something to do that takes place in say, Germany, would be difficult to accomplish. Current List: 1) Make my own candles - CHECK!!! Did this on Jan 1st. 2) Become a father - (expected checkmark on Feb 4th) 3) Spend a weekend at the track racing motorcycle…

I've seen the movies and enjoyed them, but not as much as everyone else. I think its because for some reason I feel like the movies don't take me into middle earth. Obviously I cant start a new series or book before I do multiple reads on aMoL But after that, is it worth it to read the books? When I am watching the movies I can't stand Frodo, he is just so annoying but I love the other non Frodo and Sam characters.

Interesting article from our good friend Wert. http://thewertzone.blogspot.com/2012/02/brandon-sanderson-plans-36-volume.html Would like to hear people's thoughts on this. To call it ambitious would be an understatement. Does anyone think he can actually pull it off?

I'm a relatively new WoT fan compared to a lot of people and am currently on Knife of Dreams but I went out and bought A Memory of Light the other day and I'm having a hard time resisting reading it before finishing off the other books, I know most of the major events in books 11-13 from reading up on characters etc. so I wouldn't be too confused about things, but do you guys think I think keep going with the series or just get AMoL over and done with and then read the others?

Some of you know that my community and synagogue (Oceanside, NY) were hit pretty hard by Hurricane Sandy. There's now a really easy and painless way you can help me and my community rebuild. Yeshiva University is donating $10,000 in religious texts to an institution that had its library wiped out by Sandy, with the lucky winner determined by Facebook vote. My synagogue is on the list, and could really use your help. Please visit http://www.facebook.com/seforim/app_228910107186452 and vote for the Young Israel of Oceanside (Look for "Oceanside", please - there's also a "Young Israel of Long Beach" on the list). And if you could pass the word along to your facebook …

Captain Kirk and Indiana Jones are great characters and dashing heroes, but they don't fight inner demons or face personal tragedy after personal tragedy. For me, the most tortured souls, those who what they endure just twists my guts, are: The Doctor Andry (from Rawn's Sunrrunner novels) Anakin Skywalker The Gunslinger (Roland Deschain of King's Dark Tower) Rand al'Thor (this poor guy...there are just no words...). That's MY five most agonized SOBs. YOURS?? Fish

They might listen to this...Tarmon Gai'don is here...time to get the boys back together. (If there's anything incongruis with the book, please let me know so I can correct it...I appreciate it). I am about 1/5 of the way through AMoL. These past few weeks have been kind of exciting...I've felt about as old as I was when I started reading them, which was about 20 years ago. While I was basking in the anticipation, I heard "The Highway" man by Johnny Cash (a song that is about a person being born over and over again into various livelyhoods). It occurred to me that the song was SCREAMING to be about the Wheel of Time. I thought, "I was an Asha'man" and th…

Way back in the primordial history of 2001-2004 I was real active in the WoT book forums that existed on Atari.com. They had those on account of the WoT game which I never played. Those forums were awesome though, and coming up on the conclusion of this series I was feeling naustalgic and wondering if there were any old timers like me still hanging around? Say hi! Beers in the fridge and the nuts are all over the boards.

I was fortunate enough to get to attend the Minneapolis book signing tonight and it was great! There was, however, a problem. When my turn came to get my books signed I got to say, "Thank you." Unfortunately, even as I said the words my heart sunk a little. It fell short. Not wanting to hold up the line or embarrass myself by gushing, I took my books and moved on. I spent the entire long drive home excited about what had just happened but also dreaming up how I could make that "thank you" support the feeling behind it. So what do you say we help each other? I don't think I'll be alone in this. I think other people at these signings can't fully express their…
