  5. I just wanted to know what is your favourite book (beside books from WOT series). Mine is Arch of triumph by Erich Maria Remarque.

  6. Started by KakitaOCU,

Good morning, all. Was writing on Leigh's topic about impacts WoT has made and it reminded me of an AOL Chat based freeform roleplay back in the 90's. So here I am, curious if anyone on Dragonmount was part of it. Be cool to see if anyone else stayed with the series or larger community. In referrence to this, I was Ryanus at the time. Created him after being inspired by the concept of the Gholam and wanted to have a light side construct. Ended up one of the guys with an ADR Title on his handle. So yeah, any others from that particular pasttime about?

  7. Started by Cody Windle,

So from a general feel of how things go with the Dragonmount community, I'm wondering if anyone has read the Xanth books and what peoples thoughts on them are. Those were books that I loved and hated at the same time. I like the witty humor along with the puns, but the puns could at times get extremely annoying. My favorites in the series would be A Crewel Lye, Dragon on a Pedestal and Geis of the Gargoyle. What are your thoughts on the series as a whole?

Ok so I haven't read it for a while, but during the story the world stage changes a few times (in 2-4, 1 obviously covers the same time as Enders Game) and I was wondering what people thought of the political stage he decides on? For example, when Russia expands into Europe, Britain leaves Europe and sort of goes it alone, but doesn't really do anything. The US stays out of it (I think - long time since i read it) and redraws maps to sell. I feel that this is probablt a fair assessment of the UK (especially given the current situation), I don't think we'd stick in Europe to be de-facto ruled by Russia, but we don't have the military strength anymore to do anythin…

  10. I don't know if this has been done already so if it has I'm sorry and could you please send me to where it is. Now who is the absolute best swordsman/woman in the fantasy world? I would have in no order... al'Lan Mandragoran: Wheel of Time. Kessligh: A Trial of Blood and Steel by Joe Shaphard. Tomas and maybe Prince Arutha ConDon: From Feists books.

  12. Okay, this is going to be a bit of a non-review because you probably already know if you are going to be getting this or not. Basically, it's a collection of full-colour maps of Westeros and Essos, the two continents which form the setting for the Song of Ice and Fire novels by George R.R. Martin. Either you're going to go, "Hey, awesome! I'm all in!" or be running away screaming for fear of being infected with Nerditis. The map collection comes in a smart but somewhat non-durable folder. Don't put anything on top of it for long, as it really cannot support much in the way of weight. There's a single pull-out piece of paper with marketing speak on it (more or less the…

Hey, I am only partway through the second book, so no spoilers please, but Allrianne just showed up to be with "Breezy." I seriously thought Breeze was gay. I definitely pictured him like Nathan Lane. What's up with that?

  15. The year is 2017. The USA is still embroiled in foreign military adventures, New Orleans has turned into a toxic wasteland and Blu-Ray has only just manged to become the dominant entertainment storage medium. A six-year-old girl, Amy Belafonte, is abandoned at a convent by her struggling mother. One of the nuns, Lacey, a former refugee from a war in Africa, realises that something is amiss with Amy, and that she is more than she first appears. The United States government agrees. In the mountains of Colorado they have established Project Noah, an attempt to develop immortality ("So all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years,") using twelve death row inmat…

So, I got a little bored tonight and reading through the D&D board I though "Hey, what if we had a Dragonmount election?" So that's pretty much what this is. Post your nominations, and get the nominee be seconded, then they have to accept. Then I'll add them to the poll, and we can see how well they campaign and who wins. The winner will be named the honourary arch-prime-premier-president-monarch-dictator of the Grand Unified Republican Kingdom of Dragonmount. I'm not even sure if anyone is actually going to be interested in this...

  17. Alright, so some of you know that I'm a special education teacher. I work at an extremely small, private school for kids with behavior disorders. Our kids are super smart, but because of their emotional volatility they aren't successful in traditional settings. Anyways, we got entered into a contest for a classroom makeover from Glidden paint. Our building is super old and is just beat to hell. On top of that, a pipe burst yesterday and there is water in every classroom and the multi-purpose space in the basement is destroyed. We really need the remodel. Our school invests the tuition money in things like my salary and rent. Extra stuff comes from grants like this. T…

Okay I have heard about mafia in chat and had it briefly explained to me. Then I started looking in the Mafia thread and I was wondering if you use a program or something to play the game? All I see in the threads are random stuff and votes. I think I have a good understanding of how the game is supposed to be played. So if anyone can answer my question I would appriciate it greatly .

  19. Lots of spoilers here for Mistborn, especially... Just finished the Mistborn trilogy last night and wow, wow, wow, it's so good! Here's what I kept thinking about, though. How much better Elend and Vin's relationship was than Perrin and Faile's in WOT. There are so many parallels in their stories it is easy to see how E&V do it better while P&F just fail. Both V and F have proven themselves to be smart, capable women and skilled warriors, but while E trusts V to take care of herself and know the right thing to do, even if he doesn't understand it, P acts like F is a helpless idiot. I mean, let's be honest, I know a lot of people don't like F, b…

I'm working on a concept for a Wot tattoo that I intend to get inked on me in the coming year, just on the concept drawing stage yet! I was wondering, how many of you on DM have a WoT tattoo? Post pictures if you can! P.s. if a great drawer/artist/whaddyacallit is intersted in helping me out it would be great!

  21. I'm halfway through A Feast for Crows (ASoIaF), and that's it for now. I'm just not feeling it right now, but I will definitely continue the series. So be calm. ;P But I'm urging for another fantasy series, and I have come across these two first books; The Lies of Locke Lamora and A Blade Itself. The latter was my first find, and the reviews made me really excited, but then Locke Lamora came up - and gave me the same amount of excitement! So please help me decide which one I will start reading first! :)

  23. Hi! I just re-read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (it was the second time I read the book) and I feel the need the vent my steam regarding it - and some of the earlier books might be a smidge included. Hopefully some of you have read it (hehe) and can come with ideas/whatnot/thoughts on this. Here goes: JK Rowling kills the wrong characters!! I have never read a story where it feels so out of place, the choices the author's made regarding what characters that will die, and it makes me itch. 1. In book 6 She kills off Sirius Black. Ok, Harry's Godfather and a really decent bloke. That felt unnecessary - there must be other ways to incapacitate a literary c…

  25. I didn't see any recent poll of this sort and am just curious where people are coming from/reading WoT around the world. If the mods think its too much along the lines of displaying personal info, sorry, you can take it down and I won't be hurt ;-).

I just picked up a new one the other day and I'm excited about it still so I've been bragging haha, so I was just wondering if anyone else out here likes them too.( not sure if this is in the right spot or not trying to get to know people on here though so I took a guess.

Who would you want as the HoH from our times? Real world people only, so no Rambo or James Bond. We could have a poll, later on, after auditions are over. I'll go first - Theodore Teddy Roosevelt. I'm no American, but that is one awesome dude. P.S If one of the moderators don't object, I'd like our times to be defined as post 1000 AD. (!?) P.S.S If this should go to Fiddlesticks, the moderators may do so. Or someone can post or PM me on how to do it. Thanks.

Hey everyone, this is my first post here so forgive my noobness (and if this has been brought up before). Has anyone ever read any of the Shannara books? I've read through a good portion of it but it is on hold because of Wheel Of Time. I actually just started on A Crown of Swords.
