Here are the first two chapters of Mistborn: The Well of Ascension. I hope you enjoy reading my first read through. Chapter 1 Yay! I get new blurbs about, what I hope to be, someone perspective other then... whatshisname, the last Hero of Ages... I like these. Interesting that Elend was able to get into power. Maybe the Kelsier crew realized they needed nobles to actually maintain a government. Perhaps they kept the Obligators too? That would be cool. But they most likely did not. So they haven't found the Atium yet? That either means it is hidden within Kredik Shaw or the Lord Ruler was burning a lot of it to do... something... maybe prevent the worlds en…

There was a get well card that was posted online for RJ. I try to watch it often and cry every time I view it. It has suddenly disappeared. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of that video? It's about a 1-2 minute video with beautiful music and stunning visuals.

Hi everyone, I'm happy to announce the release of my first book, featuring "The Shadow," which originally appeared in the first Dragonmount Anthology. The book is called Umbral Visions, and it is comprised of two horror novellas: "The Shadow," and "The Key Ring," which won the 2009 Preditors & Editors award for Best Horror Short Story. Novellas are notoriously hard to get published, so I feel extremely fortunate to have both been published in the DM Anthology and to now have my own book. If you'd like to learn more about the book or buy a copy, please visit my website www.garrettcalcaterra.com, or just visit Amazon.com. I also have historical fantasy nov…

This could get moved or even locked... So, I'm in Lansing,MI and a friend of mine completely flaked out and stopped reading our community's favorite topic. Yes, what a douche. but at least he's reading George RR now, so all is not lost, hahaha. Just wondering if there were any fans in the greater east lansing area that I could talk to, w/o a computer as a medium. I'm not trying to solicit new friends or creeping on anyone, just looking for a peep in the area to chat with. My buddy lasted thru 10 books, but he's a quitter. If this is a 'faux pas' for asking on this site, then maybe Luckers or someone else can direct me to a site where locals can meet up to chat. I mean…

The Choedan Kal are the two most powerful sa'angreal ever made. Created during the War of Power, one can only be used by a man and the other only by a woman. The male statue is currently being uncovered close to the village of Tremonsien, near Cairhien whilst the female statue is half-buried on the Sea Folk Isle of Tremalking. In order to wield the One Power through the giant statues, the channelers must use Keys in the form of two smaller access ter'angreal. Lanfear claimed that a man and woman using the Choedan Kal together could challenge the Dark One, and maybe the Creator himself. That statement has obviously not been validated but it supports the n…

So I have something to confess...I have never read a book (besides in school) in were a female is the main character. Especially never a fantasy book. It just puts me off. I just feel like I can't relate. Am I the only one who is put off by this? What am I missing out on?

Im praying it wasn't deleted or locked. I know it was getting slightly heated, and that we must protect Harriet, but most of the criticism in that thread was accurate, fair and civil. Nothing like the thread on Amazon about this situation. Any updates? Anyone get a chance to smack Harriet around concerning this situation yet? Fish P.S. - The last line was 100% Tongue-in-Cheek (if youve been following the comments on Amazon, you'll get it, lol) ;-)

Open Call for Freelanders Researchers The Freelanders RP Group is looking for researchers to help with the creation of a resource website for the various nations and cultures from WOT-Land for Role Playing purposes. The research will be mainly antropology in nature. Note: anyone can apply, you don't need to be a roleplayer. 1. Crazy thing I've just learned few days ago - Olson Scott Card's editor used to be Harriet McDougal. For those of you who don't know who Card is, he's the author of Ender's Game and everything that followed after that in that universe. Personally, I like him a lot though he tend to be preachy a bit here and there about religion. Just wanted to throw it out there - the world seems to be a small place. I wonder if Brandon Sanderson knows Card as well.

I just found out that George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones has been made into a series on HBO, as "the Sopranos in Middle Earth." Although I'm hoping that synopsis is a joke, I'm looking forward to reading the book and then seeing the cinematic interpretation. I've already put it on my Netflix queue, and meanwhile where is any adaptation of the Wheel of Time? Jason Denzel's interpretation for the book trailer was awesome, and I'd like to see him creatively involved. Are Red Eagle are just dragging their feet? Of course I don't want a film or TV series to be a rushed piece of crap, but it looks like Martin's story has been put into pictures quite rapidly, and I …

I know there are some guys out there who will be able to help me on this one. I am a total simpleton when it comes to PC Terminology etc, so please keep any advice to as basic a level as possible. I have a Canon Powershot camera and I have found a firmware hack that will give this point n shoot camera an almost professional performance. This involves creating a bootable SD card formatted to FAT16 which contains the firmware so that the camera isn't affected in any way. This would be simple if my card was < 4Gb as, apparently that is the maximum for FAT16. Therefore I need only create a partition of about 64Mb to contain the bootable data and the firmware for moddin…

Here's the link http://wordbutchersworld.wordpress.com/ I've only got the intro post done, I plan on getting a few posts up soon. After that, about 1-2 posts per week. Hope you enjoy it!

Seattle, 1880. Sixteen years ago the inventor Levictus Blue built a machine to tunnel under the Klondike ice to help mine gold. Unfortunately, the 'Boneshaker' apparently malfunctioned and laid waste to parts of central Seattle, exposing vents of a strange volcanic gas which infested the city and turned the people it touched into the shambling undead. Now the centre of the city is sealed off whilst life returns to normal in the 'outskirts'. Levictus's son, Zeke, is determined to clear his father's name and ventures into the sealed off part of the city to unearth the truth behind the Boneshaker incident. His mother, Briar, pursues him and they find a city of crumbling …

I didn't realize that even overseas, that Towers of Midnight was going to be released the same day. I pre-ordered it from Amazon.. so will I get it on the the release day, or will they ship it that day? Maybe I should just cancel my order from Amazon or did they already probably charge me for it?

Each email was "We are shipping at the end of this month".... Can anyone give me an update since I can't find anything out? If I have missed a thread, please point me toward it. I am new here and am not sure where everything is yet. Thanks! Moyais

The movie was ''The Book of Eli'' and I give it a big Thumbs Up. Also, the first 30 minutes of the film pretty much mirror the first few chapters of ''Gunslinger'' (The first book of the Dark Tower). I hope Ron Howard watches this movie first. Fish
