I've been reading a book series I think you might enjoy. You should check it out sometime. Its called the Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind. He just came out with the last book. And by enjoy I refer not to book burnings but to book readings. Sincerely, Your good friend, Barmacral.

I have a PSP and i cannot get it to play videos. Other than that it works fine. I have downloaded some short clips from the official PSP site via the browser, and they work fine. However, if I try to download anything else, it doesn't even see it. I put them in the 100ANV01 like it says in the manual, and make sure that they are MPEG4's, conveting them usung an online converter, but nay, apparently it doesn't like non-PSP videos Please help Thanks in advance

Umm..., i'm not really sure where this should go, so if its not here, please move it to the correct forum mods anyway, on to the actual purpose of making this thread. I think we should have a fanfiction forum here. This would be a place where people who read/write fanfiction could post links to stories they find and want to share with other people. We could also do a best-of-the-best subsection. Say someone posts a particularly good story, then that person could make a thread, possibly in yet another subsection, and include a pollfor people to rate the story. If it gets a certain score, it could be put in the Best-of-the-best section. I know from personal exper…

It's an interesting word is it not? One thing I did out of loyalty was start a myspace page, because my ex fiance Tina had her brain taken over by aliens and now difficulty communicating in any other way. She asked that I get a myspace page so that I could talk to her and I have done so. Initially I planned to stay on the DL with my myspace page, because I have no desire to go there ever and certainly didn't want to become one of those people who hangs out on myspace. Plus the Tom guy weirds me out, I just want him to leave. Then something happened. A myspace hooker asked to be my friend. Nice girl by the name of Annette. Now you may not know this about ol' JD…

As related by George RR Martin on his Notablog, a number of SF fans and writers have begun a campaign to help into the research and treatment of Alzheimers. Terry Pratchett was diagnosed with the disease late last year and last week donated over half a million pounds (a million dollars) to the cause. SF writer Pat Cadigan has launched the official 'Match It For Pratchett' campaign, which aims to raise the same amount of money (or hopefully much more) for the study of the disease, which shockingly receives only 3% of the funds that cancer research does. The official Match It For Pratchett website is located here. You can buy T-shirts with the profits going to the camp…

Yes. I'm a newbie. Hopefully this is an appropriate board to post this. My question is what authors should I try now that I've got into RJ? I guess, first of all, I need to clarify that I prefer the "high fantasy" sub-genre to sword & sorcery kind of stuff. I've read: George R. R. Martin (whom I loved) Terry Goodkind (sucks, IMO) Brandon Sanderson (who shows a lot of potential) R. A. Salvatore (meh, not my favorite) Tolkien (great writer, classic literature, still hard to get through at times) C. S. Lewis (enjoyed the religious themes) Who should I try next?

The most eagerly awaited (and most frustratingly delayed) novel this side of A Memory of Light. Well, it looks like we're finally going to get it at the end of this year. Check the details: GRRM's website. All the latest info on the book as revealed by, erm, me. WARNING: spoilers containing, including a full 'cast list' of all the POV characters in the book, some of which are meant as a surprise.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/books/03/18/obit.clarke/index.html The end of an era in Science Fiction has come. Arhur C. Clark has passed away at the age of 90. This was a man who shaped a whole genre of books in his lifetime. He will be sorely missed.

I am an aspiring writer, hoping to write a fantasy novel/set, and was wondering if anyone else is writing/have written/are going to write a book? If you are what genre, and detail where you have got inspiration from, what your favourite authors are and why, and so on and so forth. I personally have gained alot of inspiration from RJ since reading Wheel of Time. Not the sort that gives me ideas of what will happen in my story, but more about how I want to write it. One of the best things about WoT in my opinion is how the PoVs are done. When it is with Rand, for example, you see through Rands eyes, hear through his ears, etc. You are reading Rands thoughts. There…

Apparantly no one really uses this board. Now most of you would say "Justen, no one uses them so they should be useless to a attention seeker like yourself." And you'd be correct. I'm like a gleeman, telling tales to the largest audiences I can find. Why waste my effort on trying to be funny in a vacuum? It brings up the interesting riddle 'if Justen is amusing and no one is around to laugh will he cry himself to sleep that night?' The answer is of course yes. Really not much of a riddle then eh? Now the rest of you, not worried about my attention seeking are probably more concerned with why I've decided to invade your tiny little corne…

Why not eh? Like I said I'm off this week. So I can manage to roll out a report today. I suppose I could in theory write up a story, but I'm not really in the mood this morning. Generally before I start any report I ramble about a topic that's on my mind. I will do so now. Why are people in so many orgs? I never really got why anyone would want to be in more than one (two maybe), but then again I'm a loyalist. You'd still get the same DM experience but I would think the ties you would form would be closer. I mean, the people I interacted most with in my previous life weren't even in my org, I had to go to them. Plus it'd simplify it a bit, it's confusing how…

So I have been playing Oblivion for awhile, and I have noticed some things from WoT( It might be just me or coincidence, but seeing what kind of game it is it wouldn't surprise me if someone in development is a fan of Robert Jordan). So one is that a potion that drains ALOT of your Magicka(mana, ect) is called the Potion of Severing. Second,"Warder" is a rank in the fighters guild. The third is the best, the leader of the Thieves guild is called the Gray Fox, now I wouldn't have thought anything of this, but last night I was reading The Shadow Rising, and I got to the part where it said " Thomdril Merrilin, known as the Gray Fox by some" or something very similar to that...a…

As we wait for the conlusion to WoT, or George RR Martin to stop writing trash and get back to his bread and butter, gotta read something. I'm looking for some suggestions. During the last 6 or so months Ive read the following fiction: Steven King: The Dark Tower 1-7 (Great start, limp finish) Stephen Baxter: Manifold Trilogy (Hurt my brain with physics, but ok) Greg Baer: The Eon Trilogy (Good, but to Ben Bova) Ken Follett: World Without End (OK, but not Pillars of the Earth) Robert Ludlum: The Prometheus Deception (Spy meets world....the same as all his books) Jeffery Deaver: The Twelfth Card (Bone Collector minus 20 bones) John Grisham: The La…

A topic all about pets :-). Who do you have, post pictures to! I'll start off. I have a betta fish named Dancer, he's pink/blue/white/black and he's gorgeous, I love him dearly. I have a red albino cornsnake named Fluffy, he was my very first non-cat/dog pet, and he's been with me for nearly 3 years now. I love my fluffy <3. I'm getting a special little Bearded Dragon tomorrow, his name is Percy. He's small right now and had his tail bit off when he was younger, but he's awesome and is calling out for me! I'll upload pictures tomorrow when I get Percy :-). ---------- Fluffy http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f339…
