I've been wondering if anybody has ever compiled a list of all the various countries of randland and listed the overall temperment and attitude of it's peoples. I've never really found any particular list and I've always wondered where I personally would fit in to the world.

quite literally, though a couple years. just curious who's still trollin around on the forums here. some of you might remember me even: Maglin jos'Vinn Captain General Of the Scouts Band of the Red Hand DM 2005. since my username has a special character in it, i can't connect from anywhere but home, and hopefully dm doesn't 'reset' its active connections and 'remember me' connections, else i'll have to come up with yet ANOTHER name. agh.

  3. Locus Online are now postulating a June 2008 release date for A Dance with Dragons (Book 5 of A Song of Ice and Fire) by George RR Martin. Locus only release dates, even tenuous ones, when they get information from the publisher, in this case probably Bantam US (remember that the UK publishers, HarperCollins Voyager, usually publish the books a month or so earlier). This is in line with other information, particularly that gleaned from Pat's Fantasy Hotlist when he spoke to GRRM's editor (that the manuscript was expected in autumn/winter for release a few months later). As usual, take nothing for granted until official announcements are made, but this news is neverth…

  5. The Anthology & more I had a bad month last month and didn’t get the anthology short stories out till this month. Deadlines are hard to keep when everyone does this for free and on their spare time. I will try for a mid-December launch, but it really depends on when I get all the reviews in, [...] http://www.dragonmount.com/OurCommunity/?p=88

It is yet again time for Empy to ramble a little about that Organization that you forget about because it is near the end of the listings…. no… not the Wolfkin… ok so they have it a little worse and my oberservation is not that valid. Fine! Anyway…. if [...] http://www.dragonmount.com/OurCommunity/?p=87

Why does morning have to come so early? Can't we push it back to some sensible hour, like noon? I've spent the last 6 years or so working midnights, and yesterday I started a new 9-5 job. The pay and benefits are great... only problem is that I'm not used to falling asleep at night. Was up at 6am yesterday, and I couldn't fall asleep until 3am last night. Was up at 6 again today on 3 hours of sleep. I wonder how long this is going to go on before I pass out right after work and sleep clear through morning. How do you handle such schedule changes?

I dont know if any of you play the Total War games or not but I thought I would post here and see if anyone is interested. The Total War series of games by CA in Australia are turn based strategy games that have a great battle feature built in. In fact the History Channel used this engine to do some renactment stuff. The games are highly moddable, and I am starting a mod based on the WoT series that will have a custom map, custom skins and scripts, and characters all based on the series. As this is a forum dedicated to the WoT I thought I would get some input from people here. Even if you arent interested in playing the game feel free to drop a few comments if you ha…

  10. Changes to the White Tower Organization. We’ve had quite a few transitions in the last few months, and I’ve found myself without time to post them. I’m taking advantage of a lull to do so now. First off, our longstanding Head of the Browns has retired. Karana Majin has been Head of the Browns almost continuously since 2001. She is [...] http://www.dragonmount.com/OurCommunity/?p=86

Someone else posted this over on Wotmania, but The Hobbit's 70th anniversary just passed. It was published on 21 September 1937. More here. I first read The Hobbit in 1995, a few months after reading The Lord of the Rings. I was a bit older than its intended audience (I was 16 at the time) but quite enjoyed it. A bit like the Rings it starts off very jovial and gets a bit more serious (although never as serious as Rings) as it goes along. Thorin was a great character, the Bilbo/Gollum face-off was pretty tense and disturbing and the Elven king (later revealed to be Thranduil) was a bit of an arse. Interesting if the film version ever gets made, although I'm not …

Ok I have to ask a question, I don't care if you are all gonna hate me but I have to ask this question. I just found out today about RJ's passing. I was mortified, sat stunned in my chair staring at the computer screen for about twenty minutes....will A Memory Of Light ever be published?!?!?!?!?!?! Can't face the possibility of never getting to read book twelve of the wheel of time! I'm sure that there are many out there who feel the same way.

Admittedly, I am driven to post here, becasue I have an agenda. I have noticed a recent negative turn in the attitudes of many longtime posteres to the WOT discussion boards, myself included. My agenda here is simple and falls under the maxim of childhood, "If you can't say something nice...." So without further ado, I propose this thread be used to build up our fellows. I like RobertAlexWillis, because he is thoughtful about his opinions, and because he is conciderate of others feelings. I like Luckers becasue he knows alot about the series, and brings excitement to the discussions. I like GentledBen because, I've NEVER read a mean or sarcastic comment …

Just finished the book and posted a review to my blog here. The mighty city of Estorr has expanded its power and influence over the surrounding kingdoms, forging over the course of 850 years a vast empire known as the Conquord. The supreme ruler of the Conquord, the Advocate, believes that the Empire must expand and conquer to survive. With the empire barely recovered from the subjugation of Atreska, and with bushfire wars along the northern border with the small kingdom of Omari continuing to rage, the Advocate ill-advisedly orders the Conquord's forces to march north-east into the vast neighbouring kingdom of Tsard. Meanwhile, in the sleepy, isolated village o…

Can someone explain this to me? I'm not sure what it means. ;) Attention item > not put the player near hot thing or under the sunshine, excessive rust, damp, rainy water. Meanwhile, stressed by heavy thing will also damage it. Put it on the uneven surface or in the too much hot airproof train will damage or reduce the lifespan of player Hmm, I guess I sort of understand. ;D
