I'm curious if anyone has written any music inspired by Wheel of Time. I'd love to hear. My wife asked me to write one inspired by WOT, and because I love her, I did.

Pedro Niall died early and we never witnessed his renowned prowess as a great captain. Aside from Mat obviously, I submit that Rodel Ituralde of Arad Doman is the greatest of the 5 captains. Please comment.

  3. Here's a little exercise in seeing what fellow posters tastes in not just characters but also authors and books are. My tastes and preferences will be glaringly obvious, even though I have read many many authors other than those whose characters are included here. I've been making these ranking lists just for fun lately, and I have a whole slew of them for different categories, but for now let's just talk about favorite Fantasy characters. Perhaps I'll try other lists another time. So for now, how many do you know, do you like? Any you don't know? Here are my Top 20 Favorite* Characters from Fantasy Literature 1 Matrim Cauthon - The Wh…

  4. This one is a little bit different, as it pulls characters from not just literature but film and televisions as well (I just couldn't come up with that many characters from SF literature alone that I loved enough to put on this list, so I added the other two mediums). Here goes! 1 Ozzie Fernandez Isaacs - Commonwealth Saga by Peter F Hamilton 2 Kara Thrace - Battlestar Galactica (Ronald D Moore version) 3 Gaius Baltar - Battlestar Galactica (Ronald D Moore version) 4 Paula Myo - Commonwealth Saga by Peter F Hamilton 5 Jean-Luc Picard - Star Trek: The Next Generation (and more)*** 6 G'Kar - Bablyon 5, Babylon 5: Legend of the Rangers 7 Rodney McKay …

Well, my wheel of time game uses ideas from the offical game (the campaign included in the book), and from a fan made one based on D&D 5 (for classes and races) but all mixed with a homebrew system of my own. Also, my players know nothing about wheel of time, so I have had to teach them some things as we play. But it is the Void. Void is...a different kind of tabletop game. The Void isn’t like most tabletop games. It can change and evolve over time, into many things.Jessica is the character I’ve used since it began, and I’ve had many players come and go since it began. Essentially, the way the game goes is that the character you use, can travel to many worlds and can ke…

Hi everyone! I was a huge WOT fan growing up, and even had a snake green ajah as sedai ring. I met RJ in person at a book signing in 2000 and have a signed first edition copy of eye of the world hardcover. I would like to sell it to someone that would appreciate it more than me, but I'm not sure what it is worth. First printings are selling for $500usd, but mine is not first printing. Any thoughts? -carly

  9. Dragonmount is launching a Patreon in order to provide even more incredible Wheel of Time content. Here's why. For 21 years Dragonmount has provided what I think is top-notch WoT content. (That's more than half my life!) The vast majority of it has been self-funded, or done with the assistance of ad revenue, online store sales, or (on occasion), member donations. In addition, a large portion of my earnings from my own book sales have also gone to fund this grand enterprise. (I'm happy to do it!) But with the Wheel of Time TV show coming soon, along with a major boom of new fans, my volunteer staff and I have stepped up ou…

  10. So I don't like glasses because they allow little peripheral, and I don like contacts because they hurt my very close up definition. And I dont want lasers because they have risk of side effects. So i settled on wearing one contact lense in to see clearly and keeping that eye closed while reading to read clearly. Unfortunately this has led to me develop double vision when wearing lenses in both eyes oand no lenses in either eyes. Has anyone else here ever had a similar problem?

  13. JordanCon is quickly approaching, and our eagerness is beginning to show! This week's interview is with Tim Lewis. He tells us about "Switch," his addition to the JordanCon Anthology. First, can you tell us about your writing? Is this your first published work? This will be my first published work! I’ve been writing for decades, but only for myself as one of many hobbies. Richard Fife’s idea to create short stories for the anthology inspired me to finally stop procrastinating. The publishing process is very daunting and this was a tremendous opportunity to break into the writing world. As to my writing, is “chaotic sugar induced child at a pupp…

  14. I wanted to take a break from our normal memes to talk about a new reader who’s taking the Wheel of Time fandom by storm. Christopher Green started reading The Wheel of Time in January. His father is a huge fan, and Christopher started reading after his father suggested it to him. Around the middle of his read of The Eye of the World, Christopher began to post real time updates about his progress and his reactions on the Facebook public group Screw You All, I Love Wheel of Time. The journey has been amazing so far, and many fans are reliving the joys of a first read through Randland. Some of Christopher’s first posts into The Great Hunt: (…

  15. According to a Twitter poll from Amazon Prime Video, The Wheel of Time television adaptation is the most anticipated series. (IMAGE TEXT: We have a lot of shows that started as books, but which UPCOMING book adaptation series are you most excited for? #WorldBookDay; 20% Good Omens, 26% The Expanse, 18% The Lord of the Rings, 36% The Wheel of Time) While fans of the show rejoice, and agree, it's pretty amazing that Wheel of Time could top some of the other anticipated series. Bleeding Cool states how they "were NOT expecting Wheel of Time to top that list." Understandable, considering The Lord of the Rings has been hyped up. As has Good Omen…

  17. JordanCon 11 kicks off this Friday afternoon! I can’t wait to mingle with other Wheel of Time fans. It’s like a family reunion getting to see familiar faces and meeting new additions. If you’re able to be in attendance, don’t forget to check out the Anthology signing session on Sunday morning at 10:00! Our last interview is with Sarah Sover, talking about her submission “A Faerie Tale.” First, can you tell us about your writing? Is this your first published work? I write fantasy hybrids, but this is my only short story so far. My debut novel, a comedic fantasy about grog-chugging trolls pulling a perilous heist, releases in Septembe…

  18. For our next entry in the first ever JordanCon Anthology—So You Want Stories?—I got to talk to Alexandra Hill about her submission "The Bakery: Prelude to a Fairy Tale." First, can you tell us about your writing? Is this your first published work? I read really broadly, and I think that translates into what I write; I’ve either finished or am in the process of stories in a number of genres, including sci-fi, mystery, fantasy, memoir, and so-called “literary fiction.” Fantasy feels like home, though, especially in atemporal or modern settings. I love how the genre lets me ask “what if…?” not just of my characters, but of the world in which t…

  19. With JordanCon fast approaching, I want to take this opportunity to give a preview of what the 2019 anthology, So You Want Stories, will entail. First some background information. This is the first year JordanCon put out a call to past and present members, seeking submissions of speculative fiction short stories to feature in an anthology—with proceeds going to JordanCon Charities, which get donated to the Mayo Clinic. Twenty of the submitted stories were chosen, and some are written by authors we know and love, including Brandon Sanderson and Jason Denzel! Some, however, are relatively unknown. Leading up to JordanCon, I will feature one of the lesser known authors eac…

  21. Welcome back to another exciting edition of "Meme Monday." Today we'll look at some of the woes that plague the Dragon Reborn in his relationships. We covered one of the major negative impacts on Rand's girl troubles a few weeks ago. But let's add another log to that fire. And still on the subject of his love interests, Rand has an awful lot to deal with to keep his sigfigs happy. And let's not overlook Rand's not-romantic relationships. He is a ruler, you know. A king. A chief. He makes a lot of important decisions. The memes this week come from Kevin O'Bryan of DMEN Designs. If …

I've been meaning to highlight this craft for awhile. For last year's JordanCon, I was very excited to finish my sul'dam dress. It turned out beautiful, and I adore the silver lightning bolts. But a sul'dam without a damane isn't complete. So, with long-time Dragonmount member Hallia as a willing participant, I got to work on crafting a damane dress. I started with four yards of a gray poplin folded in half. This gave me 72 inches in height and 60 inches in length. That's a great amount of material and the price for poplin is so reasonable! With simplicity in mind, I wanted to do as little cutting and sewing as possible. I cut t…

Welcome back to another Meme Monday. This week's victim is Lanfear, our favorite crazy ex-girlfriend. She first appears as Selene in The Great Hunt, and seems a sweet, sympathetic noblewoman on the run. However, things escalate quickly. And if that weren’t bad enough…. Odd to think that not much needs to be added to Lanfear’s actual dialogue. At least she serves as a good example of how not to act. The memes this week come from Kevin O'Bryan of DMEN Designs. If you have memes you want to share, email me at frontpage@dragonmount.com. View full news item

  24. This past week, Dragonmount's second-in-command Jennifer Liang participated in an Ask Me Anything discussion for JordanCon! The questions asked range from favorite con memory: Jenn: When I got the Chodan Kal at opening Ceremonies last year. I was so shocked and touched that y’all did that for us. To "what's your favorite thing to do at JordanCon" (asked by Jimmy, her husband): Jenn: Bother you. She also talked about this year's JordanCon theme: Jenn: This year is “Shai’Con”. We decided to embrace our darker natures this year. So expect an evil twist on the usual things like opening ceremon…

  25. This year, JordanCon is trying something new. They put out a call to all JordanCon members, past and present, and asked for donated stories to compile into an anthology. Twenty were selected to be featured in 2019's edition, entitled You Want Stories? The list of authors is a great one, featuring Brandon Sanderson, our own Jason Denzel, Seanan McGuire, and Charles E Gannon. The others contributors are: Terry Beyer, Foster Bridget Cassidy, David B. Coe, Blue Cole, Gerald L. Coleman, Milton J Davis, P. Andrew Floyd, John G. Hartness, Alexandra Hill, Robert A. Hilliard, Jr, Faith Hunter, David Alan Jones, Tim Lewis, Jana Oliver, Morgan Smith, and Sarah J. So…

  26. Started by Mashiara Sedai,

Welcome back to another "Meme Monday." This week, our focus shifts to concepts and ideas within Randland. There are some pretty humorous things that happen in-world. Like, how Bayle Domon is always around to rescue whichever of the main characters is in need. Another globally acceptable idea in Randland is that innkeepers should be plump. And of course, there are the rather unorthodox ways of the Altarans. I wish I could live in Randland. I'm sure many of you wish you could too! The memes this week come from Kevin O'Bryan of DMEN Designs. If you have memes you want to share…

  27. Ok, so this topic is for people who've either read the series already or who, for one reason or another are not concerned about finding out major plot points. IMO, if you haven't read it this could save you a lot of grief, but just know either way that I'm gonna talk about the ending of the series as well as other important things. Also, this post is going to be one huge rant, so if you haven't the patience I understand. I'll try and make it entertaining, because I genuinely want to understand how anyone could think this story cohered successfully, how anyone could read the final three books without immense disappointment, and finally how anyone could possibly feel sat…

  28. The Way of Shadows is the first installment of the Night Angel trilogy by Brent Weeks. Weeks will be the Author Guest of Honor at this year’s JordanCon, taking place April 26-28, 2019. The story follows Azoth, an orphan living on the streets of Cenaria. Azoth's character development is fascinating since he starts as a relatively young child living on the streets in the Warrens, the seedy underside of Cenaria. We watch him go from child to young adult under the tutelage of Durzo Blint. Durzo is not the best of influences, but he is all Azoth has. Azoth's character arc almost seems to be the reverse of Blint's which makes the interaction between …

Here are some more Wheel of Time memes. I can't get enough of them! This week features our third favorite ta'veren: Perrin. When the series starts, I loved Perrin more than Rand and Mat. He's the only one who kept his morals after leaving the Two Rivers. As he grows, he's strong, dependable, unyielding. Well, there is that one factor that keeps many readers from adoring him... Unlike most fans, I'm not put off by Faile's captivity by the Shaido. And I don't dislike Perrin's chapters when he's chasing her. For me, it's another facet of his personality that I love. He is dedicated to her and he'll do anything to get her back. If …

As a millennial, I love memes. Give me Wheel of Time memes and I'm as happy as can be. With a plethora of social media sights to cruise, you can find just about anything in meme form. So starts our new humor blog "Meme Monday." This one particularly speaks to me because my mom just started reading Wheel of Time. She finished The Eye of the World a few days ago and started The Great Hunt the same day. When we talk, she asks me questions about characters or places and I feel like this. It's too deep to answer a lot of what she wants to know without spending hours on the phone. I feel this thinking about the TV show. Whi…
