This is a personal project of mine. Ata, if you want to make it a CH project that is fine with me. I have been planning on doing a character database for the Dragon Reborn Portal Stone World. This database will be used to create and categorize characters in the their RP. I have the beginnings of one designed specifically for the Warder's Divison there. Using this template I'm looking to expand it to the whole division in one foul swoop. You do not need to know how the RP is run, or even RP to help me out. This is a Web Design and Developement Project. Here are the basic requirements: XHTML and CSS Standards Design PHP and mySQL experience (or willingles…

You know you're from Oregon if... (the * are next to my personal worsts) You feel guilty throwing aluminum cans or paper in the trash.* You use the statement "sun break" and know what it means. You know more than 10 ways to order coffee. You know more people who own boats than air conditioners. You feel overdressed wearing a suit to a nice restaurant.* You stand on a deserted corner in the rain waiting for the "Walk" signal.* You consider that if it has no snow or has not recently erupted, it is not a real mountain.* You know the difference between Chinook, Coho, and Sockeye salmon. You know how to pronounce Sequim, Puyallup, Issaquah, …

What happened to this site? I've said this before, but I'm not really good at this whole computer-internet thing, so I can't seem to access the summaries and all that. I hate to think the worst and that they've been abolished somehow. Did I mistype something. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

There are three active meets being planned on the DM Meets board right now. We're currently planning a summer Euromeet for those of you in that area and a long weekend in Las Vegas in April. I'll be at the Vegas meet, along with my husband. There is also a So Cal meet being planned by Leanne Sedai. It looks like its becoming an annual tradition here, so if you're in the area, you should look into it.

We opened up a new WoT discussion forum today. This one is meant as a very structured forum for those people who seem to have the entire series memorized to have very detailed, in depth discussions. Its sort of an experiment for us to see if people will enjoy this sort of thing. The General WoT discussion board will stay as it is.

Prologue The wind blew harshly from the south, over the endless icy peaks, over the short fletch of clear, iceless sea, and into the costal town of Stonewatch Perched on top of a rocky outcrop overlooking the sea and the wall of ice barely one hundred miles off. The town grew up around the fort, there to protect the scant patch of clear water at the cape of ice, the bottom of the continent. It was there for defence not for comfort how, but nonetheless a town gradually grew up beside the fort until it was a sizable city. It was through this city that the icy wind blew up from the docks up through the narrow streets, and up to the fortress. In the courtyard stood perhap…

I was just wondering what the reason was for people's names here on DM. Did you think long and hard about it, or more kind of go "Oh hell, I need a name, quick!" Do you regret your choice at all?

So, I know this latest comeback from me hasn't been the most celebrated (though probably the most spectacular *g*) and I'm officially, sincerly apologizing for making a butt out of myself. Call it a moment of weakness (oldies might remember I never apologize) or a moment of strength (could The Don be growing up?)... or just plain old holiday spirit. Today has been a great day for me so far and I've gotten a few unexpected acts of kindness, so heres one in return. I'm sorry if I hurt anyones feelings cause I said a lot of things I shouldn't have. So especially Owen, Sirayn, James and Ata... its not a ploy or trying to make myself look good, seriously, even if you don't bel…

there are a couple of "i need a new series" threads around. here are a couple of non-fantasy books that i think you all should read. Fight Club (probably one of the best books of the 20th century) choke - not as important as fight club, but damn good. Battle Royal - before it was a movie or manga it was a novel. it is on a level of description that rivals RJ. its twisted, but its great. watchig those kids snap makes me smile way down in the bottom of my heart. a brief history of time - its rather tough to understand everything in it, but the bits that you can are really neato. if youve read these and agree please post. if youve read these and disa…

I've modded a Chatzilla stylesheet to show user avatars in IRC. Here's a screenshot: I know most of Dragonmount's IRC users are from Shayol Ghul, but there may be others. If you want your avatar added, leave your usual IRC username and an image here. If you have Chatzilla and want this style, PM me and I'll send you the files. P.S.: The IRC server/channel I'm talking about is irc.shadowworld.net #dragonmount; the old (no longer official) IRC channel.

Anyone in here a fan of Joss Whedon's Firefly and Serenity? I actually didn't find Firefly until about two years after the show actually went off the air. But boy was I hooked after I got hold of the complete series on DVD. This has to be some of the best written and funniest dialouge I have ever seen. I so recommend that if you havn't seen this, you should and do it fast. Heck just ask for it for the holidays. Sad to think we may never see more Firefly again. But at least we will be getting a new story from Joss next year that is part of the story. It will be in comic form. Also, if you have not heard about it already there is a fan produced documentary out there…

I have to admit I am hooked! I know they are for young adult readers, but I am enjoying the heck out of these books. I just find them so cute and light-hearted and the characters are funny and adorable. Let me know what you think, even if it's just that you read them in middle school or something. Kar

so has anyone read the Magic series? as far as fantasy series are concerned they are the trash fantasy...kinda like romance novels, but some of the characters are really good. The Thran, and The Brothers War were fairly solid books. The editing wasnt perfect, but the point got across. I also enjoyed the nemisis book and the first two ice age books. I refuse to read past apocolypse since Urza "dies" and i just dont much care about anyone else other than Urza...and Yawgmoth. though, like the bible, the series is written by a number of different authors, so there are dicrepincies, and contradictions throughout.

I can't view some threads, like the Qhatvug thread on the Black Tower boards, clearly stated as having 2 pages of posts, when i click it i get a "no topic matched your search" thingy or resembling. And on other threads i can't view the latest post is it just me this is happening too? -.-

There was a minor hiccup in some maintenance Kevin was doing to fix some of our prior issues. Unfortunately the information from Sunday to when he fixed is gone. This leaves many topics and some threads having issues. Moderators you will have to take care of these by deleting the topic from the moderation panel (don't know where it is, go to the bottom of the board and use the You can moderator this board link). If the thread is fine but has issues on later pages. Try adding a new post and if that doesn't work for the new page you will have to restart the thread over. Sorry for the inconvience. Mat

This looks promising. Trailers and behind-the-scenes documentaries are now up here. It's rather bizarre that the Discworld books, which aside from Harry Potter are the biggest-selling fantasy books in the world today by a living author, have taken nearly 25 years to get on the screen, but there you go. It's on Sky One in the UK on Christmas Day, has a great cast (David Jason, Ian Richardson, Joss Ackland, Marc Warren) and I think they're talking to the Sci-Fi Channel about showing it later in the USA. Great stuff.

So who else watches the new BSG? The few doubts I had left about it were erased by last night's episode, which ranks as the finest 44 minutes of television I've seen in the last decade. I quite liked Rome until they decided to show the Battle of Pharsalus off-screen (then whined about how expensive it would have been, whilst the BBC did an amazing CGI version of the battle for its recent history series on about 1/20th of the budget) and started messing around with history too much. Lost I remain a fan of but am getting increasingly annoyed with the lack of resolution to many of the show's mysteries. Haven't the producers learned from the mistakes of The X-Files? Neverthel…

Our website can be found here: http://www.diminutive.org/tinkers I am working on updating it. I am currently planning on scrapping the old membership list and starting anew. If you'd like to be added to our list, please post here or PM me or Will :) Instead of putting up contact info for the members, I'm just going to link to your website and/or your DM profile, so if you have a website, post that, too! You do not have to be on the member list to be a Tinker, however :) Anyone who self-identifies as a Tinker is a Tinker! We will also hopefully be holding periodic chats, like we did before, so please post what times would be good for you. Chats will be announc…

I am currently working on modifying "Mage: The Awakening" to work with the magic system defined by RJ in the WoT for an individual d10 game I have been asked to storytell. I was wondering if anyone has ever compiled a list of which elements are combined to do each casting act defined in the books. For instance, I know that Nynaeve uses all five elements in her version of healing and that they are used in different proportions, however, there are many more casting acts that are defined in the books. If it comes down to it, I suppose the best way to do this is to reread all 12 published books and determine the aforementioned information, but it would be much easier …

So I don't know that it's Kosher to talk up other sites on here... BUT, we need the word of mouth. *sigh* And it's not like we're trying to recruit anyone AWAY from here. :P So. There's a pretty new WoT Community being formed. It's a bit different than here, very relaxed, and new enough that we don't even have all the Ajah heads filled, never mind any novices yet! There's also the option to be a Warder, soldier, or Citizen of the city under the Queen. I think it'll be a neat site! I'm the Head of the Greens there. It'll be great to join if you want a small community, to be instrumental in helping to form a new community (We don't even have all positions filled, any clas…
