I only recently started watching this and... Man is it good.

I've been watching it since about 2018.  I almost stopped in 2020, didn't think that season (4) was as good, but season 5 has pulled me back in deeply.  It really is a very well written and acted series.

 I feel like the last 4 episodes of season 5 have been a bust. Nothing is really happening, feels very anticlimactic compared to previous seasons. 

I was sceptical at first, but it really is good. We are somewhere in s3 now, and trying to avoid the s5 spoilers. They kept showing the trailer as we started watching! Lots of yelling and grabbing the remote to skip the trailer ensued. We are still blissfully unaware.

 

 

That is hands down my favorite series that is on Amazon (hopefully WoT will become my new favorite).  I binged that one hard and would watch as soon as each new episode came out from this last season.  Love the concept and the characters.  Hats off to those actors, especially Shohreh Aghdashloo.  She just chews up her scenes.  And I've always been a huge fan of Thomas Jane.

 

I certainly need to pick up the book series now.

What did everyone think of S6E1?

It was Ok.  I wasn't wowed and wasn't turned off by it.

After S5, I bought all 8 of the books available at that time and read them.  They were quick reads (compared to WoT).  Then life happened and I mostly forgot about it until I noticed Prime had released S6E1.  If the show brings me back in - which E1 didn't really do yet, then I may buy book 9 over Christmas.

What were your thoughts?

I kind of felt like they were creating conflict out of nothing to cause some drama on the ship but that's tv shows for you.  Gotta do something to make the show move forward.  I thought it was decent and was happy to see the characters I love again.
