And just when I was having such a positive day, sawing bits of wood in half for points on my man card and cat-proofing my papyrus. Though admittedly Vincent was watching me the whole time with a distinct look of "challenge accepted, hooman". Fleabag will no doubt think up something to get at my plants.

Just hope the villagers on Dice feel bad, lol, and I kind of include Dice in that.

Can we even win now? after NK there will only be 4 town left. so if we got a wolf D3 it'd be 4/2 with another NK that would leave it 3/2 and if we got another wolf D4 and a NK it'd be 2/1 then a wolf D5 we would win? so if we can't get 3 in a row we can't win?

Correct, this is MyLo, or Mislynch Lose. No more screwups allowed. Tbh Verb shooting Shad is a blessing in disguise, as if he had missed we'd be done right now.

I don't follow the shot logic

I mean, neither do I, he should have shot you. I'm just saying that if he shot someone else and missed, it would be game atm.

How would he have missed in this set up? He already hit a town. I don't get it...?

By miss I mean "He hit town". If Verb shot and missed a wolf, meaning he hit town instead, we would be down 1 more player than we are now and we would have lost today. So him shooting Shad, who wolves apparently also shot, is better than him shooting a different towny.

Basically:

Shoot wolf > Shoot same person wolves shot >>>> Shoot Town.

I was looking up some of the acronyms used here and came across a list of unused ones due to being L-word based. A little digging could not find much about it on that site but did fins an old reddit discussion about whether the lynch is really appropriate in such a game given it's connotations of racial violence. Obviously I would be quite happy not to see the word lynch everywhere, but what do you guys think?

I don't know if we'll be able to get rid of the term in the Game Mechanics, but I do try to not actually do that in my scenes. So in my last game they got arrested and in this game they go out the airlock.

I have checked with Turin, who is American and so understands the history that would have led to that reddit discussion. He says he doesn't think it would be an issue as Lynch refers to any mob justice, and is not solely a term that relates to the social injustices in more recent history. So in the context of the game it is purely mob justice.

Aside from my personal antithapy, I can see that it would be a problem in areas where there are racial tensions, particularly in the US, especially in face to face games. Allowing anyone to weaponise the term either because they are racist or have a strange idea of humour, I think would be terrible.

In this kind of international and impersonal setting, I think it is fine. Not to say if someone says they find it uncomfortable that a mod should not enforce it, but I don't think it should be banned. The way people mix and match as much different terminology as possible, it would be difficult to stop, even for me.

It is interesting that Turin characterises it as mob justice, I think ever since my namesake Judge Lynch started lynching people for sectarian reasons, not racial if I'm not mistaken, it has been a byword for mob injustice. Though I guess that is what Turin means.

Well that is why you can disagree with the idea of mob justice. For example, so far we have thrown 2 Town out the airlock.

Mob Justice: the practise whereby a mob takes the law into their own hands in order to injure and kill a person accused of wrong doing. The mob acts as judge, jury and executioner.

We would not weaponise the term here so I really dont think it's a problem. In the event of it ever being a problem, I think the DM staff would step in super quick and deal with it. They are very good.

I'm not really sure that an actual game is the best place to have this discussion. You may be better starting a new discussion Thread.

True, I realised only after posting that I was only talking to those left alive. It was just a thought - perhaps I'm odd but I find turning a problem over in my mind relaxing.

I'm all out of jokes so I thought a bit of rumination might help others relax. I'll try though.

Knock knock.

Who's there?

Interuppting cow.

Inter...

MOOOO!
