I didn't talk about mechanics.  I talked about theme and whether it could be used to break the game. I said I didn't think it could because Ithi works hard to prevent that ( I have changed my mind on this but will not go there because I feel it is against the spirit of the game). However, I also asked myself a question about mechanics and theme. Who is bothered by it more? I argue mafia don't want to discuss theme because they are afraid of exactly the thing I talked about. The possibility of a way for townies to recognise each other based on information the mafia don't have. I have been in games where it became impossible for mafia to hide due to town "codes" if you will.

That this was nearly the same way it went when I asked Key for her reasons is troubling.  They may be the only two that directly sussed people for mentioning theme, and both used the incorrect term of mechanics to do so.

 

Waiting for the "mechanics is just distraction" argument. We have until Friday. There is plenty of time to talk about many things.  It is generally more important to look at the why and how of discussion than just if it happened or who initiated it. 

This is a ton of fluff and still utterly misses the point.  You chose talking mechanics to the new player over actually contributing substance, and are still mad that I called you on it.

Things on my mind this morning:

 

1. Turin has invited everyone to discuss whether or not Zander should have revealed his role on this early in the game. Turin's critique of it has turned into a bit of a lightning rod for him and imo, discussing why that happened is more important than his invitation. 

 

My take is that what's done is done. Zander is mod-confirmed Town IC and that gives the town a big advantage early in the game. Discussing Zander's reasoning for revealing seems like a way to add  unnecessary conversation to the game as opinions about this topic are not really indicative of alignment.

 

2. Key has attracted suspicion from a number of players. It would be worth clarifying the points folks have made regarding her. I'll do this in a bit. 

 

3. My overall opinion of Darthe is that he's trying to assume a leadership role. I'm not a big fan of anyone trying to do this so early in the game unless it's a mod-confirmed IC lol.

I refer to that as tying. So if I'm a wolf I try to connect myself with a townie so that if I flip mafia it looks bad on them and vice versa. It is one of the reasons I worry about people defending me too much , too early or for too little reason.

When did I stop talking in the game? It didn't happen and you know it. Also, it wasn't mechanics.  It was theme. Get your facts straight. This whole line about not contributing substantially is hogwash. I'm not happy that you are trying  to sell a fraudulent claim.

 

YOU made 2 posts about how you were able to suss me out as a wolf in a game that you probably didn't even read but after 20 pages can't determine if I'm a wolf or town. By your own claimed expertise it should have been obvious immediately.  This whole tack is fraudulent.  It is a scheme mafia use to put suspicion on townies they don't really have a case on.

Is this tying or team defense? He's trying to look reasonable asking for a specific sort of case. That is dismissive in that he is trying to say that only certain things are allowed to be suspicious. Anything can be suspicious. 

 

I'm suspicious of Key in part because she came at me with weak arguments including the  fallback that she "always sees Turin as wolfy" which was based on years gone by meta apparently. Then her stance that she didn't just disagree with me about Zander and his reveal, but that my position had no merit at all. Like in no universe should that be questioned. And the weird interaction with DPR. She said he was talking mechanics,  he called her out that it wasn't, she replied semantics,  like that was a trump card. It's moving goal posts.

Pretty much, yeah.  Honestly, waiting for some flips to jumpstart my engagement.  I've always ramped up as the game goes on - just like I did last game.  Nothing new for me.
