Cornacopia of Thanksgiving......

Hi everyone!

For American's, November herald's the beginning of the holiday season with the anticipation of Turkey Day!  Roasting the big ol' turkey, and having all the fixen's.  Football taking over the television..after the Macy's Parade of balloons and the arrival of Santa!  Then the day after...the first official SHOPPING DAY OF CHRISTMAS!!!

What about our Kinster's in other countries?  Does November have any significance?  Tay in Scotland, Dany in Norway..Tig and Rune in Canada...mmm somebody is in England too I believe..sorry I can't remember who!!!

Anyway..we American's call this Thanksgiving...notice how easy it is to describe it without a word of thanks?  *nods*  got me to thinking..during this month I'd like to challenge each of us to find one thing each day be thankful for!  And to talk about thankfulness.

There is thanks of joy, thanks of praise, thanks of appreciation, thanks for things..can you think of any others?  What is thankfulness?  How often do we say thanks..and not even really think about it?  *grins*  Ok..let's chatter!

OH!  and don't forget to go check out the Knitting Circle for a discussion of our Kin Exchanges for the coming year..and specifically for the Holidays!

To start the ball rolling...

I am thankful for a husband who accepts and supports my passion for crafting and giving!  And understanding that projects sometimes cost a wee bit more than anticipated!!!  LOL!

Hmm well, we don't celebrate Thanksgiving here. November to me is about three things.

1. My birthday on 9th ;D

2. Remembrance Sunday/Armistice Day on 11th

3. Getting prepared for Christmas lol

But for things to be thankful for... a fiance who doesn't mind how many hours I spend online and friends who are always there when I need them.

*hugs Tay*  :-*

Somedays it is difficult to just pop off with something to be thankful for.  Of course the idea that there is nothing going on isn't a good reason..there should be some little something..shouldn't there?  *smiles*  Socks.  *nods*  my feet are warm and as they get warmer the less they hurt..so socks!

*Cries*

Twinny, you beat me to the punch.  I was just trying to organize myself to post this very idea.  *Pouts*

Oh well, I can easily give something to be thankful for.  I was gonna start with my children, but today I found out that our 14 months of contract negotiations at work are about to end...and end well.  Oct 1st had marked 2 cycles (Years) without a raise.  Now I get backpay.

Ohhh I forgot, November 5th is also Guy Fawkes Day in the UK. He's the chap that tried to blow up Parliament. So we light bonfires and burn the Guy (like a scarecrow figure) and set off a ton of firworks. We just call it Bonfire Night these days.

*waggles finger at Tay*

see I knew there was something fun in Novemeber!

*gives sam a smooch*  It is a Twinnie rule that all pouts are kissed away!

*grins*  thanks for thinking of the idea Sam!!  Great minds think along the same lines!!

It is great to hear of all that we have to be thankful for!

Today..my thanks is that my husband if finally getting to work on his old willy's truck and get it running!  Been about four years..and he has missed his baby..so this is a joy filled thing for him!

I'm thankful for my husband, who was my one and only friend when we moved 300 miles away from any friends or family, and continues to never let me give up when art college starts kicking my butt. I'm thankful for my parents, who sacrifice so much to literally keep my husband and I in a warm home with food in our pantry and gas in our cars, and remind me that college is not forever. I could never repay them back.

I'm thankful that my hubby got his first paycheck and it was more than either of us had dared to expect. It feels good to pay rent without asking for help from anyone.

And we got to go out to eat with what was left. :)

November means NaNo, deadlines, report cards, The Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade (and putting up with everything for that warm rush you get when you see Santa at the end and it's officially Christmas season), eating too much, football all afternoon (the GA/GA Tech game is always Thanksgiving weekend, don'tcha know?), and relaxing before waking up in the wee hours of the morning to go shopping. I really don't get to do the latter anymore, because no one around here will go with me and it's just not fun to do by yourself, but... *shrugs* such is life, I guess.

I have a ton to be thankful for this year, so the list will get long before I'm done. Consider this the first installment...

1- My biggest thing to be thankful for is that my pregnancy was relative problem free, my surgery went smoothly, I've nearly healed completely, and Peanut was born without a hitch, safe and sound and healthy.

2- I am thankful for the support of everyone I know while I get used to this mommy-thing and how much time it's taking. For my mother, who comes to stay for a week with two days' notice just because I asked her to and told her I needed her. For my husband, who has washed clothes more in the last 8 weeks than I believe he's ever washed in his life and who volunteers to go get me whatever food I want while my arms are full of a screaming baby. For everyone here at DM who avoids pestering me about reports and updates to web pages and who send virtual hugs when I swear I'm going to scream in frustration. For my Kin, who never fail to make me smile, even when I'm already crying my eyes out.

3- I'm thankful for my new laptop (*grins shamelessly*) which allows me to do everything my desktop can do, from the "comfort" of my den.

4- I'm thankful for my job, which I love, even when I complain about how stupid the system is and how screwed up the crap I have to do in order to do my job is.

5- I'm thankful for every day that I wake up (even when it's at 3 AM) pain free and alive... though...very groggy, lately... I know so many people who don't have that luxury.

6- I'm thankful that, for a change, 2007 has been an AWESOME year for me. After so many that have totally sucked for me and everyone I know, it's nice to know that SOMETHING can go right. I can only pray it's contagious and that those people I love who's year hasn't been as wonderful as mine start catching the bug with the new year.

7- I'm thankful for the best friends a person could ever hope to have, some of which I've seen only in .jpg format and others I've had the pleasure of hugging in person. Thank YOU for being one of them. *hugs and smooches*

...now, I'm going to stop there for this post and wander towards my pillows for some shut eye, now that Peanut is asleep. I'm thankful for that, too, after the afternoon we've had here. Thank GOD she finally went to sleep...

Well at this moment I have nothing profound running through me, but I did do very well at bowling this week....After struggling on different(Old) lanes for the first several weeks and dropping my average into the 180's, I rolled a 680 (220, 234, 226).  Hopefully I can find that groove or a similar one every week....lol.

*Gives U4ea a big bear hug*....To the new mommy from the sappy papa.

I am thankful that my honey is better.  He is eating like a regular person, talking, and shooting.  He feels like himself.  Yea!

I am thankful for my sweet baby boys, whose Halloween pictures I have finally downloaded from the camera...  ;D

Aren't they adorable!

I am thankful for DM. My boys are both sick and out of it today. They can sit in front of Scooby reruns and vegetate. I don't think I could handle all the Scooby, they've watched today without the boards. And we're only halfway through the day.... :P

Oh Faerie I feel your pain...mine are not in school yet, so a good part of the day belongs to Noggin.  I know theme song to Dora, Diego, Wonderpets, Pinky Doo, Wow Wow Wubbzy, etc.

Oh well such is parenthood...lol.  Oh by the way my daughter loves Labyrinth too.

silly little thing this...but Ritz Snowflake Crackers!!!

LOL...I love the "special"  little things that all point to the holidays!  Like the song from Mame..."We Need a Little Christmas"..well I'm thankful for those little Christmas things that build the anticipation..and fuel the bounce towards the holidays!

Oh yeah I forgot something thankful...lol.

Well in the holiday theme...I am thankful for the Eggnog season, and new this year the Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream (really tastes like pumpkin pie).

Sam, Mine are normaly in daycare and Pre-kindergarten, but they have this funny rule about attending while they have a fever....

Anyway, today, I'm grateful that the hubby's new job allowed him a day off, so I didn't need to take two in a row. Scooby is his problem, today.  :P

It's your birthday? Happy birthday!

I'm thankful for family, my job, and that sometimes bad things can be turned around into okay things.

Happy Birthday,Tay! Haven't been on in a few days....

Today I am thankful that my hubby is willing to make pancakes for breakfast.  ;D

I am thankful that my mom and step-dad are in a position to loan us one of their cars, so that we will have 2 vehicles until we can get another one. Hubby's new job isn't close enough for carpooling.
