Alright now kids, I've been gone for quite some time. I'm wondering, have I lost my touch? Read my TG Essay and let me know. Am I washed up, or is there hope yet?

Auron Decoa,

Aspiring to the Rank of Tower Guard

Final Essay

The decisions I will discuss in the following pages, I see not so much as choices I have made, but conclusions, which I have inevitably drawn from the course of my training, and the path of my personal development.

The first time a trainee lifts a sword, there is an instinct, somewhere inside them, crudely guiding them in its use. This instinct is the basis of what will one day be developed into the discipline their duty will require of them. Unsurprisingly, this discipline differs in each of us. After spending the greater part of my life running from my problems, I naturally possessed an affinity for speed. During my training with Masters Nuitari and Thorik, I have channeled my quickness of mind and personality into that of a blade. I do not question the fact that a swift swordsman can overcome a stronger opponent if he possesses the skill, and my blade is on the way to being one of the swiftest.

Any warrior aspiring to stand amongst the Tower Guard must remain devoted completely to their duty to the tower. It is a burden that may never release, and one, which they voluntarily take to shoulder. Most of the men and women amongst your ranks fight with a single-minded dedication to this dedication. I do not. I have always been one to divide his tasks and my sword work is no different. Like two parts of the same weapon, I wield two blades with increasing effectiveness. Soon, I will be able to fight with the advantage of two separate warriors.

In the void, focus is mine. Not even the greatest of life’s problems can invade my concentration when the penetrating calm of the void envelops me. When your life is a war on the shadow, every time you draw steel; it becomes a battle in that war. Like any general, it becomes a necessity to separate the battle from the war. If you look at the grand scope, the war as a whole, you are destined to fail. Only in the void can one narrow his focus until it is set only on the battle.

The deadly speed of the scimitar, the empowering reach of the naginata, and the cunning of the butterfly knife, these are the tools I take to my trade. I am prepared to serve the Tower, and the light.
