The Void

I just wanted to see what you all thought about the Void. Your likes and dislikes. Is it only helping Rand become even harder? Granted it keeps the pain he feels daily at bay but at what cost? I was wondering is it related to some real world tech? I sure would like to have some void in my bag of tricks! He he he!

There is a buddhist form of meditation that is similar, and I believe Old

Bon (the religion) actually practiced almost exactly that.

i imagine the void is a large cause of his lack of emotion atm.

The void keeps emotions out, it did even in EOTW when he didnt have to become

''harder''

The void and the flame in the void is a form of meditation that Rand uses when he needs to focus and concentrate without letting anger and other emotions hinder himself. This is something that we most often see in Rand at first when he was consciously grasping saidin, and struggling to pull as much as he can from the raging river of saidin.

However, the Void is also a mediation technique that Rand uses to partition and ignore the extreme pain in his body which would otherwise be strong enough pain to incapicitate any man, despite how tough that man might be.

Actually, it works in the real world, it's simply not as dramatic. Quiet your mind and visualize the process. I've used it in traffic jams and tense meetings, it's quite relaxing.

It's just a meditative focus, like 100s of others.

Now there is no doubt it helps Rand make it through the day. The question I have is how is he able to still use it? The pain in his side, now a bloddy stump, will he even have access to the Void for TG?
