It's the easiest way to remember the spelling.

The worst state ever for spelling is Massachusetts.  Because you can sound it out, but that doesn't tell you how many of each consonant you need. >.<

Nah, I don't really need to.

Spelling comes fairly easily to me.  I shouldn't be able to spell Marseilles, but I can.  Easily.

I only have to willingly and consciously commit something to memory ONCE to remember how to spell it.

Like, just now, I knowingly committed to memory that Massachusetts only has 4 "S's" in it, not 5. :P

I'll never misspell it again. ;)

Well, for me, my problem was that my first instinct was to type "Massachussetts."  Which is wrong.  It's "Massachusetts." By saying there's 4 s's, it's a short way of reminding me not to add that extra s in there.

And I live near the Mississippi, grew up near it, so I've never NOT known how to spell it.

I love going "M-i-s-s-I-s-s-I-p-p-I."  (caps for emphasis :P)

Or, saying Sissimippi.

Not if you don't want to insult the Native American language.

English speaking people put "y's" on the end of words.

I'm pretty sure we're pretty rare in that regard. :P

Mississippi is not an English word.

Relax, it's just a spider-shaped spycam I rented from a mutual acquaintance.
