Screenwriter Carl Ellsworth ("Red Eye," "Disturbia") will pen the screenplay for the first live-action film adaptation of R.L. Stine book series "Goosebumps" for Sony Pictures says Risky Biz Blog.

The "Goosebumps" series comprises more than 50 books that often pay homage to classic sci-fi/horror movies. Previously Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander ("Ed Wood," "The People vs. Larry Flynt") attempted to adapt the material without much success it would seem.

Neal Moritz and Deborah Forte are producing. The project marks the property's first film treatment and is a potential franchise launcher for the studio.

I was never a big Goosebumps fan as a kid, but I know a lot of people are probably going to love this.

Goosebumps is a terrible series  . But I suppose anyone who stomached it when they were children will like the movie...

Agreed. The books and shows were so boring. Not scary at all.

Personally, I preferred Are You Afraid Of The Dark? for my scary show.
