Yes, but there aren't a lot of reqs that will allow for that. Just your two free RP's as a soldier I believe.

As an add on question that is semi related. How does one go about raising one's weapon skill? Is it through advancement, or are there rp recs?

Advancement. Soldiers have a 1, Dedicateds 5, Asha'man 7. You're assumed to have up to your ranks score. So even though you have a 5 as a Dedicated you can still play with a 1 if you disdain weapons.

To progress your character through the ranks to Asha’man, there are certain roleplay requirements you need to play out. There is no set order for the RPs, and you can do as many or as few at once as you like. (given that soldiers do the soldier-dedicated RPs, and dedicated do the dedicated-asha’man RPs). Civilian characters don’t need to train, as we currently have no ranks. If a civilian wishes to advance Weapon Score however, they will need to complete weapon training RP's. If you do not get staff approval first, you will not receive credit! BT initiates automatically gain WS upon rank up and therefore are not actually required to RP weapons training.
